C326 Alternator
Installation Instructions
This symbol is used to indicate
CAUTION
presence of hazards that can cause
minor property damage.
Install C326 alternator as shown in Figure 1:
Slip bushing located in rear mounting
CAUTION
foot must be securely tightened against
alternator mounting bracket on engine.
Failure to do so can result in broken
mounting feet or broken upper mounting
bracket.
B+ terminal stacking order:
M10x1.5 bolt – torque to 15 Nm/11 lb. ft.
Belleville washer
Flat washer
Vehicle output cable terminal
Use M12 mounting bolt, hardened
washer on each side, and nut
through bracket (3 places).
Torque to 88 Nm/65 lb. ft.
1. Units are shipped with shaft collar, hardened
washer and locknut. Remove and discard shaft
collar. Install pulley and furnished hardened
washer. Torque locknut to 136 Nm/ 100 lb. ft.
2. Use hardened washers between aluminum
surfaces and bolt heads and nuts. Torque
mounting bolts to 88 Nm/65 lb. ft. Nuts, bolts,
etc. must be SAE Grade 5 minmum.
3. All cabling, wiring or conduit must be supported within 305 mm/12 in. of termination on
alternator.
4. Choose wire gauge for B+ and B– cables
capable of handling maximum alternator
output with minimum voltage drop.
Regulator mounting screws
(2 places) – torque to
8.5 Nm/75 lb. in.
Flat washer
Belleville washer
M16x1.5 Locknut
torque to 136 Nm/100 lb.ft.
Use full length M12 mounting bolt
and hardened washer through bracket.
Torque to 88 Nm/65 lb. ft.
