Safety Warning
1. The bed is to be operated by a trained competent person.
2. This unit is mains powered. Ensure it is disconnected from the mains supply before cleaning or servicing.
3. Crushing hazard. Ensure no person or animal goes under the bed.
4. Do not store anything under the bed, this could lead to damage to the bed and make the bed un­safe.
5. Apply brakes before moving the client in or out of the bed.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Equipment installation instructions
To set up the equipment you will need a screwdriver, no other tools are required. Due to the weight of some of the parts the Quoddy requires 2 people to assemble it.
The bed is supplied on travel racks (4).

Step 1 - Separate ends from the Carrier
Loosen the four hand wheels (5) that hold the mounting brackets (6) and ends together.
Separate the Ends (1) and (2).
Step 2 - Attach ends to the main frame
1. Slide the Head/Foot Ends into the main frame (3), sliding the smaller sections (6) inside the larger sections (7) (On main frame 3).
Note: The ends are identical apart from the pictures.
2. A gap of 25mm (1”) should be left between the main frame and head/foot board.
Once in place tighten the black hand wheels (5) .

Step 3 - Attach/assemble the electrics
Plug the leads into the control box (8) Fig.2 underneath the backrest section. The sockets are coded with numbers Fig.1

Step 4 - Prepare to use
1. Plug in to 13 amp socket and turn on.
2. Apply brakes before moving the client in or out of the bed.

To Extend the Quoddy:
1. Loosen hand wheels (5) Pic. 1
2. Pull Frame out to next set of holes (11) Pic 1
3. Align Holes to required length and tighten hand wheels.
4. Undo 4 screws (10), 2 on either side of the extension panel, and pull out, Pic 2 lining holes up as you do so. Only one screw is now needed each side, put the screws back in the hole and tighten. Pic

Save the other screw in case you need to shorten the bed.
5. Repeat process 4 above to extend the other end of the bed.

Troubleshooting and Repairing your Quoddy Bed
The Quoddy Bed should be repaired by competent personnel. There are however, items which should be checked first.
If the bed does not operate at all:
Check the bed is plugged in and switched on. When you have checked the switch at the wall, follow the cable towards the bed, checking for damage.
Ensure the handset is plugged in properly.
If only some functions work… Check all of the leads are properly plugged into the control box under the backrest.
Once all of the above have been checked and the bed is still not working please contact the person who supplied the bed (Authority, OT).
Application
The Quoddy Bed is an electric bed designed for people who need an adjustable bed. It has been designed to accept suitable mattresses made from foam, or air powered mattresses.
Cleaning
Ensure the bed is not plugged in whilst cleaning, and that it is not plugged in again until it is fully Dry. No Fluid to be used on control box.
To clean the bed, use a damp cloth with soapy water. If there is any doubt about infection, follow general cleaning with alcoholic cleaning solution.
Servicing
This equipment should be serviced once a year to keep the bed in good working order.

Other important information
Do not use this equipment near explosive gases (e.g. anaesthetics). Please note Oxygen is NOT an explosive gas.
Interference
Interference should not occur between this and other equipment, such as televisions, radios and other electronic equipment. If you have any interference involving your Quoddy Bed, try relocating or adjusting the position of the Quoddy Bed and or the other equipment. Also try connecting them on different mains circuits.
Recycling
This equipment contains electronic components. Check with your local authority if there are any special requirement on disposal and follow the Local WEEE regulations. The life expectancy of this equipment is 5 years.
