1x4 CAT5 Audio Distribution Module
By
6
The P-1014 functions as the heart of you're CAT5 audio system. It is a 1x4 distribution module that delivers power and audio signals to 4 amplified keypads (model AB-114 or AB-124). 4 IR emitter outputs on the P-1014 allow IR signals detected by the AB-124 to control source devices such as CD players and AM/FM tuners.
!
Both RJ-45 and 110 punch down connectors for easy setup
!
Integrated single source audio input
!
4 common IR emitter outputs
Expansion connectors are used to hook up additional units for more CAT5 audio outputs.
Connection LEDs light when an amplified keypad is attached. Only 4 keypads (1 per zone) can be connected at a time. If both RJ-45 and 110 connectors are used, the RJ-45 will have priority.

How Does it Work?
Channel Vision’s CAT5 Audio System uses Category 5 cable to distribute power, audio, and IR control signals. Power and line-level audio signals are delivered to the keypads which amplify the signal and distribute it to a pair of speakers. The keypads have IR sensors that detect signals from standard hand held remote controls. These IR signals are then transmitted through the CAT5 wire back to an input module where they activate IR emitters control the source devices. IR emitters attach directly to the front of the source devices and recreate the IR signals that were produced by the remote control.

Required components
Amplified Keypad ... 1 per speaker pair. Drives the speakers,
controls volume and relays IR information. Mount the keypad in single gang low-voltage ring or deep J-box (if required by code). Compatible with Decorator style wall plates. Blue LEDs show volume level. Keypad completely mutes when bottom LED is off. (No amplifier hiss like some other systems.)
AB-T2454 ... Power supply. 1 per every P-1014. 120-240VAC (included with the P-1014)
Optional components
AB-202 ... Single source module. 1 per system. Interfaces
sources to the system. Mount near audio components (CD player, receiver etc.)
AB-301 ... Universal input module. Can be used to provide local source input in any room and/or to replace the AB-202 as the system input. The AB-301 is a great way to enable simple connection of local sources into the zone - TV’s, MP3 players, computer sources, etc.
A0501 ... Remote control. Compatible with: AB-114, AB-124, P-1044, and A4601.
IR-3002 & IR-3001 ... Single and dual head IR flashers. Use one head per source to control from the remote room.
5015 ... Status power supply. Plugs into switched outlet of receiver. When the receiver is turned off, the entire system mutes. (If a supply is plugged into the status input, and is not powered, the system mutes.)

Most A/V receivers have a ‘Tape Monitor’ or ‘Room 2’ output that can be used to feed directly into the local input on the P-1014. This input is audio sensed so the keypad will mute when no signal is present.
Both 110 and RJ-45 connectors are provided for convenience, but only 4 amplified keypads (1 per zone) can be powered at any one time. The LED indicator next to the active output will light up when a keypad is connected

LEDs light when audio is sensed on the corresponding input.
The priority switch determines which input will be heard (either System or Local) when audio is sensed from both.
Expand your system by connecting a CAT5 jumper from the expansion output to of the first P-1014 to the System input of the second P-1014. Use either the RJ-45 connectors (as shown) or the 110 connector.
Optional Status power input senses when a connector is plug into it. If the plug is connected and no power is present: The keypads will mute. If the plug is connected and power is present: The keypads will not mute.
If nothing is plugged in: the system will still work normally.
Keypad connection LEDs light when an a keypad is attached. If a keypad is attached to the 110 connector, the LED below it will light. If a keypad is attached to the RJ-45 connector, the LED above it will light. If a keypad is attached to both connectors, the LED above the RJ-45 will light and only the keypad connected to the RJ-45 will be active.

A maximum of 4 keypads (1 per zone) can be powered from each P-1014
