Starting Up

Assembling the Accessories

The steam hose with the steam gun must be connected to the appliance, and the accessory must be attached before the unit is used.

Steam Hose

To start with, the steam hose must be connected to the steam socket on the front of the unit. To do this, flip the black cover flap down, then press the connector of the steam hose firmly into the steam socket until it clicks into place. (Fig 1)
Fig. 1
Fig. 2
To remove the steam hose, press in both release buttons on the sides of the steam connector, then pull it out from the steam socket. (Fig 2)

Extension Tubes

Assemble the extension hoses if the steam cleaner is to be used to clean floors or difficult to reach areas. To do this, push the open end of the tube into the steam gun until the release button of the steam gun until the release button of the steam gun clicks into place (Fig 3). Add one or two extension tubes as needed.
Fig. 3
Fig. 4
Press in the appropriate release button and pull the tubes apart with a downward movement to take the extension tube off again (Fig 4).

Floor Nozzle

Attach the floor nozzle to the end of the extension tube. Ensure that the nozzle clicks into place on the assembly (Fig 5). The floor nozzle is ideal for cleaning washable wall and floor coverings. It may be used with or without the cleaning cloth, however we recommend using the cloth to protect coverings in the case of sensitive surfaces such wood or linoleum.
Place the floor nozzle on the cleaning cloth and secure the overhanging material under the cleaning cloth clips on the left and right. Press on the inner sides of the yellow holder, then open the clips and the cleaning cloth can then be secured in place (Fig 6).
Fig. 5
Fig. 6
To take the nozzle off again , press the appropriate release button (Fig 4), and pull the nozzle off with a downward movement.
Note: The floor nozzle is delivered with a separate connector for packaging reasons. Assemble the connector as illustrated below.

Accessory Adaptor

The steam cleaner has a range of varied attachment nozzles to enable the most effective and thorough cleaning of different surfaces. First assemble the accessory adaptor so that these attachments can be fixed to the steam cleaner hose. The accessory adaptor can be attached directly to both the steam gun and the end of one or more extension tubes.
Ensure that the adaptor is firmly pushed in until it clicks into place (Fig 7). Press in the appropriate release button and pull apart with a downward movement to take the adaptor off again.

Jet Nozzle

Simply push the jet nozzle firmly into the accessory adaptor to attach it (Fig 8). This nozzle makes it possible to clean hard to reach places such as corners, joints and toilets with ease. The jet nozzle may be removed by pulling it off with a downward movement.

Brush Nozzles

The two brush attachments are pushed firmly onto the accessory adapter. Even the most stubborn dirt can be removed from blinds, central heating radiators, valves etc.. using the small metal brush (fig 9). The larger nylon brush (fig 10) is suitable for heavy staining on less sensitive materials such as stainless steel or stone. The brush nozzles are removed by simply pulling them off with a downward movement.

2-in-1 Nozzle

The 2-in-1 nozzle consists of a right-angled steam attachment onto which the window cleaner can be attached. Push the right-angled steam attachment firmly onto the detail nozzle. Pull the cotton cover over the nozzle for more thorough cleaning and to protect the work surface (Fig 11). Fix the window cleaner with the rubber blade to the right-angled steam attachment if windows, mirrors or tiles are to be cleaned (Fig 12).

CAUTION: Always test the steam cleaner first on a hidden or concealed area of the surface or fabric to be cleaned to check its tolerance to the steam.
Steam may result in bleaching of painted/varnished wood.
Steam may discolour shiny plastics.
Acrylic, velvet or linen react very sensitively to the temperature of steam.
Do not use the steam cleaner on products without having first carried out a suitability test on a concealed area. Kogan.com cannot be held responsible for damage to objects, materials, people, animals or plants that occurs due to the unsuitable use of steam or improper use of the appliance.
Only fill tank with pure water. Do not use any additives at all, as they can damage the unit. It is advisable to use distilled water to prevent limescale deposits if you water is hard. Otherwise boil the water first to extend the products service life. CAUTION: Do not exceed the maximum quantity of 1.5 litres when filling the tank.

Operating the Steam Cleaner

Connection to Mains Supply

Plug the steam cleaner into the wall socket (Fig 15) and switch the appliance on with the ON/OFF switch (Fig 16).
Fig. 15 Fig. 16
The green operation light and the red heating lamp (Fig 16) will both light up. The green light will light up as soon as the power has been connected and the unit switched on. The red heating lamp indicates that the unit is heating up, and
6
it will go out once the unit has reached operating temperature (which is normally approximately 8 minutes). Once the red lamp is out and the green light remains lit, the unit is ready for use.

Using the Steam Cleaner

WARNING: Never aim the steam outlet at people, animals, plants or electrical systems).
Release the child-proof locking device by pushing the black triangular pin on the right-hand side of the steam gun towards the left (Fig 17). Hot steam will now escape if the steam button is operated. To start with, hold the steam gun over an old cloth to absorb any initial water spray. Operate the steam button until the steam is being emitted evenly. Cleaning can now begin.
Fig. 17
Do not aim the steam outlet as a single spot for too long. Loosen dirt by moving the steam jet back and forth.
Do not tip the appliance by more than 45° during use, and ensure that the appliance always stands on a firm base. One full tank is enough for a maximum of 50 minutes use. Do not leave the unit unsupervised while switched on, and if children are nearby, be sure to use the child-proof lock to secure the steam switch. To do this, press the triangular black pin on the left-hand side of the steam gun to the right.
WARNING: Housing and accessories will become hot during use! Allow products to cool down before changing any accessories. Never open the tank cap while the unit is switched on, as the tank will be under pressure!
NOTE: The steam cleaner is fitter with an overheating cut-out switch. The unit will switch off automatically on reaching a temperature of 180°C to prevent overheating. Disconnect unit from the mains immediately by removing the plug from the socket. Allow the unit 30 minutes to cool down before plugging it in again.
NOTE: Residual steam will continue to escape for a few seconds after you switch off the steam function.

Topping Up the Water

The tank must be topped up if the steam flow being emitted starts to decrease. Switch the steam cleaner off by pressing the ON/OFF switch. The green operating lamp will go out. Then press the steam release button on the steam gun to release all remaining pressure inside the tank, then lock the gun. Remove the plug from the mains and allow the unit to cool down. Take care when opening the plug as the water in the tank may still be slightly under pressure even after the unit has cooled down. Press the cap downwards and turn anti-clockwise, allowing any pressure to escape before removing the cap fully from the unit. As the air escaping may still be hot, you should use a cloth in your hand when opening the cap. Top the unit up with water by using the measuring jug and funnel, then carefully close the tank cap again. The steam cleaner can now be plugged in and switched on again. The unit will be ready to use once the red heating lamp goes out again.

Ending Operations and Storage

Switch the unit off. The green operating lamp will go out. Press the steam button on the steam gun (Fig 19) to release all remaining pressure. Secure the steam gun by pushing the locking pin on the left-hand side of the handle to the right. Remove the main plug from the socket and allow the unit to cool down. Empty the water tank entirely to stop deposits or limescale settling (Fig 20).
Fig. 19 Fig. 20
Do not close the water tank until it has dried out completely. The steam cleaner must have cooled down completely before being put away. Store the unit so that it is out of reach of children. The extension tube with the assembled floor nozzle may be inserted into the parking holder on the back of the unit for storage purposes or for short breaks while working.
