Service Contact Preparation ..........................................15
The new TL5 is a CD transport that uses CEC's
□
proprietary belt-drive mechanism to minimize the
vibration and electromagnetic noise from the spindle
motor.
A high precision CD stabilizer, which is a must for
the belt-drive system, is an easy-to-handle 7 cm in
diameter. The combination between the belt-drive
mechanism and heavy stabilizer with a big inertia
contributes to the high precision music reproduction.
CEC’s long history of belt-drive system achieved a
□
new standard, where a user may replace the belt
without consulting a specialist.
You are now free from consulting a belt replacement
either at your service center or a dealer, and enjoy
music without worrying about the lifetime of a belt.
New TL5 features multiple digital outputs; AES/EBU,
□
COAXIAL and TOSLINK.
The shortest possible signal pass and stability
of signal quality have been maintained by direct
mounting of all terminals to the single circuit board.
The brightness of the fluorescent display can be
□
switched by three steps at your convenience.

Summary of Tips and Hints
to use Belt Drive CD
Handle the CD stablizer withe care
❶
The CD stabilizer is quite heavy. Please handle it
carefully not to drop to damage other equipment and/
or furniture. And the distortion of the CD stabilizer may
damage the CD reading per formance. Please note
that it is a quite expensive highly precise component.
When mounting the CD stabilizer
❷
Make sure to mount the CD stabilizer on CD-
turntable vertically. An inclination of installation of
the stabilizer to the spindle shaft may cause unstable
reading of the music signal.
Don't touch the CD stabilizer before stop
❸
Don't touch the CD stabilizer as well as disc when it
is rotating after music. Pressing the CD stabilizer down
strongly may damage the CD mechanism.
Don't touch the pick-up lens
❹
Laser pickup is one of the most important compo-
nents for the per formance of CD player. Don't touch
the lens by finger. Make sure to close the CD door
when CD player is not used for clean maintenance of
the laser pick-up lens.
Maintenance
If the surface of the TL5 case becomes soiled, wipe
❶
with a soft cloth or use diluted neutral cleaning
liquid. Be sure to remove any fluid completely. Do
not use thinner, benzene, alcohol, chemical cloths or
bleaching agents as these may damage the surface
of the TL5 case. Also avoid using aerosol insecticides
near this appliance.
If dust accumulates on the CD-Turntable, remove it
❷
with stick tape (e.g. Scotch tape). Make sure not to
touch the optical pickup lens with your fi ngers.
TL5 requires no periodic maintenance except the belt
❸
replacement mentioned on page 14, and contains no
other user-serviceable parts. Contact your dealer or
an authorized CEC ser vice center for an inspection
and repair in case of malfunction.

result unstable reading of information on CD, noise
during music reproduction and/or jump of the music.
The repl a c ement of the bel t m ay s ol ve t h e p ro b l e m i f
it comes from weaker tension of the belt.
If replacement of a belt does not solve the problem,
consult with the dealer that you have purchased.
An average of the life of a belt is 5 years. It is not
required to replace if musc reproduction goes well even
after 5 years.
Replacement of a rubber belt
No other rubber band than CEC original rubber belt
can be used for replacement. Require the CEC belt at the
dealer that you have purchased.
