BEFORE YOU BEGIN
Before you Begin
Unpacking Instructions
Immediately upon receiving a fixture, carefully unpack the carton, check the contents to ensure that all parts are present, and have been received i n good c ondition. Notify the shippe r immedia tely and retai n packi ng mate rial for i nspection if any parts appear damaged from s hipping or the carton it self shows signs of m ishandli ng. S ave the c arton an d all pac king materials. In the event that a fi xture must be returned to the factory, it is i mportan t that the fixtu re be retu rned i n the original factory box and packing.
Powering
To determine the power requirements for a particular fixture, see the label affixed to the back plate of the fixture or refer to the fixture’s specifica tion s chart. A fixtu re’s li sted curre nt rating is its av erage current draw under no rmal co ndition s. All fixtures must be powe red directly o ff a swi tched ci rcuit a nd canno t be run off a r heosta t (varia ble resi stor) or d imme r circuit, even if the rheo stat or dimme r channel is used solely for a 0% to 100 % switc h. Bef ore applyi ng pow er to a fixture, check that the source voltage ma tches the fixtu re’s r equireme nt. All fixture s must be connecte d to ci rcui ts with a suitable Earth Ground. C heck the fixtu re or de vice ca refully to make sure tha t if a voltage sele ction switc h exis ts that i t is set to the correct line voltage you will use.

Product Overview
Front View
1. Preset A LEDs
Indicates the current intensity of the channel enume rated. Channels 1 ~ 24.
2. Channel Sliders (1 ~ 24 )
These 24 sliders are used to c o ntrol and/ or program the intensities of channel 1 through 24.
3. Flash Buttons (1 ~ 24)
Flash buttons are used to brin g an indi vidu al c hannel u p to f ull intensity.
4. Preset B LEDs
Indicates the current intensity of the channel enume rated. Channels 25 ~ 48.
5. Scene LEDs
Turns on when relevant scenes are active.
6. Channel Sliders (25 ~ 4 8)
These 24 sliders are used to c o ntrol and/ or program the intensities of channel 25 through 48.
7. Flash Buttons (25 ~ 48)
Flash buttons are used to brin g an indi vidu al c hannel u p to f ull intensity. These are a lso used for pr ogramming .
8. Dark Button
This button is used to mome ntarily bla c kou t overall output o f the controller.
9. DOWN
Down functions to m odify a scene in Edit mode .
BEAT REV
Is used to re v e rse t he c has ing dire cti on o f a program with regular beat.
10. MODE SELECT (10)
Each tap will acti v ate t he ope rating m ode in the order: .CHNS/SCENES , Double Pr eset and Single Preset.
REC SPEED
This button sets the speed o f any of the programs chasing in Mix mode .
11. UP
Up is used to modify a scene i n Edit mode. CHASE REV
Reverses the chasing direction of a scene under Speed Slider Control
12. PAGE
Tap to select pages of scenes from Page 1 ~ 4.

13. DELETE
Deletes any step of a scene. REV ONE Reverses the c hasi ng direc tion of any program.
14. Segment Display
Shows the current acti v ity o r programming state.
15. INSERT
Insert is to add one step or steps into a scene . % OR 0-255 % or 0-255 is used to change display v alue cy cle betw een % and 0 -
255.
16. EDIT
Edit is used to ac tiv a te Edi t mode. ALL REV All Rev is to re v erse the c hasin g directi on of all programs.
17. ADD KILL
In Add mode, m ultiple scenes or Flas h butto ns will be on at a time . In Kill mode, pressing any Fla sh butt on will k ill any o ther scene s prgrams .
REC EXIT Is used to exit from Program or E dit mo de .
18. RECORD
Record is used to activate Record mode or program a step. SHIFT Shift functions only u sed with other but tons.
19. MASTER A
Brings channel 1 ~ 12 to full of current setting.
20. PARK
Used to select Single/Mi x Cha se, b ring C hannel 13 ~ 24 t o full of current setting, or momentarily p rogram a scene into Master B slide r , depend ing on t he current mode .
21. HOLD
This button is used to maintai n current scene .
22. STEP
This button is used to go to next step whe n the S peed Slide r is pushed to the bottom or in E dit mode .
23. AUDI O
Activates au dio sync of chase and audio intensity effec ts.
24. MASTER Slider A
This slider controls ov e rall out put of all channels .
25. MASTER Slider B
This slider controls the c hase of all channels.
26. BLIND
This function takes the chan ne l out of the chase of a program in CHNS/SCENE mode.
27. HOME
This button is used to deac tiv a te the BLIND.
28. TAP SYNC
Repeatedly tapping t his but ton esta blishe s the c ha se speed.

Programming
Record Enable
1. Press and hold down the Record button.

NOTE! The first time you turn on your unit, the default setting of the Record Code is Flash buttons 1, 6, 6 and 8. You may change this code to protect your programs.
Also, please note that this manual will refer often to this procedure exactly as “Record enable”.
Securing your programs
You can protect your programs from being edited by other users by changing the Record Code number sequence.
Enter the current Record Code sequence (Flash buttons 1, 6, 6 and 8).
Press and hold down the Record and Edit buttons at the same time.
While holding the Record and Edit button, tap the desired Flash button to enter a new Record Code. The Record Code consists of 4 Flash buttons (any combination of buttons). It must use 4 Flash buttons.
Enter your new Record Code a second time. All channel LEDs and scene LEDs will flash three times indicating that the Record Code has changed.
Exit Record mode. Tap the Rec Exit button while pressing and holding down the Record button, release the two buttons at a time until the Record mode is disengaged.
IMPORTANT!
Always remember to exit Record mode when you are done programming, otherwise you may lose control of your unit.
Note:
During the process of entering a new Record Code, if upon completion the LEDs do not flash, this means you have failed to change the Record Code.
If in the process of entering a new Record Code you wish to cancel, press and hold down the Record and Exit buttons at the same time to exit.

Be sure that Master faders A & B are both set at maximum. (Master A is at its maximum in the Up position, while Master B is at its maximum in the Down position.)

Once the scene is satisfactory, tap the Record button to program the scene as a step into the memory.

4. Push Channel sl ider 1 to the top position, its LED light at full intensity.
5. Tap the Record button to program this step into memory.
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until you’ve programmed Channel slide rs 1-32.
7. Tap the Mode Select button to change to Chase/Scenes mode..
8. Tap the Flash bu t ton 25 while holding down the Record button, all LEDs will fla sh
indicating you’ve programmed the chase into me m ory.

Press a Flash button between 25 and 48 (Preset B) while holding down the Record button. All LED will flash indicating the scenes have been programmed into memory.
You can continue programming or exit. To exit Program mode, tap the Exit button while hol ding down the Record button, the Record LED should go out.

Tap the Delete button when you reach to the step you wish to delete, all LEDs will flash briefly indicating the deletion of the step.

Tap the Insert button to insert the step you’ve created before, all LEDs will flash, indicating the step is inserted.
Exit Edit mode.

LED lights.
6. Tap the Step bu tton to scroll to the step 4.
7. Tap the Insert button to insert the scene you’v e created be fore.

While holding d own the Up or Down button, tap the Flash button corresponding to the DMX channel of the scene you wish to modify until you reach the desired intensity value read from the Segment Display. Then you may tap the Flash buttons until you are sat i sfied with the new scene.
Repeat steps 1, 2 and 3 until all the steps have been modified.

Implementation
1. During receiving and sendin g M IDI data, all MIDI scenes and channels being run will automati cally paused i f there
is no response within 10 minute s.
2. During receiving and sending file dump, the controller will automatically search for or send Device ID of 55h(85), a
file named DC2448 with an extensi on of “BIN(SPACE)”.
3. File dump allows this controller to send its MIDI data to next u nit or other MIDI d evices.

Brief Summary of Main F unctio ns
Reverse the direction of the scene
1. Reverse the direction of all the scenes. Press the ALL REV Button, all the scenes should change their dire ctions.
2. Reverse the chasing direction of all the programs with speed control: Press the Chase Rev Button.
3. Reverse the chasing direction of all the programs with standard beat: Pr ess the Beat Rev Bu tton.
4. Reverse chasing direction of a ny program: Press and hold down the Rec One Butt on, then press down the Flash
Button corresponding to your desired program and release together.
Fade Time
1. The amount of time it will take f or the dimmer to go from zero output to maximum ou tput, and vic e verse.
2. Fade time is adjusted through the Fade Time S lider, which varies from instant to 10 mimutes.
Tap Sync Button
1. The Tap Sync button is used to set and synchroni ze the chase ra te (the rate at which all scenes will sequence) by
tapping the button several tim es. The chase rate will synchronize to the time of the last two taps. The LED above the Step Button wi l l flash at the new chase rate. The chase rate may be set anytime whether or not a program is running.
2. Tap Sync will ove rride any previous setting of t he speed slider control until the slider is moved again.
3. Use of Tap Sync i n setting a sta ndard beat is the same with speed control slider.
Master Slider
Master Slider control provides proportion level control ov er all channe ls and scenes with the exception of the Flash Buttons. For ex ample: Whenev er the Master slider control is at m inimum all stage outputs will be at zero except f or any resulting from a Flash Button or FULL ON Button. If the Master is at 50%, all outputs will be at only 5 0 % of the setting of current channe l or scenes except for any resulting from a Flash B utton or FULL O N Button. If the Master is at full all outputs will foll ow the unit sett i ng . M aster A always controls outputs of channel s. M aster B controls program or a scene except in Double Press Mode.
Single Mode
1. All programs will run in sequential order st arting in the order of program nu mber.
2. The Segment Display will read the running pr og ram number.
3. All programs will be controlled by the same Speed Slid er.
4. Press the MODE SELECT BUTTON and select “CHNS
SCENES”.
5. Press the PARK BUTTON to select SINGLE CHASE MODE. A red LED will indicate this selection.
Mix Mode
1. Will run all programs synchronously.
2. All programs can be controlled by the same S LIDER SPEED, or each programs speed may be controlled
individually. (See Speed Setting).
3. Press the MODE SELECT BUTTON and select “CHNS
SCENES”.
4. Press the PARK BUTTON to sel ect MIX CHASE MODE. A yellow L ED will indicate t his selection.
Dimmer Display
1. The 3-Digit Segm ent Display is used to display intensity perc entage or absolut e DMX value.
2. To change between percentage and absolute va lue: Press and hold the Shift Button. While holding down the Shi ft
button, press t he 5 or 0-255 Butto n to switch betwe en percentage and absolute values.

3. If the Segment Display reads, for example, “076”, it means a percentage value 76%. If the Segment Display reads
“076”, it means the DMX value 76.
Blind and Home
1. Blind function takes channels temporally out from a chase, when the chase is running, and gives you manual control
over the channel.
2. Press and hold t he Blind Button and tap the relative Flash Button y ou want to temporarily take ou t of the chase.
3. To return to nor mal chase again press and hold the Home Button and push the Flash Button you want to return to
normal chase.
Park
1. In CHASE O P SCENES Mode , press down the but ton you can change the chasing mode of programs between
Single Mode and Mix Mode.
2. In Double Preset Mode, pressing down this button is equal to pushing Master slider B to the top.
3. In Single Preset Mode, this button could temporarily record current output, with Master Slider B to adjust.
Add and Kill
1. The ADD/KILL Button changes the mode of the f l ash buttons. Normally the f l ash buttons ar e in Add mode,
whereas pressi ng any flash butt on will not kill other scenes, all owing multiple scenes to be on at a time.
2. The Kill mode i s activated by pr essing the Add/ Ki l l button and illuminating the L ED above it. Pressing any flash
button will kill other active S CENE or Program.
3. In Kill mode, t he killed program does not stop running but ca n not output.
Double Preset
1. Press Mode Select Button to enter A Double Preset Mode.
2. In this mode, Channel Slide rs 1-24 and channe l sliders 25-48 both control Cha nnel 1-24.
3. Master A controls channel Slider 1-24 while M aster B controls Channel Slide rs 25-48.
4. In this Mode, no scene can be recorded.
Example
1. Enter the Double Preset Mode
2. Push Channel Sliders 1 to 6 to the top and move Channel Slider s 19-24 to the maxim um.
3. Move Master A and B to the same level and push them to the same di rection, you will ge t a scene.

Appendix
Maintenance
To maintain optimum pe rforma nce and m inimize w ear, de vic e should be c lea ned freque ntly. U sage a nd envir onmen t are contributing factors in determining frequency. As a general rule, device should be cleaned at least twice a month. Dust build up can cause overheating. This can lead to increased mechanical wear. Be sure to power off device before conducting maintenance.
Unplug device from powe r. U se a vacuu m or ai r comp ressor and a sof t brush to remov e dust c ollecte d on exte rnal ven ts and internal component s.
DMX Primer
There are 512 channel s in a D MX-512 c onnecti on. Cha nnels may be as signed i n any ma nner. A fixtu re capable o f receiving DMX 512 will requi re one o r a numbe r of seque nti al channe ls. The user must ass ign a sta rting add ress o n the fixture that indicates the fir st channel reserve d in the control ler. T here are many di fferent type s of DMX c ontrolla ble fixtures and they all may vary i n the total num ber of cha nnel s requi red. Choo sing a start a ddres s should be planne d in advance. Channels shoul d nev er overla p. If the y do, thi s will result in e rratic operatio n of th e fixtures w hose s tarting address is set incorrectl y. Yo u can how ever, c ontrol multiple fixtu res of the same ty pe u sing the same s tarting ad dre ss as long as the intended re sult is t hat of u nison move ment or o peration. In other w ords, the f ixture s will be slaved tog ether and all respond exactly the same.
DMX fixtures are design ed to r ecei ve dat a thro ugh a s erial Dai sy Ch ain. A Daisy C hain co nnecti on is w here th e DATA OUT of one fixture connects to the DATA IN of the next fixture. The order in which the fixtures are connected is not important and has no effect on how a controller communicates to each fixture. Use an order that provides for the easiest and most direct cabling. Connect fixtures using shielded two conductor twisted pair cable with three pin XLR male to female connectors. The shield connection is pin 1, while pin 2 is Data Negative (S-) and pin 3 is Data positive (S+). CHAUVET carries 3-pin XLR DMX compliant cables, DMX-10 (33’), DMX-4.5 (15’) and DMX-1.5 (5’)
Returns Procedure
