Installation Instructions
CAUTION
This symbol is used to indicate
presence of hazards that can cause
minor property damage.
Install alternator as shown in Figure 1:
Slip bushing located in rear mounting
CAUTION
foot must be securely tightened
against alternator mounting bracket on engine.
Failure to do so can result in broken mounting feet or
broken upper mounting bracket.
1. Units are shipped with shaft collar, hardened
washer and locknut. Remove and discard
shaft collar. Install pulley and furnished
hardened washer. Torque locknut to 163
Nm/ 120 lb. ft.
R terminal
6mm locknut –
torque to 4.8 Nm/42 lb. in.
Cable support brackets
(cables must fit securely inside
bracket insert)
28 V B+ terminal
12mm locknut –
torque to 32 Nm/24 lb. ft.
2. Use hardened washers between aluminum
surfaces and bolt heads and nuts. Torque
mounting bolts to 88 Nm/65 lb. ft.
3. All cabling, wiring or conduit must be supported within 305 mm/12 in. of termination
on alternator.
4. Choose wire gauge capable of handling
maximum alternator output with minimum
voltage drop:
• 0.4 V for 28 V B+ and B– cables
• 0.2 V for 14 V B+ cable
5. Follow vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations for belt tension.
6. E terminal requires connection for 28 V
key ignition switch source.
