IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always
be followed, including the following:
1. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS.
2. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs. Always use hot
pads or pot holders until unit cools.
3. To protect against risk of electric shock, do not immerse the cord,
plug or cooking body in water or any other liquid.

children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or
lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given
supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliances by a

5. Close supervision is necessary when this appliance is used by or
near children.
6. Always unplug from wall socket when not in use or before cleaning.
Allow to cool completely before putting on or taking off the parts,
and before cleaning this appliance.
7. Do not operate this appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after
this appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner.
Bring this appliance to a qualied technician for examination, repair
or adjustment.
8. The use of accessories or attachments not recommended by the
manufacturer may cause re, electrical shock or injury.

10. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, where it can
inadvertently be pulled on or tripped over, or touch hot surfaces,

11. Do not place this appliance on or near a hot gas or electric burner

13. Use on a sturdy, heat-resistant, at, level surface only.
15. Always turn the heating control dial to OFF plugging cord into the
electrical outlet. To disconnect, turn the heating control dial to OFF,
then remove plug from electrical outlet.
16. This appliance generates heat during use. Proper precautions
must be taken to prevent the risk of burns, re or other damage to
persons or property.
17. A re may occur if the Hot Plate is covered or touching ammable
material, including curtains, wall coverings, clothing, dish towels or
other ammable materials, when in operation. To avoid excessive
heat on wall(s) while cooking, always keep a space of at least 4
inches between this appliance and the rear and side walls.
18. Extreme caution must be used when moving any pot or pan
containing hot oil, other hot liquids or other hot substances from
this appliance.
19. Use with wall receptacle only.
20. Do not clean with metal scouring pads. This can scratch and ruin
the nish of this appliance. Pieces can break off the pad and touch
electrical parts, creating hazards.
21. Exercise extreme caution when using containers constructed of
ceramic or glass.
22. Extreme caution must be used when moving any pot or pan
containing hot oil, other hot liquids or other hot substances from
this appliance.
23. Do not cover this appliance with metal foils. This may cause
overheating of this appliance
24. Do not leave this appliance on overnight or for prolonged periods
of non-use.
25. Always keep hands, hair and cloth away from the cooking surface.
26. Do not leave this appliance unattended during use or when Hot
Plate is ON.
27. Do not use as a portable heater.
28. Do not use for other than intended use.
14. It is recommended that this appliance not be moved when it
remains hot.

BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME
1. Carefully unpack the Hot Plate and remove all packaging and materials.
2. Place the Hot Plate on a dry, clean and at surface.
3. Make sure the heating control dial is in the OFF position.
Plug the Hot Plate into a 120V AC 3-prong electrical outlet.
4. Turn the heating control dial to HIGH. The red power light will illuminate.
5. Allow the Hot Plate burner to operate empty for 10 minutes to burn off any
manufacturing residue.
NOTE: You may notice a slight odor; this is normal and should quickly disappear.
The burner may appear to turn red if no pot or pan is placed on the hot plate
during the heating process.
IMPORTANT: With the exception of the initial burn-off, NEVER turn any burner
ON without placing a pot or pan onto the heating plate.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
IMPORTANT: Use pots and pans that are at and stable with a base size no larger
than the heating plate.
CAUTION: Avoid using pans that are unstable and easily tipped.
CAUTION: Avoid dropping items onto the heating plate.
1. Wipe excess water/condensation off pots, lids, and utensils prior to use.
Place pots and/or pans in the center of the burner.
2. Make sure the heating control dial is in the OFF position.
Plug the Hot Plate into a 120V AC electrical outlet.
3. Turn the heating control dial to select from 4 heating mode selections:
WARM, LOW, MEDIUM and HIGH. The red power light will illuminate.
4. When cooking is complete, turn the heating control dial to OFF,
then remove the plug from electrical outlet.
CAUTION: Make sure hot pots or pans do not touch the base, as this could
damage the surface.

SINGLE CAST IRON BURNER CHP-40, new product
to be free from defect in material and workmanship for a period of one year from the date
of purchase when used with food, non-abrasive liquids (other than detergents) and nonabrasive semi-liquids, providing everything has been used as directed, and not in excess of the
indicated amounts.
Limited One-Year Warranty: SENSIO Inc. hereby warrants that for a period of ONE YEAR
from the date of purchase, this product will be free from defects in material and workmanship.
At its sole discretion, SENSIO Inc. will replace the product found to be defective, or issue a
refund on the product during the warranty period. The warranty is only valid for the original
retail purchaser from the date of initial retail purchase and is not transferable. The original sales
receipt is required as proof of purchase in order to obtain warranty validation. Distributors and
retailers selling this product do not have the right to alter, modify, or in any way revise the
terms and conditions of the warranty.
This one-year limited warranty does not apply to any product that has become worn, defective,
damaged or broken due to abuse, misuse, overloading or tampering, or due to repairs or
servicing by a non-approved third-party vendor. The one-years limited warranty does not cover
incidental or consequential damages of any kind.
Exclusions: The warranty does not cover normal wear of parts or damage resulting from any
of the following: negligent use of the product, use of improper voltage or current, improper
routine maintenance, use contrary to the operating instructions, disassembly, repair, or
alteration by anyone. Also, the warranty does not cover Acts of God such as re, oods,
hurricanes, or tornadoes. SENSIO Inc. shall not be liable for any incidental or consequential
damages caused by the breach of any express or implied warranty. Apart from the extent
prohibited by applicable law, any implied warranty of merchantability or tness for a
particular purpose is limited in time to the duration of the warranty. Some states, provinces or
jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages,
or limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, and therefore, the above exclusions or
limitations may not apply to you. The warranty covers specic legal rights which may vary by
state, province and/or jurisdiction.
The one year limited warranty is applicable only to appliances purchased in the United States;
this supersedes all other express product warranty or guarantee statements. For Chef Built
products sold outside of the United States, the warranty is the responsibility of the local
importer or distributor. This warranty may vary according to all applicable laws and regulations.
How To Obtain Warranty Service: You must contact Customer Service at our toll-free number:
1-866-832-4843. A Customer Service Representative will attempt to resolve warranty issues
over the phone. If the Customer Service Representative is unable to resolve the problem, you
will be provided with a case number and asked to return the product to SENSIO Inc. Attach
a tag to the product that includes: your name, address, daytime contact telephone number,
case number, and description of the problem. Also, include a copy of the original sales receipt.
Carefully package the tagged product with the sales receipt, and send it (with shipping and
insurance prepaid) to SENSIO Inc.’s address. SENSIO Inc. shall bear no responsibility or liability
for the returned product while in transit to SENSIO Inc.’s Customer Service Department.
USER MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
This appliance requires little maintenance. It contains no user serviceable parts. Do not
try to repair it yourself. Contact a qualied appliance repair technician if the product
requires servicing.
SAFETY & TROUBLESHOOTING
1. This appliance is equipped with a thermal cutoff safety device to prevent
overheating.
2. If the appliance has shut down automatically, remove all pots or pans from burner.
Turn the heating control dial to OFF and unplug from the electric outlet. Allow
approximately 10 minutes for the unit to cool down.
3. Plug the power cord back into the outlet, turn the heating control dial to the
desired setting and continue to cook.
CARE & CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
CAUTION: Unplug from electrical outlet and allow to cool thoroughly before cleaning
the unit.
1. Turn the heating control dial to OFF and unplug from the electric outlet.
2. When the burner cools down completely and the Hot Plate unit is safe to handle,
clean the unit using a damp, soft cloth or sponge and warm, soapy water. Wipe
the surface of the burner, burner ring, non-skid feet, and base.
Note: For best results, clean the appliance when it is warm, using warm, soapy
water. DO NOT use cold water on warm surface
WARNING: Never use harsh abrasives, steel wool or scouring pads to clean
the hot plate burner or the base as they may damage the surfaces and/or cause
hazards.
3. Thoroughly dry burner and burner ring before use.
4. Do not immerse the cord, plug or base in water or any other liquid.

ANTES DEL PRIMER USO
1. Saque el hornillo con cuidado del empaque y quite todo el material de embalaje.
2. Coloque el hornillo sobre una supercie seca, limpia y plana.
3. Verique que la perilla de control de calor esté en la posición OFF.
Enchufe el hornillo a un tomacorriente de 3 clavijas de 120 V CA.
4. Lleve la perilla de control de calor a HIGH. Se encenderá la luz roja de encendido.
5. Deje que el hornillo de placa funcione vacío por 10 minutos para quemar los
residuos de fábrica.
NOTA: Puede notar un ligero olor; esto es normal y debe desaparecer rápido.
Puede parecer que el hornillo se torna rojo si no se colocan ollas o sartenes sobre
la placa durante el proceso de cocción.
IMPORTANTE: A excepción del primer encendido, NUNCA encienda un hornillo
sin colocar una olla o sartén sobre la placa de calefacción.
INSTRUCCIONES DE FUNCIONAMIENTO

1. Limpie el exceso de agua/condensación de ollas, tapas y utensilios antes de
usarlos. Coloque las ollas o sartenes en el centro del hornillo.
2. Verique que la perilla de control de calor esté en la posición OFF.
Enchufe el hornillo a un tomacorriente de 120 V CA.
3. Gire la perilla de control de calor para seleccionar entre 4 modos de calor:
WARM (tibio), LOW (bajo), MEDIUM (medio) y HIGH (alto). Se encenderá la luz roja
de encendido.
4. Cuando complete la cocción, lleve la perilla de control de calor OFF,
luego quite el enchufe del tomacorriente.

SENSIO Inc. garantiza que el nuevo producto CHEF-BUILT® HORNILLO DE HIERRO FUNDIDO
CHP-40, estará libre de defectos de material y mano de obra por un período de un año
a partir de la fecha de la compra cuando se utiliza con alimentos, líquidos no abrasivos (a
excepción de los detergentes) y semilíquidos no abrasivos, siempre y cuando todo se utilice
según las instrucciones y que no se superen las cantidades indicadas.
Garantía limitada por un año: SENSIO Inc. garantiza que por un período de UN AÑO a
partir de la fecha de la compra, este producto estará libre de defectos de materiales y mano
de obra. A su exclusivo criterio, SENSIO Inc. reemplazará el producto que se encuentre
defectuoso o emitirá un reembolso por el producto durante el período de garantía. La garantía

INSTRUCCIONES DE MANTENIMIENTO DEL USUARIO
Este aparato requiere poco mantenimiento. No contiene piezas que el usuario
pueda reparar. No intente repararla por cuenta propia. Comuníquese con un técnico
calicado en reparación de electrodomésticos si el producto requiere reparación.
SEGURIDAD Y SOLUCIÓN DE PROBLEMAS
1. Este aparato posee un dispositivo de seguridad de corte térmico para evitar el
sobrecalentamiento.
2. Si el aparato se apagó automáticamente, quite todas las ollas o sartenes del
hornillo. Lleve la perilla de control de calor a OFF y desenchufe el aparato del
tomacorriente. Espere unos 10 minutos para que se enfríe la unidad.
3. Vuelva a enchufar el cable en el tomacorriente, lleve la perilla de control de calor
al ajuste deseado y siga cocinando.
INSTRUCCIONES DE LIMPIEZA Y CUIDADO
PRECAUCIÓN: Desenchufe del tomacorriente y deje enfriar por completo antes de
limpiar la unidad.
1. Lleve la perilla de control de calor a OFF y desenchufe el aparato del
tomacorriente.
2. Cuando el hornillo se enfríe por completo y la unidad se pueda manipular,
límpiela con una esponja o paño húmedo y suave, agua tibia y jabón. Limpie la
supercie del hornillo, el aro, las patas antideslizantes y la base.
Nota: Para obtener mejores resultados, limpie el aparato cuando está tibio con
agua tibia y jabón. NO use agua fría sobre una supercie caliente
ADVERTENCIA: Nunca use lana de acero o estropajos abrasivos para limpiar
el hornillo de placa o la base ya que podrían dañar las supercies o generar
peligros.
3. Seque bien el hornillo y el aro antes de usar.
4. No sumerja el cable, el enchufe o la base en agua u otro líquido.
