DRIVING AND ALCOHOL
Drunken driving is one of the most frequent causes of
accidents.
Your driving ability can be seriously impaired with blood
alcohol levels far below the legal minimum. If you are
drinking, don’t drive. Ride with a designated nondrinking driver, call a cab, a friend, or use public transportation.
WARNING!
Driving after drinking can lead to an accident.
Your perceptions are less sharp, your reflexes are
slower, and your judgment is impaired when you
have been drinking. Never drink and then drive.
This manual illustrates and describes the operation of
features and equipment that are either standard or optional on this vehicle. This manual may also include a

12 THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING YOUR VEHICLE
A WORD ABOUT YOUR KEYS
Your vehicle is equipped with a keyless ignition system.
This system consists of a Key Fob with Remote Keyless
Entry (RKE) Key Fob and a Wireless Ignition Node (WIN)
with integral ignition switch. You can insert the Key Fob
into the ignition switch with either side up.
Keyless Enter-N-Go Feature — If Equipped
This vehicle may be equipped with the Keyless EnterN-Go feature. Please refer to “Starting Procedures” in
“Starting And Operating” for further information.
Wireless Ignition Node (WIN)
The Wireless Ignition Node (WIN) operates similarly to
an ignition switch. It has four operating positions, three
with detents and one that is spring-loaded. The detent
positions are OFF, ACC, and ON/RUN. The START
position is a spring-loaded momentary contact position.
When released from the START position, the switch
automatically returns to the ON/RUN position.
Wireless Ignition Node (WIN)
1 — OFF
2 — ACCESSORY
3 — ON/RUN
4 — START
Key Fob
The Key Fob operates the ignition switch. Insert the
square end of the Key Fob into the ignition switch located
on the instrument panel and rotate to the desired position. It also contains the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Key
Fob and an emergency key, which stores in the rear of the
Key Fob.
The emergency key allows for entry into the vehicle
should the battery in the vehicle or the RKE Key Fob go
dead. The emergency key is also for locking the lower
glove compartment. You can keep the emergency key
with you when valet parking.
To remove the emergency key, slide the mechanical latch
at the top of the Key Fob sideways with your thumb and
then pull the key out with your other hand.

14 THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING YOUR VEHICLE
Emergency Key Removal
NOTE: You can insert the double-sided emergency key
into the lock cylinder with either side up.
Removing Key Fob From Ignition
Place the gear selector in PARK. Turn the Key Fob to the
OFF position and then remove the Key Fob.
NOTE: Power window switches will also remain active
for up to 10 minutes after the ignition switch has been
turned to OFF, depending upon the accessory delay
setting. Opening either front door will cancel this feature.
WARNING!
• Before exiting a vehicle, always shift the transmission into PARK, apply the parking brake, turn the
engine OFF, remove the RKE Key Fob from the
ignition and lock your vehicle. If equipped with
Keyless Enter-N-Go — Ignition, always make sure
the keyless ignition node is in “OFF” mode, remove the RKE Key Fob from the vehicle and lock
the vehicle.
• Never leave children alone in a vehicle, or with
access to an unlocked vehicle.
(Continued)
THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING YOUR VEHICLE 15
WARNING! (Continued)
•
Allowing children to be in a vehicle unattended is
dangerous for a number of reasons. A child or others
could be seriously or fatally injured. Children
should be warned not to touch the parking brake,
brake pedal or the transmission gear selector.
• Do not leave the RKE Key Fob in or near the
vehicle, or in a location accessible to children and
do not leave the ignition of a vehicle equipped
with Keyless Enter-N-Go in the ACC or ON/RUN
mode. A child could operate power windows, other
controls, or move the vehicle.
• Do not leave children or animals inside parked
vehicles in hot weather. Interior heat build-up may
cause serious injury or death.
CAUTION!
An unlocked vehicle is an invitation. Always remove
the RKE Key from the ignition and lock all doors
when leaving the vehicle unattended.
Key-In-Ignition Reminder
Opening the driver’s door when the Key Fob is in the
ignition and the ignition switch position is OFF or ACC,
a chime will sound to remind you to remove the key.
NOTE: The Key-In-Ignition reminder only sounds when
the Key Fob is placed in the OFF or ACC ignition
position.
If your vehicle is equipped with Keyless Enter-N-Go,
opening the driver’s door when the vehicle’s ignition
switch is placed in ACC or ON/RUN (engine stopped)
2
16 THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING YOUR VEHICLE
will cause the reminder chime to sound. Refer to “Starting Procedures” in “Starting And Operating” for further
information.
SENTRY KEY
The Sentry Key Immobilizer system prevents unauthorized vehicle operation by disabling the engine. The
system does not need to be armed or activated. Operation
is automatic, regardless of whether the vehicle is locked
or unlocked.
The system uses Key Fob with factory-mated Remote
Keyless Entry (RKE) Key Fob and Wireless Ignition Node
(WIN) to prevent unauthorized vehicle operation. Therefore, only Key Fobs that are programmed to the vehicle
can be used to start and operate the vehicle. The system
will shut the engine off in two seconds if an invalid Key
Fob is used to start the engine.
After turning the ignition switch to the ON/RUN position, the Vehicle Security Light will turn on for three
seconds for a bulb check. If the light remains on after the
bulb check, it indicates that there is a problem with the
electronics. In addition, if the light begins to flash after
the bulb check, it indicates that someone used an invalid
Key Fob to start the engine. Either of these conditions will
result in the engine being shut off after two seconds.
If the Vehicle Security Light turns on during normal
vehicle operation (vehicle running for longer than 10
seconds), it indicates that there is a fault in the electronics. Should this occur, have the vehicle serviced as soon
as possible by an authorized dealer.
CAUTION!
The Sentry Key Immobilizer system is not compatible with some aftermarket remote starting systems.
(Continued)
CAUTION! (Continued)
Use of these systems may result in vehicle starting
problems and loss of security protection.
THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING YOUR VEHICLE 17
Duplication of Key Fobs may be performed at an authorized dealer, this procedure consists of programming a
blank Key Fob to the vehicle electronics. A blank Key Fob
is one that has never been programmed.
2
All of the Key Fobs provided with your new vehicle have
been programmed to the vehicle electronics.
Replacement Keys
NOTE: Only Key Fobs that are programmed to the
vehicle electronics can be used to start and operate the
vehicle. Once a Key Fob is programmed to a vehicle, it
cannot be reprogrammed to any other vehicle.
CAUTION!
Always remove the RKE Key Fobs from the vehicle
and lock all doors when leaving the vehicle unattended.
NOTE: When having the Sentry Key Immobilizer sys-
tem serviced, bring all vehicle Key Fobs with you to the
authorized dealer.
Customer RKE Key Fob Programming
Programming RKE Key Fobs may be performed at an
authorized dealer.
General Information
The following regulatory statement applies to all radio
frequency (RF) devices equipped in this vehicle:
18 THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING YOUR VEHICLE
This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules and
with Industry Canada license-exempt RSS standard(s).
Operation is subject to the following two conditions:
1. This device may not cause harmful interference, and
2. This device must accept any interference received,
including interference that may cause undesired operation.
NOTE: Changes or modifications not expressly approved
by the party responsible for compliance could void the
user’s authority to operate the equipment.
VEHICLE SECURITY ALARM — IF EQUIPPED
The Vehicle Security Alarm monitors the vehicle doors
for unauthorized entry and the ignition switch for unauthorized operation. When the alarm is activated, the
interior switches for door locks, power sliding doors and
power liftgate are disabled. The Vehicle Security Alarm
provides both audible and visible signals. For the first
three minutes, the headlights will turn on, the park lamps
and/or turn signals will flash, Vehicle Security Light will
flash repeatedly, and the horn will sound. For an additional 15-minutes, only the headlights, park lamps
and/or turn signals and Vehicle Security Light will flash.
Rearming Of The System
The Vehicle Security Alarm will rearm itself after the 15
additional minutes of headlights and Vehicle Security
Light flashing if the Vehicle Security Alarm has not been
disabled. If the condition which initiated the alarm is still
present, the Vehicle Security Alarm will ignore that
condition and monitor the remaining doors and ignition.
To Arm The System
Follow these steps to arm the Vehicle Security Alarm:
1. Make sure the vehicles ignition is cycled to the “OFF”
position (refer to ⬙Starting Procedures⬙ in ⬙Starting
And Operating⬙ for further information).
• For vehicles equipped with Keyless Enter-N-Go —
Passive Entry, make sure the vehicles keyless ignition system is OFF.
• For vehicles not equipped with Keyless Enter-N-Go
— Passive Entry, make sure the vehicle ignition
system is OFF, and the key is physically removed
from the ignition.
2. Perform one of the following methods to lock the
vehicle:
• Push LOCK
button on the interior power door
lock switch with the driver and/or passenger
door open.
THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING YOUR VEHICLE 19

The Vehicle Security Alarm can be disarmed using any of
the following methods:
• Push the UNLOCK button on the RKE Key Fob.
• Grasp the Passive Entry Unlock Door Handle (if
equipped, refer to ⬙Keyless Enter-N-Go — Passive
Entry⬙ in ⬙Things To Know Before Starting Your Vehicle⬙ for further information).
2
20 THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING YOUR VEHICLE
• Cycle the vehicle ignition system out of the OFF
position.
• For vehicles equipped with Keyless Enter-N-Go —
Passive Entry, push the keyless ignition button (requires at least one valid RKE Key Fob in the vehicle).
• For vehicles not equipped with Keyless Enter-N-Go
— Passive Entry, insert a valid key into the ignition
and turn the key to the ON position.
NOTE:
• The driver’s door key cylinder and the liftgate button
on the RKE Key Fob cannot arm or disarm the Vehicle
Security Alarm.
• The Vehicle Security Alarm remains armed during
power liftgate entry. Pushing the liftgate button will
not disarm the Vehicle Security Alarm. If someone
enters the vehicle through the liftgate and opens any
door, the alarm will sound.
• When the Vehicle Security Alarm is armed, the interior
power door lock switches will not unlock the doors.
The Vehicle Security Alarm is designed to protect your
vehicle. However, you can create conditions where the
system will give you a false alarm. If one of the previously described arming sequences has occurred, the
Vehicle Security Alarm will arm regardless of whether
you are in the vehicle or not. If you remain in the vehicle
and open a door, the alarm will sound. If this occurs,
disarm the Vehicle Security Alarm.
If the Vehicle Security Alarm is armed and the battery
becomes disconnected, the Vehicle Security Alarm will
remain armed when the battery is reconnected; the
exterior lights will flash, and the horn will sound. If this
occurs, disarm the Vehicle Security Alarm.
Tamper Alert
If something has triggered the Vehicle Security Alarm in
your absence, the horn will sound three times, and the
exterior lights blink three times when you unlock the
doors. Check the vehicle for tampering.
Security System Manual Override
The Vehicle Security Alarm will not arm if you lock the
doors using the manual door lock plunger.
ILLUMINATED APPROACH
The courtesy lights will turn on when you use the RKE
Key Fob to unlock the doors or open any door.
This feature also turns on the approach lighting in the
outside mirrors (if equipped). Refer to “Mirrors” in
“Understanding The Features Of Your Vehicle” for further information.
THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING YOUR VEHICLE 21
The lights will fade to off after approximately 30 seconds,
or they will immediately fade to off once the ignition
switch is turned to ON/RUN from the OFF position.
The front courtesy overhead console and door courtesy
lights will not turn off if the dimmer control is in the
“Dome ON” position (rotate horizontal thumb wheel on
the bottom of the switch to the far right detent position).
The illuminated entry system will not operate if the
dimmer control is in the “Dome OFF” position (rotate
horizontal thumb wheel on the bottom of the switch to
the far left detent position).
NOTE: If your vehicle is equipped with illuminated
approach lights under the outside mirrors, they can be
turned off by using the Electronic Vehicle Information
Center (EVIC) controls (if NOT equipped with a touchscreen radio) or the Uconnect radio (if equipped with a

This system allows you to lock or unlock the doors and
liftgate, and activate the Panic Alarm, optional power
liftgate, left power sliding door, and right power sliding
door from distances up to approximately 66 ft (20 m)
using a hand-held Key Fob with RKE Key Fob. The RKE
Key Fob does not need to be pointed at the vehicle to
activate the system.
NOTE: Inserting the Key Fob with RKE Key Fob into the
ignition switch disables the system from responding to
any button pushed from that RKE Key Fob. Driving at
speeds 5 mph (8 km/h) and above disables the system
from responding to all RKE Key Fob buttons for all RKE
Key Fobs.
Two RKE Key Fobs may be supplied with the vehicle.
Vehicles built without the powered options will be
equipped from the factory with three-button RKE Key
Fobs, and those built with power options will be
equipped with up to seven-button RKE Key Fobs.
Using The RKE Key Fob
Three-button RKE Key Fobs will provide basic UNLOCK,
LOCK, and PANIC functions.
Three-Button RKE Key Fob
Seven-button RKE Key Fobs will provide functions that
allow the same basic operation as the three-button, but
may also be used to operate the power liftgate (optional),
power sliding doors, and Remote Start feature (optional).
