Using Your Waste Disposer
To dispose of domestic food waste
• Ensure that your hands are dry, then turn on the electrical supply to
the waste disposer.
• Turn on the cold tap to run water through the disposer.
• Start the disposer, by a rm press of the air switch button.
• Insert food waste into the disposer, if this needs pushing in use the
pusher supplied. Do not use a finger or any other implement.
• After the grinding is complete, stop the disposer by a rm press of
the air switch button.
• Allow the water to continue running for a few seconds to rinse the
waste disposer through.
• Turn o the cold water tap.
• After ensuring that your hands are dry, turn o the electrical supply
to the waste disposer.
Note: The waste disposer is designed to grind a mix of foods at the
same time; inserting just one food type may cause blockage of the
waste disposer. This is particularly important when grinding fibrous foods such as banana skins, corn husks, pineapple or artichoke leaves, or asparagus.

Care and Maintenance
Routine cleaning
In normal use, as described above, the waste disposer is unlikely to require cleaning or maintenance.
If an unpleasant smell develops, due to buildup of greasy particles, or if you intend not to use the waste disposer for a lengthy time, we suggest the following procedure:
• Put a sliced lemon and a few ice cubes into the waste disposer.
• Switch it on without water owing through, for 5-10 seconds.
• Run cold water through while the waste disposer is still running and
until grinding ceases.
• Turn o the cold water tap.
Overload Shut-down
The waste disposer is fitted with a shut-down system to prevent internal damage in the event of a solid object or excessive food entering it. If this happens the waste disposer will automatically shut down. To restart the waste dicposer:
• Switch o the waste disposer and
disconnect the electrical supply.
• Remove the solid object or excessive
food waste.
• Insert the hexagonal key (supplied
with the unit) into the centre hole on the base of the waste disposer, rotate it backwards and forwards (Fig. 1).

• Wait 5 - 10 minutes.
• Press the red “Reset” button on the base of the waste disposer.

Installing the waste disposer
We recommend that before you start
installation you check the existing drain pipe is in good condition and that any obstructions are removed.
Part reference numbers below refer to the diagram on page 9
• If tting to an existing sink installation
it is necessary to remove the sink drain and waste trap previously installed.
• Clean the sink ange area of any
putty or other debris.
• Open the clamp (6) and remove the
sink ange (2). (Fig. 1).
• Unscrew the mounting ring (5) and
remove the fibre washer (4).
• Pass the sink ange (2) through the
rubber washer (3) and the sink hole.
• Tighten the mounting ring (5) with
bre washer (4) onto the sink ange,
then tighten the screws so the sink
ange is seated rmly.
• Check that the splash guard (7) is
fitted to the disposer body (8).
• Wet the splash guard (7) with water.
10

Fig. 3
• Insert the disposer body (8) into the
ange (2) by pushing upward.
• Use the clamp (6) to lock this in place
(Fig. 3).
• Thread the outlet ange (10) onto the
drain tube (12).
• Fit the rubber seal (9) onto the lip of
the drain tube (12) and tighten this assembly onto the disposer body (8) (Fig. 4).
Waste trap installation recommendations
• To improve the ow of water, all pipes
should be cut to length and internally deburred.
• The waste disposer is supplied with
inlet “A” blanked o (Fig. 5). This

Fig. 5
inlet may be used to connect a sink
overow using a exible hose. If
using this it is necessary to remove the plastic plug as shown in Fig. 6 before fitting the disposer.

Air switch installation
Identify and check all necessary parts, as Fig. 7.
A Air switch B PVC air tube (1m supplied) C Push button bellows D Mounting bracket
Fig. 7
• The air switch needs to be tted into a 35mm diameter hole within
easy reach of the user. We suggest you either use a redundant
tap mounting hole (if you have one) in your sink or drill one in the worktop.
• Unscrew the back-nut from the push button bellows (C) and pass
the threaded part of the belows through the 35mm hole as above. Fit and tighten the back-nut to lock the bellows in place.
• Attach one end of the PVC air tube (B) to the bellows (C), trim it to
length and mount the other end over the spout of the air switch,
12
located in the base of the waste disposer body.
• The mounting bracket (D) is supplied as an alternative mounting for
if you choose to mount the air switch button under the sink out of sight.
