CUT-OFF SAW SAFETY
PRECAUTIONS
Never use carbide-tipped, woodcut-1. ting, or circular machine Saw Blades. They can cause severe personal injury from reactive forces, blade contact, or thrown objects.
Do not operate the equipment with 16. known leaks in the engine’s fuel system.
This product contains or, when used, 17. produces a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. (California Health & Safety Code § 25249.5, et seq.)
When spills of fuel or oil occur, they 18. must be cleaned up immediately. Dispose of uids and cleaning materials as per any local, state, or federal codes and regulations. Store oil rags in a bottom-ventilated, covered, metal container.
Keep hands and feet away from 19. moving parts. Do not reach over or across equipment while operating.
Before use, check for misalignment 20. or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, and any other condition that may affect the equipment’s operation.
If damaged, have the equipment serviced before using. Many ac-
cidents are caused by poorly maintained equipment.
Only cut asphalt, concrete, stone, 2. brick, and plastics with this Cut Off Saw.
Inspect the Saw Blade frequently, 3. and replace immediately if the Blade is cracked, or warped. Cracked or warped Saw Blades may shatter or break and cause serious personal injury.
Always install the Saw Blade so 4. that the arrow on the Blade points in the direction of the rotation of the spindle.
Keep hands and ngers away from 5.
the cutting area and Saw Blade. Never attempt to cut more than 6.
one workpiece at a time. When cutting a large workpiece, 7.
make sure its entire length is properly supported. If necessary, use a
roller stand (not included).
Allow the Saw Blade to spin up to 8. full speed before feeding it into a workpiece. When turning off the Cut
Off Saw, allow the Saw Blade to spin down and stop on its own. Do not

press against the Saw Blade to stop it.
Do not force the Saw Blade into 9. the workpiece when cutting. Apply
moderate pressure, allowing the Saw Blade to cut without being forced.
To avoid accidental injury, always 10. wear heavy duty work gloves when changing the Saw Blade.
The Saw Blade will become hot 11. while cutting. Allow the Saw Blade
to completely cool before handling.
twisted or misaligned in the cut, the teeth at the back edge of the Saw Blade can raise the Cut Off Saw (walk up) toward the operator. Kickback is a result of tool misuse and/ or incorrect operating procedures or conditions and can be avoided by taking proper precautions as given below:
Maintain control of the Cut Off • Saw at all times. Never allow the
rotating Saw Blade to rest on the workpiece without holding on to the Saw with both hands.
Turn off the Cut Off Saw and allow 12. the Saw Blade to completely stop if the Saw Blade is to be backed out of an uncompleted cut.
Never attempt to remove material 13. stuck in the Cut Off Saw while it is operating.
Always use the water cooling 14. system when cutting concrete to avoid inhalation of dangerous dust particles.
Make sure the workpiece is free 15. from nails, metal rebar, and any other foreign objects that could damage the Saw Blade or cause “kickback”.
Causes and operator prevention 16. of “kickback”: Kickback is a sud-
den reaction to a pinched, bound, or misaligned Saw Blade, causing an uncontrolled Cut Off Saw to lift up and out from the workpiece toward the operator. When the Saw Blade is pinched or bound tightly by the cut closing down, the Saw Blade stalls and the engine reaction drives the Cut Off Saw rapidly back toward the operator. If the Saw Blade becomes
When the Saw Blade is binding, • or when interrupting a cut for any reason, turn off the Cut Off Saw and hold the Saw motionless until the Saw Blade comes to a complete stop. Never attempt
to remove the Saw Blade from the workpiece or pull the Saw backward while the Saw Blade is in motion or kickback may occur. Investigate and take corrective actions to eliminate the cause of Saw Blade binding.
When restarting the Cut Off Saw • on a workpiece, center the Saw Blade in the pre-cut opening and check that the Saw Teeth are not engaged into the workpiece. If the
Saw Blade is binding, the Cut Off Saw may walk up or kickback as the Saw is restarted.
Support large panels with roller • stands (not included) to minimize the risk of Saw Blade pinching and kickback. Large panels tend
to sag under their own weight. Supports must be placed under the panel and near the outer edge of the panel.

installed Saw Blades produce a narrow cut causing excessive friction, Saw Blade binding and kickback.
hands and ngers, increasing the risk
of vibration-related injury. Wear suitable gloves to reduce the 3.
vibration effects on the user.
Push the Saw Blade past the • workpiece prior to release.
Make sure to check the Blade • Guard for proper operation. Never
disable the Guard. Do not use the Cut Off Saw if the Guard assembly does not operate properly. Before each use, make sure the Blade Guard does not touch the Saw Blade.
Vibration Hazard:
This tool vibrates during use. Repeated or long-term exposure to vibration may cause temporary or permanent physical injury, particularly to the hands, arms and shoulders. To reduce the risk of vibration-related injury:

just the plug’s gap to the specication on the Technical specication chart.
Do not pry against the electrode or the insulator, the spark plug can be damaged.
Place a suitable container under the 5. Fuel Filter.
Disconnect the fuel lines leading to 6. and from the Fuel Filter and allow fuel to drain onto the container.
Install new Fuel Filter in the same 7. orientation. Properly secure both fuel lines.
Install the new spark plug or the 5. cleaned spark plug into the engine. Gasket-style: Finger-tighten until the gasket contacts the cylinder head, then about 1/2-2/3 turn more. Non-gasket-style: Finger-tighten until the plug contacts the head, then about 1/16 turn more.
Apply dielectric spark plug boot 6. protector (not included) to the end of the spark plug and reattach the wire securely.
Fuel Filter Replacement
WARNING! TO PREVENT SERIOUS INJURY FROM FIRE:
Replace the Fuel Filter (16F) in
a well-ventilated area away from ignition sources. Do not smoke.
Clean up and properly dispose of all 8. fuel.
Wait for at least one hour before use 9. to allow all residual fuel vapors to dissipate. To prevent FIRE, do not
start the engine while the smell of fuel hangs in the air. Remember to
open the fuel valve before restarting the engine. It may take a little longer than usual to start the engine be-
cause the fuel needs to rell the fuel line and new lter.
Wait for engine to cool completely 1. before proceeding.
Wear protective gear including, ANSI-2. approved safety goggles, NIOSHapproved dust mask/respirator, and nitrile gloves.
Close fuel valve leading from gas 3. tank completely.

EMISSION CONTROL
SYSTEM WARRANTY
California and United States Emission Control
Defects Warranty Statement
The California Air Resources Board (herein CARB), the United States Environmental Protection Agency (herein EPA), and Harbor Freight Tools (herein HFT) are pleased to explain the emission control system warranty on your 1995 and later Small Off-Road Engine (herein engine). In California, the engine must be designed, built and equipped to meet the State’s stringent anti-smog standards. Elsewhere within the United States, new off-road, spark-ignition
engines certied for model year 1997 and later, must meet similar
standards set forth by the EPA. HFT must warrant the emission control system on your engine for the periods of time described below, provided there has been no abuse, neglect or improper maintenance of your engine.
Your emission control system may include parts such as the carburetor or fuel-injection system, and the ignition system. Also included may be hoses, belts, connectors and other emissionrelated assemblies.
Where a warrantable condition exists, HFT will repair your engine at no cost to you including diagnosis, parts and labor.
Manufacturer’s Warranty Coverage
The 1995 and later engines are warranted for two (2) years. If any emission-related part on your engine is defective, the part will be repaired or replaced by HFT.
Harbor Freight Tools Emission Control Defects
Warranty Coverage
Engines are warranted for a period of two (2) years relative to emission control parts defects, subject to the provisions set forth below. If any emission related part on your engine is defective, the part will be repaired or replaced by HFT.
Owner’s Warranty Responsibilities
As the engine owner, you are responsible for the performance •
of the required maintenance listed in your Owner’s Manual.
HFT recommends that you retain all receipts covering main-
tenance on your engine, but HFT cannot deny warranty
solely for the lack of receipts or for your failure to ensure the
performance of all scheduled maintenance.
As the engine owner, you should, however, be aware that •
HFT may deny you warranty coverage if your engine or a part
has failed due to abuse, neglect, improper maintenance, or
unapproved modications.
You are responsible for shipping your engine to a HFT war-•
ranty station as soon as a problem exists. Contact the HFT
Customer Service department at the number below to make
shipping arrangements. The warranty repairs should be

completed in a reasonable amount of time, not to exceed 30 days.
If you have any questions regarding your warranty rights and responsibilities, you should contact the Harbor Freight Tools Customer Service Department at 1-800-444-3353.
Harbor Freight Tools Emission Control Defects
Warranty Provisions
1. Length of Coverage
HFT warrants to a rst retail purchaser and each subsequent
purchaser that the engine is free from defects in materials
and workmanship that cause the failure of warranted parts
for a period of two (2) years after the date of delivery to the
rst retail purchaser.
2. No Charge Repair or Replacement
Repair or replacement of any warranted part will be performed
at no charge to the owner if the work is performed through a
warranty station authorized by HFT. For emissions warranty
service, contact the HFT Customer Service Department at
1-800-444-3353.
3. Consequential Damages Coverage
Coverage under this warranty shall also extend to the failure
of any engine components caused by the failure of any war-
ranted part while it is still covered under this warranty.
4. Coverage Exclusions
Warranty claims shall be led in accordance with the provi-
sions of the HFT warranty policy explained in the box at the
top of the previous page. HFT shall not be liable for any loss
of use of the engine, for any alternative usage, for any damage
to goods, loss of time, or inconvenience. Warranty coverage
shall also be excluded for any part which fails, malfunctions,
or is damaged due to failure to follow the maintenance and
operating instructions set forth in the Owner’s Manual includ-
ing, but not limited to:
Use of parts which are not authorized by HFTa) Improper installation, adjustment or repair of the engine b)
or of any warranted part unless performed by an authorized warranty center
Failure to follow recommendations on fuel use contained c) in the Owner’s Manual
Improper or inadequate maintenance of any warranted d) parts
Repairs performed outside of the authorized warranty e) service dealers
Alterations by changing, adding to or removing parts f) from the engine.
5. Service and Maintenance
Component parts which are not scheduled for replacement
as required maintenance or are scheduled only for regular
inspection to the effect of “repair or replace as necessary”
are warranted for the warranty period. Any warranted part
which is scheduled for replacement as required maintenance
is warranted for the period of time up to the rst scheduled
replacement point for that part. Any replacement part, pro-
vided it is equivalent in durability and performance, may be
used in performance of maintenance or repairs. The owner
is responsible for commissioning a qualied technician/me-
chanic to perform all required maintenance, as outlined in
the Inspection, Cleaning, and Maintenance section in this
manual.
