MODEL DTTC DIGITAL THERMOMETER & TIMER
Temperature Range: +14 F to 392º F (-10 C to 200º C)
Timer Range: 24 hours by seconds
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Full function digital timer & clock. Clock can be set to display either 12 hour AM/PM or
Timer counts a maximum of 24 hours up or down. Remembers last time counted-no need
to Re-enter for repeat timings.
Digital thermometer can be set to alarm on a temperature rise, for roasting and baking, or
on a temperature decrease for chilling and freezing. Thermometer can also be used without the alarm-as an accurate digital timer.
Min/Max Oven test feature allows one to measure the temperature extremes inside the
oven as the oven thermostat controls the temperature. This permit s one to see how closely the oven temperature is being maintained.
OPERATION (refer to drawing, overleaf, for location and function of controls):
Initial:
1. Install battery. Open battery door in back of case and install 1.5 V AAA battery. Observe correct polarity.
2. Select F or C temperature display with switch on back of case.
To Set Clock:
Press TIMER/CLOCK key until the time of day is displayed and CLOCK appears in the upper right portion of the display. Select either 12 hour or 24-hour display by pressing, and holding, the TIMER/CLOCK key until 12 Hr (or 24 Hr) appears and flashes. Press the HR key to change between 12-hour and 24-hour display. Press START/STOP to lock the setting. While the time is flashing enter the correct time by pressing the HR and/or MIN key. When finished, press START/STOP to confirm and exit.
To Count Down:
Press the TIMER/CLOCK key until timer display is shown and TIMER appears in the upper right portion of the display. Enter the desired time by pressing the HR and/or MIN keys. Press START/STOP to commence the count down. The count may be interrupted by pressing START/STOP. Press START/STOP again to resume counting. After counting down to zero the alarm will sound for 30 seconds-every 30 seconds. This sequence will be repeated until START/STOP is pressed to cancel the alarm. To clear the count before reaching zero, stop the count and press HR and MIN simultaneously.
To Count Up:
Set the timer display to 0:00:00 by pressing the HR and MIN key simultaneously. Press START/STOP and the count up will begin. The count may be interrupted by pressing START/STOP. Resume the count up by pressing START/STOP again.
To Set Temperature Alert:
The DTTC can be set to alarm on a temperature rise of a temperature decrease. Normally, the alarm will be set for a temperature rise. Insert the end of the temperature probe at least 1” into the meat, making sure that it is not inserted into a fatty deposit. Gently close the oven door on the braided steal cable and insert the connector end of the temperature probe into the jack on the side of the DTTC. Press the ALERT key until the upper limit icon ^ flashes. Set the desired end temperature by pressing the Up or DOWN key. When the probe temperature reaches the set temperature the alarm will sound: 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off-until START/STOP is pressed. HINT: Set the timer to alarm 30 to 40 minutes before the meat is expected to be done. To set the DTTC to alarm on a temperature decrease, press ALERT until the lower limit icon Flashes. Press the DOWN or UP key until the desired temperature is displayed. When the probe temperature reaches the set temperature the alarm will sound.
Using the DTTC as a Digital Candy Thermometer:
Insert the attachment clip on the probe stem. Position it until the tip of the probe is just above the bottom of the kettle when the clip is attached to the rim. Set the DTTC to alarm on a temperature rise as described above, IMPORTANT: Make sure that the braided probe cable is not over direct heat from the cook top burner. Reposition the kettle if necessary. The wires inside the cable may be damaged by sustained exposure to direct heat from the cook top burner.
MIN/MAX Oven Test:
In use, an oven thermostat will cycle the oven on and off to maintain the temperature to which the control knob is set. Some ovens will experience a wide temperature excursion while others may have a “tight” control. For roasting this is not critical. For baking it is important to know how hot the oven gets while trying to maintain a temperature of, for example, 350º F. To test the control of the oven, position the probe in the center of the oven. Press the MIN/MAX key until MAX appears on the display. Press START/STOP. This will clear the memory. Let the oven cycle on and off at least two times. Press MIN/MAX once to read the highest temperature the oven reached. Press MIN/MAX again to read the lowest temperature reached.
