Ultima is the corner stone of Chord Electronic s
amplcation , standing as our ultimate referenc e amplication - beaten by none.
Before operation , we strongly advise that you read this user ma nual thoroughly, storing it in a s afe place along with your origin al receipt of purchase, in cas e you should require assistance in the f uture.
The Ultima is not protec ted against liquids o f any kind.
Never place containe rs of liquid on Ultima . Never allow Ultima to come into contact with mo isture or liquids; doing s o could result in electrocution or d amage to the Ultima internal circuitry.
Be aware that liquids , including water that has dried, ca n leave minerals that can aect th e PCB and other components , which could eventually lead to oxidisation and s hort-circuiting.
If the Ultima comes in to contact with moisture or liquid s, immediately disconnect fro m the mains power supply, and connec ted equipment, and contact Chord Ele ctronics for further advice.
The Ultima has intern al thermal protection that will cut th e power supply if reach ed.
Never operate the Ultim a near sources of heat or naked flame s as this will decrease the lifesp an of the internal components . It is advised that you do not operate the Ultim a in an area of direct sunlight o r on top of signicant heat- producing devices .
Please be aware that it is e ntirely normal for the Ultim a to become warm during use, par ticularly within a stacked conguration. I f you are concerned about the tempera tures, please switch the device o and consid er a dierent placement.

There are no user-ser viceable components with in the
Ultima or its power sup ply. Dangerous voltag es/currents exist within the Ultima and it s power supply, posing a severe risk of ele ctrocution and/or fire.
Never attempt to open ,
dismantle or apply i nternal
third-party d evices to it or
insert anythin g other than the listed interconnec ts or speaker cables within this user manu al.
If the Ultima develops a f ault or the casework becom es damaged, immediately disco nnect from the mains power supply a nd connected equipment and co ntact Chord Electronics for f urther advice.
Before connecti ng the Ultima to any equipment, con sult the manufacturers user guide to conr m compatibility.
When connecti ng the Ultima to any equipment, ma ke sure that all devices are o, including the U ltima. Once connected, switc h all equipment on starting with the so urce and ending with the amplicati on. Initially, operate the Ultima with your prea mp/device on its lowest gain setti ng and lowest volume setting, ge ntly increasing to a comfortable lis tening level. Never operate the Ultima at exces sive sound levels; permanen t hearing damage and loss can occur.
Ultima is supplie d with its own grounded 16A-ra ted mains IEC cable and it is importa nt that the amplier is earthed at all tim es via this cable, or an appropriate altern ative. Failure to do this could be hazard ous in the unlikely event of a fault.
The supplied regi on-specic 16A mains IEC cable can be su bstituted for an alternative power cabl e, however, please make sure that it h as an earth. If any cable becom es damaged you must discontinue u se and replace it immediately to avoid the ris k of electrocution.
Ultima must be per manently connected to a source of power. The include d mains lead simply p lugs into the Ultima IEC mains socket. If th e mains lead is prematurely disco nnected Ultima may
With a thick, solid al uminium chassis, the Ultimas casework la rgely protects the sensitive internal c ircuitry from radio frequenc y interference. However, for optimal perfor mance, it is recommended th at the following points are observed:
1. C onsider placing the
Ul tima away from wir eless routers.
2. Separate the Ultima fro m ampliers using toro idal transformers.
3. Operate mobile phones at a di stance to avoid interference.
Although the Ultim a is largely shielded, it ca n generate
radio frequenc y interference that may have an eect on ra dio and television reception . If this occurs, please reconside r your placement.
still hold charge fo r up to 15 minutes.
WARNIN G: Never disconnect t he
power cable du ring operation. O nly disconnec t when Ultima is o . If the power cable is di sconnected during opera tion there is a risk of damage to co nnected equipment.
