DOs & DON’Ts

DO NOT:

• Over-tighten the Large Hex Nut against the bottom of the formed track.

• Weld anything to the Track Tamer™ or Galvanized Scaffold Clamp.

• Cut or grind the Track Tamer™.

• Suspend personnel from the Track Tamer™.

• Suspend equipment or structures intended for the use of lifting or

supporting personnel in the air from the Track Tamer™.

• Use Track Tamer™ to suspend chain motors or any other lifting device.

• Use the Track Tamer™ model 525 as a single, stand alone unit.

DO:

• Use two hands when working with equipment that is mounted to a Track
Tamer™.

• Tighten the Large Hex Nut firmly against the bottom of the formed track
each time you hang or move each piece of equipment.

• Pay attention to the dimples (ends of the roll pins) in the shaft. These
indicate the position of the track nut in the track.

• Use an aircraft safety cable (or better) for each pipe mounted to the formed
track with the Track Tamer™, securing the safety cable around the nearest
structural support.

• Check the formed track’s condition and take appropriate steps if the formed
track shows sign of structural damage or weakness.

The Track Tamer ™

by City Theatrical, Inc. has unique features that contribute to the safe (when

used as directed) and speedy operation of these products.

(1) Our Specially designed track nut with welded stud is fastened to the
Track Tamer™ shaft by a Grade 8 roll pin and the stud’s 1/2” threads. The
operator now has positive control of the track nut inside the track. Track
Tamer™ has eliminated the necessary fumbling around with your fingers inside
the track to seat the track nut onto the track’s inner edges.

(2) We have separated the lock down of the track nut from the rotation of the
attached clamp. Our unique and simple design makes the operation of all types
of equipment hung in formed track safer and faster than ever before.

SAFE OPERATION:

The model 525 comes completely assembled and ready for use.

To hang the Track Tamer™ in the formed channel, simply align the long axis
of the Track Tamer’s formed track nut with the long axis of the track itself.
Insert the Track Tamer™ into the track and turn the Track Tamer™ until the
formed nut will not turn anymore. The roll pin near the Aluminum Split Coupler
indicates the position of the Track Nut in the track. Settle the Track Tamer™
into the track. You may need to rotate the Track Tamer™ back a few degrees
to get the Track Nut to settle properly onto the edges of the track.

Remember, all track is slightly different because of conditions
created by use and/or abuse. Be sure the Track Nut has properly
settled into the track.

Once settled, tighten the Large Hex Nut and washer against the track. You
need to apply firm, but not excessive pressure, to the rotation of the Large Hex
Nut to seat it against the bottom of the formed track. Once you have

tightened it the first time, give the unit a turn or shake to allow the unit to
further settle into the track. Then retighten the Large Hex Nut.

Repeat the above operation for a second model 525.

The Galvanized Scaffold Clamp will accept 1.25” and 1.5” ID pipe!

Install the pipe into the Galvanized Scaffold Clamp and between the
appropriate number of Track Tamers™ (minimum of two.) Be sure to tighten
the hex nut on the Galvanized Scaffold Clamp so that the pipe does not slip.
Attach your aircraft safety cable around the pipe and around the nearest
structural support. You are now ready to hang your equipment on your newly
mounted pipe.

WARNING: ALWAYS USE THE 525 IN PAIRS.

DO NOT TOUCH THE LARGE HEX NUT WHILE

THE TRACK TAMER™ IS IN USE.

Now that you have outside positive control of the Track Nut that is inside the
formed track, it is potentially possible to have one end of a pipe fall out of the
track if you have failed to tighten the Large Hex Nut against the bottom of the
formed track.

Always tighten all the Hex Nuts before performing

any other operations with the Track Tamers™ and pipe.

If you have removed a pipe or any other piece of equipment from the Track
Tamer™ while it is still mounted in the formed track and then loosened the
Track Tamer™ in the formed track, be careful of the freely spinning Large Hex
Nut. Once the Large Hex Nut runs out of thread, the momentum may cause the
Track Tamer™ to spin and fall out of the formed track, potentially causing an
accident.
