Important Safety Warnings
This manual contains instructions and warnings that should be followed during the
installation, operating and storage of the UPS system. Please keep this manual for
further reference.
CAUTION! To prevent the risk of fire or electric shock, install in a temperature and humidity
controlled indoor area free of conductive contaminants. (See the specifications for the
acceptable temperature and humidity range)
CAUTION! To reduce the risk of overheating the UPS, do not cover the UPS' cooling vents and
avoid exposing the unit to direct sunlight or installing the unit near heat emitting appliances
such as radiators.
CAUTION! Do not plug the UPS input into its own output.
CAUTION! Do not allow liquids or any foreign object to enter the UPS. Do not place beverages
or any other liquid-containing vessels on or near the unit.
CAUTION! In the event of an emergency, press the OFF button and disconnect the power
cord from the AC power supply to completely disable the UPS.
CAUTION! The UPS installation must be correctly grounded in order to reduce leakage current
below 3.5mA.
Attention The UPS output is supplied by two sources. When the UPS is disconnected from
mains power, hazardous voltages may still be present from the internal battery. The battery
should be disconnected when maintenance or service work inside the UPS is necessary.
CAUTION! Servicing of batteries should be undertaken or supervised by qualified personnel
only.
CAUTION! When replacing the batteries, use the same number and type of batteries.
CAUTION! Dispose of batteries in the correct manner and in line with local laws and
regulations. Never dispose of batteries in a fire. Do not attempt to open the battery. Released
electrolyte is harmful to the skin and eyes.
CAUTION! Unplug the UPS prior to cleaning and do not use liquid or spray detergent.
CAUTION! A battery can present a risk of electric shock and short circuit.
CAUTION! This is a category C2 UPS product. In a residential environment, this product may
cause radio interference, in which case the user many be required to take additional measures.

Installation & Operation
Initial Set-up
After unpacking the unit, please avoid placing
the unit in direct sun light, excessive heat,
excessive humidity or in contact with fluids
of any type. Please allow 20cm space around
the unit for unrestricted airflow.
Connect Mains Power
Plug the UPS into an electrical outlet that does not share a circuit with any other heavy
electrical loads. Please charge the UPS for at least 6 hours prior to use.
Connect Equipment
Connect critical equipment to the battery backup outlets, these are supported automatically
when a mains failure occurs. Connect equipment that only needs surge suppression to the
surge protected outlets. Power is not supplied to these outlets when the unit is switched off.
Therefore, please be sure to switch the unit on.
NOTE: Please DO NOT connect scanners or printers to the battery backup outlets.
Connect Modem/Phone/Network for Surge Protection
Connect a single modem/phone line into the surge-protected “IN” outlet on the back panel of
the UPS unit. Connect the computer to the "OUT" outlet with another ethernet cable.
Connect Communication Port
To allow for unattended UPS shutdown/start-up and status monitoring, connect the
communication cable between the UPS and a USB port on your PC. With the monitoring
software installed, you can schedule UPS shutdown/start-up and monitor UPS status through
the PC.
Software Installation
1) Please download the monitoring and shutdown software from the website
www.certaups.com/downloads to download ViewPower software.
2) When your computer restarts, the monitoring software will appear as an orange plug icon
located in the system tray, near the clock.
