Intended use
The scale you have acquired serves to determine the weighing value of the material to be weighed. It is
intended to be used as a non-automatic scale, i.e. the material to be weighed is manually and carefully
placed in the center of the platform. The weighing value can be read off after a stable weighing value
has been obtained.
Inappropriate use
Do not use the scale for dynamic weighing. In the event that small quantities are removed or added to
the material to be weighed, incorrect weighing results can be displayed due to the stability
compensation in the scale. (Example: slowly draining fluids from a container on the scale.)
Do not leave a permanent load on the platform. This can damage the measuring equipment.
Be sure to avoid impact shock and overloading the scale in excess of the prescribed maximum load
rating (max.), minus any possible tare weight that is already present. This could cause damage to the
scale.
Never operate the scale in hazardous locations. The series design is not explosion-proof.
Structural alterations may not be made to the scale. This can lead to incorrect weighing results, faults
concerning safety regulations as well as to destruction of the scale.
The scale may only be used in compliance with the described guidelines. Varying areas of
application/planned use must be approved by CDN in writing.

Before use
Please read all instructions to familiarize yourself with the specification and operations before using and
programming the scales.
Installation
The scales are designed in a way that reliable weighing results are achieved with consistent usage
conditions. Selecting the right location for the scale is important.
Therefore, observe the following for the installation:
• Place the scale on a firm, level surface;
• Avoid extreme heat and temperature fluctuation such as installation in the direct sunlight;
• Protect the scale against direct draughts due to open windows and doors;
• Avoid vibration during weighing;
• Protect the scale against high humidity, moisture and dust;
• Do not expose the device to extreme humidity for longer periods of time. Non-permitted condensation
(condensation of air humidity on the appliance) may occur if a cold appliance is taken to a
considerably warmer environment. In this case, acclimatize the disconnected appliance for approx.
2 hours at room temperature after it has been disconnected from the mains.
• Avoid static charging of the material to be weighed.
• Major display deviations (incorrect weighing results) are possible if electromagnetic fields occur as
well as due to static charging and instable power supply. It is then necessary to change the location.
• In order to obtain exact results with the electronic scales, your scale must have reached the operating
temperature. During this warming up time the scale must be connected to the power supply
(mains, battery, rechargeable battery).
Battery Installation
Using a flat screwdriver, remove the battery cover on the bottom of the scale. Connect the 9V alkaline
battery, observing polarity, and then replace the battery door. Tighten screw to secure.
Using Adapter
• Before using the external mains adapter, make sure that the printed voltage must comply with
the local voltage.
• Only use original CDN mains adapter. The use of other adapter is subject to approval by CDN.
Connecting Peripheral Devices
Before connecting or disconnecting of additional devices (printer, PC) to the data interface, always
disconnect the scale from the power supply.

Calibration
As the gravity value is not the same at every location on earth. To achieve best accuracy, the scale is
highly recommended to be calibrated in compliance with the gravity at the place of use. This calibration
process must be carried out for the first time of use, after each change of location as well as in case of
environment temperature change. To receive accurate measuring values, it is also recommended to
calibrate the scale periodically in weighing operation.
The calibration should be made with the recommended calibration weight (see specification).
Procedure for calibration:
Observe stable environmental conditions. A warming up time of 30 minutes is required for stabilization.
► Turn on the scale by pressing the ON/OFF key.
► Press SET/TARE key and keep it pressed, until [CAL] appears in the display for few seconds.
After that the adjustment weight (see specification) appears and flashes in the display.
► Place the adjustment weight on the center of the platform.
► Now press the SET/TARE key. Short time later [CAL F] appears, then returns automatically to
the normal weighing mode. Readings of the adjustment weight appear in the display.
An error during adjustment or the use of an incorrect adjustment weight will result in an error
message [CAL E]. Repeat adjustment.
Keep the adjustment weight close to the scale. Daily control of the weighing exactness is recommended
for quality-relevant applications.
Auto-Off
For battery operation the scale has an automatic switch-off function which can be activated or
deactivated in the menu. Procedures as follows:
Turn on scale using the ON/OFF key and wait for the zero display.
Press and hold the FUNCTION key until [UNIT] appears on the display.
Press the UNIT/COUNT key or HOLD/PRINT key repeatedly until [ AF ] appears.
Confirm by pressing the SET/TARE key.
Use the UNIT/COUNT key or HOLD/PRINT key to choose between the following settings:
1. [AF on]: To sa ve b at te ry power, the scale switches off automatically if 3 minutes without
weighing.
2. [AF off]: Switch-off function deactivated.
Use the SET/TARE key to confirm selected setting. The scale returns to weighing mode.

Battery Status
If the batteries are exhausted, "LO" appears in the display. Press ON/OFF key and replace the batteries
immediately.
If the scale is not used for a longer time, take out the battery and store it separately. Leaking battery
liquid could damage the scale.

Zero scale
1. Weighing Mode
Turn on the scale using the ON/OFF key.
The scale will perform self-test for few seconds. When the zero display appears, the scale is ready for
operations.
Important: If the display not showing zero, press the ZERO key.
Place objects onto the center of platform. Take care that the weighed material should not touch the
scale housing.
Now the weight is displayed. Once the reading is stable, the weighing unit (e.g. g or kg) will appear on
the right-hand side of the display. If the objects are heavier than the weighing capacity, the display will
show "Error" (=Overload).
2.Tare
Turn on the scale using the ON/OFF key and wait for the zero display.
Put the tare vessel on the platform and press the SET/TARE key. The scale display goes to zero. The
weight of the vessel is now saved.

The taring process can be repeated any number of times, e.g. when adding several components for a
mixture (adding).
The limit is reached when the total weight reaching full capacity of the scale. After removing the tare
vessel, the total weight is displayed as negative reading.
After finishing the weighing process, press the SET/TARE key again, the scale display goes back to
zero.
3. Pre-Tare Function
Using this function the weight of a tare vessel can be stored.
This value also remains saved if the scale meanwhile has been switched off and switched on again.
Turn on scale using the ON/OFF key and wait for the zero display.
Put tare vessel on the platform. Press the UNIT/COUNT key until scale displays "5 PCS". Press the
UNIT/COUNT key 6 times until "PtArE" flashes on the display. By actuating the SET/TARE key, the
current weight on the platform is saved as Pre-Tar e we ig ht .
To switch off this function, unload the platform. Press ZERO key if display is not showing zero. Press
the UNIT/COUNT key until scale displays "5 PCS". Press the UNIT/COUNT key 6 times until "PtArE"
flashes on the display. Press the SET/TARE key, the stored Pre-Tar e we ig ht i s de le te d.
4. Target Weighing
This function can be used for unit weight control, fabrication control etc...
Turn on scale using the ON/OFF key and wait for the zero display.
Put the target weight on the platform and tare to zero by pressing the ZERO key. Remove the target
weight.
Put the test objects subsequently on the platform, the respective deviation from the target weight is
displayed with the sign "+" or "-".
According to the same procedure, packages with the same weight can be produced with referencing to
a target weight.
Back to weighing mode by pressing the ZERO key.
5. Counting Mode
Turn on scale using the ON/OFF key and wait for the zero display.
Press the UNIT/COUNT key until scale displays "5 PCS". By pressing the UNIT/COUNT key several
times, more reference quantities 10, 20, 25 and 50 can be called up.
Place the same number of pieces to be counted on the platform as the reference quantity.
Confirm with SET/TARE key.
The scale is now in counting mode, counting all units on the platform.
Important: The larger the reference quantity, the more accurate the count.
By pressing the UNIT/COUNT key the scale returns to the weighing mode and displays the weight of
the counted units.
Note: If the weight is less than the 10 g, the display appears "Er 1". Use UNIT/COUNT key to return to
weighing mode.

6. Net-Total Weighing
It is useful for control purposes if a mixture of several components is weighed in a tared vessel and the
final sum weight of all weighed components is displayed (net-total is the total weight excluding the tare
vessel).
Example:
Turn on scale using the ON/OFF key and wait for the zero display.
Put tare vessel onto platform, tare with ZERO key to zero.
Weigh component. Press the SET/TARE key. Display shows zero with the memory icon, triangle, on the
left side of the display.
Weigh component. Press the SET/TARE key. Net-total, sum weight of the components will be displayed.

weight of components will be displayed.
If necessary, repeat above procedures to complete the formula up to the desired final value.
Back to weighing mode by pressing the SET/TARE key.
7. Percentage Weighing Mode
Display symbol: %
Percentage weighing allows to display weight in percent, in relation to a reference weight.
Turn on scale using the ON/OFF key and wait for the zero display.
Press the UNIT/COUNT key until scale displays "5 PCS". Pressing the UNIT/COUNT key several times,
until "100%" is displayed.
Place the reference item on the weighing pan.
Press SET/TARE key, the weight of the item is recorded as the reference weight (100%).
Now you can place the test objects onto the platform; the percentage is displayed

8. Weighing Units (Unit)
Turn on scale using the ON/OFF key and wait for the zero display.
Press and hold the FUNCTION key until "UNIT" appears on the display.
Press SET/TARE key, the selected unit is displayed.
Use the UNIT/COUNT key or HOLD/PRINT key to select between different units (see following table).
Press the SET key to select the default weighing unit. It will be displayed whenever the scale is turned
on.

* In order to enter an own conversion factor, press the UNIT/COUNT key or HOLD/PRINT key as
explained above until "FFA" is displayed. Press the SET/TARE key to confirm the selection. The last
digit begins to flash. Press the UNIT/COUNT key to increase the value; press the HOLD/PRINT key to
decease the value. Press the ZERO key to set the next digit. When all digits are set, press the
SET/TARE key to save this value. The "Free Factor" is now the current weighing unit.
9. Backlit Display
The backlit display can be set according to the applications:
Turn on scale using the ON/OFF key and wait for the zero display.
Press and hold the FUNCTION key until "UNIT" appears on the display.
Press the UNIT/COUNT or HOLD/PRINT key several times until "bL" is displayed. Press SET/TARE
to enter back light setting.
Press the UNIT/COUNT or HOLD/PRINT key to select setting based on below table.

11. Data Hold
The scale has the display reading hold function so that important reading can be captured for a period.
Press the HOLD/PRINT key once during weighing, display reading can be frozen. Press the
HOLD/PRINT key again to change back to normal weighing mode.
12. Auto Zero Tracking Function
The auto zero tracking function is used to tare out small variations in weight automatically. In some
applications, small quantities are removed or added to the material to be weighed, this feature can
affect the weighing results due to the “stability compensation” function in the scale.
(Example: Slowly draining fluids from a container on the scale). When application involves small
variations of weight, it is advisable to switch off this function. However, the weight reading will look less
stable.
In weighing mode, press and hold the FUNCTION key until "UNIT" appears on the display.
Press the UNIT/COUNT or HOLD/PRINT key several times until "tr" is displayed.
Press SET/TARE key to display current setting.
Press the UNIT/COUNT or HOLD/PRINT key to select setting based on below table.

13. Reset to Factory Settings
This function resets all scale settings to factory setting.

Usage Guidelines
• Scales are precision instruments and must be handled with extreme care.
• Battery technology works best at room temperature.
• Place the scale gently on hard and flat surface and make sure it is steady before use.
• The maximum capacity of the scale is 22 lb/10 kg, which is the capacity before using the tare function.
• Do not place overweight items on the scale.
• Store the scale in a position that keeps it free from any load bearing weight. Storing the scale with
pressure on the load cells can distort the weight measurements over time.
Care of Your Product
• Do not submerge any part of the scale in water.
• Wipe clean with a damp cloth.
• Store the scale at room temperature between 41 to 95°F/5 to 35°C.
Precautions
• Keep the scale and/or battery away from children.
• Do not clean the scale with abrasive or corrosive compounds, which may scratch the surface and
corrode the electronic circuits.
• Do not subject the scale to excessive force, shock, dust, temperature or humidity, which may result in
malfunction, shorter electronic life span, damaged battery and/or distorted parts.
• Do not tamper with the scale’s internal components. Doing so will invalidated the warranty and may
cause unnecessary battery damage and/or distorted parts.
• Do not subject the scale to excessive exposure to direct sunlight.
• The unit is not waterproof — do not immerse it in any liquid, which will result in faulty measurements.
• To avoid deformation, do not place the unit in extreme temperatures.
• Always read the user manual thoroughly before operating.
