A9-098 Field Coil Connector Assembly
for C706 Alternators
Replacement Instructions
This kit contains a larger sized connector assembly than what it may be replacing.
Be sure to replace both sides of connector if this is the case.

1. Cut field coil leads at connector terminal on both ends of connector and strip 1/4 inch of insulation. See Figure 1.

2. Connect new field coil connector assembly (see Figure 2) via splices to existing field coil wires, then crimp them securely (see Figure 3):
• red to red
• brown to brown
• white to white
• black to black

3. Use heat gun to seal the four splices.
4. Make sure male connector is securely connected to the female connector inside the control unit. See Figure 4.

5. The kit contains a replacement connector clip. IF the housing has a clip holding the gray connec­tor to the housing, and IF it needs to be replaced for any reason, see Figure 5. Torque screw to

If the housing does not

CAUTION
have the clip installed, DO NOT attempt to install the new clip. DO NOT drill any hole in the housing. Instead, securely affix tie wraps to help protect the con­ nector assembly from vibration.
6. Clean off any old sealant covering the field coil leads and recoat with Dow Corning® SE 9186L RTV coating or equivalent on the leads and on the splices to hold them to the housing.
