INSTALLATION

1. Measure the distance between the bicycle handlebars and the back of the seat.
2. Locate a suitable ceiling joist and transfer the seat/handlebar measurement along the joist so that the lifting attachment points line up as Fig 1.
3. If it is necessary to mount the bicycle lift at 90
joists, simply mount the lift assemblies to a plywood/timber board and then attach the board to the joists as shown in Fig 2.
4. Tie a stop or double knot in the end of the rope. Feed the rope through the square hole in the rear lift assembly that does not have the locking mechanism, so that the knotted end sits between the ceiling and the lift assembly.
5. Using the wood screws provided, mount each of the lift assemblies to the ceiling joist(s), as shown in Fig 3, ensuring that the hooks line up with the handlebar/seat measurement.
• Pre-drilling pilot holes will make
this easier.

6. Thread the rope through the pulleys as shown in Fig 4. Be sure to thread the rope down through both parts of the locking mechanism (finally emerging through the round hole) as shown in Fig 5a.
7. Use 2 wood-screws to mount the rope cleat to the wall as shown in Fig 5b.
8. When the bicycle is raised to the ceiling, the excess rope should be stored by coiling up and hanging from the cleat.

USING THE BICYCLE LIFT

LIFTING THE BICYCLE

1. Attach the hooks to the bicycle handlebar and seat as shown. taking care that the lifting rope is not twisted. The bicycle can now be raised to the ceiling by pulling the rope. If pulled at an angle in line with the bicycle, as shown in fig 6, the rope will lock in place to take the weight of the bicycle.
• The rope should remain locked
while it is under tension but check that it is held before letting go.
2. Tie the rope to the wall cleat and coil the excess rope to hang from it. Never cut the rope tail off.
3. Always look for any defects occurring during operation and stop using the lift if any are seen.
4. Always take care to pull the rope in line with the pulleys to ensure the rope passes smoothly through the mechanism.
5. Lift the load sufficient to take up the strain and check stability before commencing the full lift.
6. Ensure that no obstruction prevents a clean lift and that the hooks are securely attached before lifting.

LOWERING THE BICYCLE

1. Pull the rope towards the rear pulley in the direction shown as “unlock” to release the locking mechanism as shown in Fig 6, while maintaining tension on the rope.
• The tension will keep the locking mechanism open and allow the
bicycle to lower.
2. Slowly let the rope out as the bicycle lowers. Once the bicycle is lowered, remove it from the hooks and tie the rope back to the cleat.
3. When lowering a load, be aware that when the rope is released, the load will not stop unless the locking device is engaged.

PERIODIC MAINTENANCE

Before use, it is recommended to carry out the following checks. When in constant use, the system should be inspected more frequently.
1. Check the security and condition of the mounting point.
2. Check the condition of the hooks and the security of all screws.
NOTE: the nuts and bolts must still have enough freedom to move.
3. Check the condition of the rope and that it is not chaffed or fraying.
