All hand held power tools vibrate to some extent, and this vibration is transmitted to the operator
via the handle, or hand used to steady the tool. Vibration from about 2 to 1500 herz is potentially
damaging and is most hazardous in the range from about 5 to 20 herz.
Operators who are regularly exposed to vibration may suffer from Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome
(HAVS), which includes ‘dead hand’, ‘dead finger’, and ‘white finger’. These are painful
conditions and are widespread in industries where vibrating tools are used.
The health risk depends upon the vibration level and the length of time of exposure to it……in
effect, a daily vibration dose.
Tools are tested using specialised equipment, to approximate the vibration level generated under
normal, acceptable operating conditions for the tool in question. For example, a grinder used at
45° on mild steel plate, or a sander on softwood in a horizontal plane etc.
These tests produce a value‘a’, expressed in metres per second per second, which represents the
average vibration level of all tests taken, in three axes where necessary, and a second figure ‘K’,
which represents the uncertainty factor, i.e. a value in excess of ‘a’, to which the tool could
vibrate under normal conditions. These values appear in the declaration on page 7.
You will note that a third value is given in the specification - the highest measured reading in a
single plane. This is the maximum level of vibration measured during testing in one of the axes,
and this should also be taken into account when making a risk assessment.
‘a’ values in excess of 2.5 m/s2 are considered hazardous when used for prolonged periods. A
tool with a vibration value of 2.8 m/s2 may be used for up to 8 hours (cumulative) per day,
whereas a tool with a value of 11.2 m/s2 may be used for ½ hour per day only.
The graph below shows the vibration value against the maximum time the respective tool may be
used, per day.
The uncertainty factor should also be
taken into account when assessing a
risk. The two figures ‘a’ and ‘K’may
be added together and the resulant
value used to assess the risk.
It should be noted that if a tool is used
under abnormal, or unusual
conditions, then the vibration level
could possibly increase significantly.
Users must always take this into
account and make their own risk
assessment, using the graph as a
reference.

Some tools with a high vibration value, such as impact wrenches, are generally used for a few
seconds at a time, therefore the cumulative time may only be in the order of a few minutes per
day. Nevertheless, the cumulative effect, particularly when added to that of other hand held
power tools that may be used, must always be taken into account when the total daily dose rate is
determined.

TROUBLE SHOOTING
WARNING:
PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE OPERATING
As with all power tools and machinery, there are certain hazards involved with
their operation and use. Exercising respect and caution will considerably lessen
the risk of personal injury. However, if normal safety precautions are overlooked
or ignored, personal injury to the operator or damage to property, may result.
•ALWAYS Learn the tools applications, limitations and specific potential hazards
peculiar to it. Read and become familiar with the entire operating manual.
•ALWAYS check for damage before use , any damaged part should be checked
to ensure that it will operate properly and perform it’s intended function. Check
for alignment of moving parts, breakage of parts, mountings, and any other
condition which may effect the tools operation. Any damage should
be properly repaired or the part replaced . If in any doubt DO NOT use the
machine. Consult your local dealer.
•ALWAYS disconnect the tool from the air supply before servicing and when
changing accessories.
•ALWAYS wear safety goggles, manufactured to the latest European safety
standards. Everyday glasses do not have impact resistant lenses, they are NOT
safety glasses.
•ALWAYS wear suitable ear protection to protect your hearing.
•ALWAYS keep work area clean, cluttered areas and benches invite accidents.
•ALWAYS ensure that adequate lighting is available. A minimum intensity of 300
lux should be provided. Ensure the lighting is placed so you will not be working
in your own shadow.
•ALWAYS keep children away. All visitors should be kept at a safe distance
from the work area, especially whilst operating the tool.
•ALWAYS maintain tool in top condition. Keep tool clean for best
performance. Follow maintenance instructions.
•ALWAYS concentrate on the job at hand, no matter how trivial it may seem. Be
aware that accidents are caused by carelessness due to familiarity.
•ALWAYS wear proper apparel. Loose clothing or jewellery may get caught in
moving parts. Wear protective hair covering to contain long hair.
•ALWAYS keep your proper footing and balance at all times DO NOT over
reach. For best footing wear rubber soled footwear. Keep floor clear of oil,
scrap wood etc.
•ALWAYS use recommended accessories, the use of improper accessories could
be hazardous.
•ALWAYS ensure safety devices are in place and are working correctly, if not
DO NOT use the tool until rectified.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR AIR PALM NAILERS
•NEVER use combustible gases or other propellants to operate this tool.
Use a regulated air supply ONLY.
•NEVER point the tool at any person or animal.
•NEVER free fire the tool at high pressure.
•ALWAYS disconnect the tool from the air supply before performing any
maintenance or during periods of non-operation.
•ALWAYS inspect the tool before use and ensure the tool’s safety spring trigger
is moving freely.
•ALWAYS keep hands clear of the discharging area of the tool when connecting
the air supply.
•DO NOT exceed the maximum rated pressure for this tool 120psi / 8.3bar.
•DO NOT keep the safety spring trigger depressed during the loading of fasteners
as this could cause unintentional firing, resulting in serious personal injury.
•DO NOT attempt to drive a fastener into the top of another fastener, doing
so could cause the fastener to ricochet resulting in serious personal injury.
•DO NOT drive fasteners into the edge of a work piece as this could cause
the work piece to split allowing the fastener to ricochet free resulting in
serious personal injury.
•ONLY use fasteners which comply with the specifications of this tool.
•Use a clean, dry regulated compressed air supply at 4.9-6.9 bar (72-100 psi).
•Never exceed the maximum air pressure (120 PSI), doing so will cause noise,
misfiring and fast wearing of the tool.
•When connecting the air supply always keep hands and body away from
the discharge area of the tool.
•A filter-regulator-lubrication is the preferred method of air supply and should
be located as close to the tool as possible. (refer to fig.1).

•Keep the air filter clean, a dirty filter will reduce the air pressure and cause a
reduction in power and efficiency.
•For better performance, install a quick connector in your tool and a quick
coupler on the hose if possible.
•Be sure all connections in the air supply system are sealed to prevent air loss.
OPERATION:
•Insert a nail into the end of the tool (only holding the shank of the nail).
•Align the tool square with the work piece.
•Apply a downward pressure on the tool and drive the nail into the piece.
MAINTENANCE
•
If you use the tool without in-line lubrication then place 2 - 6 drops of pneumatic
tool oil into the air inlet before each day or after 2 hours of continuous use.
•Inspect the tool before every use, replace any worn or damaged parts to
ensure the tool operates correctly and safely.
•Regularly inspect the spring and safety mechanism to ensure that it operates
correctly, check there are no loose or missing parts.
•Keep the nose of the tool clean and free from any dirt or abrasive particles.
