1. User instructions
1.1. General features
The AT3000 device (Figure 1) contains three passive, independent, orthogonal antennas operating in the 30÷3000
MHz band, designed and built in Calzavara - Clampco Sistemi NIRLab laboratory. If used with the ferrite bead
coaxial cable supplied it allows reliable measurement of radio-frequency electric fields which have an
environmental impact in the vast majority of practical cases. The three orthogonal antennas are framed in the
black spherical polystyrene radome. The axis selection is accomplished by an internal RF electronic switch remotly
controlled by a cable connected to the antenna pigtail. The special ferritized cable (item ATCF02, 2 meter length )
in Figure 1 supplied with the antenna and it is composed by the RF cable and the axis selection cable.

1.2. Vertical antenna support (item SUPPORTOAT3000)
Firmly secure the base of the support to the ball joint on the tripod (Figure 2), use the ¼” brass threaded insert.
Connect the N male RF connector to the antenna port, then fix the axis selection connector of the composite cable
to the connector on the antenna pigtail. Be sure both connectors are well tightened to avoid poor contacts; after
measuring has been completed, check that the connectors are still tighten.
Insert the antenna handle into the support sleeve. Normally it is better to perform this operation while holding the
support base with one hand to prevent it from also rotating on the stand.

WARNING!
The 7-pin connector for the
selection of the axis has a key
insertion and a red dot alignment.
To avoid damaging do not force or
over-rotate the male and female
connectors.

1.3. Axis selection
Axis selection is possible in two ways according to the option purchased:
1.3.1. Axis selection with manual switch box (item ATSM01)
The box (Figure 3) has to be placed near the spectrum analyzer and it permits to use the triaxial antenna with any
spectrum analyzer or RF receiver. Connect its pigtail to the connector of the composite cable (SA side), then simply
rotate the manual axis selector on the front to the desired polarization: a LED will be steady lit to indicate the axis
selected. To switch off the selector take the selector in ‘OFF’ position.

This device is power supplied by a standard battery type AA 1,5 V, 1500 mAh (60 hours operation).
Also rechargeable batteries NiCd or NiMH can be used, with battery duration according to the capacity. Battery
must be replaced when a LED blinks or does not produce any light although its axis has been manually selected.
If you don't use the manual axes selector, it is recommended to remove the battery.

1.3.2. Axis selection with USB switch box (item ATSA03)
This selector, connected to a PC via a USB port, allows you to perform the selection, via software, of the measure
axis in order to execute fast, automatic and repetitive measures. The total current is less than 20 mA and hence
does not affect in any significant battery life of any laptop.

Connect USB cable to USB PC port and then connect its pigtail to the connector of the composite cable (SA side).
The axis selected by the software is indicated by the corresponding LED panel.
