Unpacking and Checking the Contents

The complete SK31101 package includes the following items:

Introduction

The CHENBRO SK31101 can house one 3.5” Hot-swap HDD in one 5.25” bay converter. The ability for
conversion allows existing server or PC to perform with one Hot-swap HDD and keep the flexibility.
In all, SK31101 is the best solution as value added feature and perform ance.

z Support up to SATA-II and SAS (3.0 Gb/s)
z Compatible with 3.5” SAS and SATA-II HDD
z Support inrush current control for HDD Hot-swapping
z LED indicate activity and failure
z Key lock for HDD security

Host / Drive / Power Backplane Interface

z 1 to 1 connection for SATA / SAS HDD
z 1 x SATA / SAS Signal + Power (7+15 pin) connector at HDD side of backplane
z 1 x SATA / SAS interface (7 pin)
z 1 x DC power connectors (big 4-pin D-type)

The HDD activity LDE is available for SAS or most SATA-II HDDs.
If SA TA-I HDD applied, the HDD activity LED will not work.

Connector & Switch Definition

HDD Failure Signal Connector

This connector is for the SAS / SATA RAID card with HDD failure signal support such as LSI MegaRAID
8308ELP. Connect the 2-pin cable on SK31101 backplane and RAID card to activate the HDD failure LED.

Setting for HDD Failure Signal Cable Connection (SK31101)

HDD Failure LED Cable:
26H115311-001

Setting for HDD Failure Signal Cable Connection (RAID Card)

Connect the yellow wire of the cable to the CATHODE of the HDD failure connector on RAI D card.
Refer to your RAID card’s user manual for the detailed pin definition.

Installation Procedures

The following is the installation procedures of HDD assembly.

Hot-swap HDD Assembly

a. Push the blue latch of HDD tray and pull it out from the cage

b. Remove the vent cover and four screws from the vent cover

c. Attach HDD with four screws per tray
