CARVIN TBH60 TWINBLADE PICKUP WIRING INSTRUCTIONS
Standard Humbucking Operation with Coil Splitter
* If using two TBH humbucking pickups and one is out of phase with the other, reverse the black and green wires on one pickup.
MOUNTING PICKUPS ON THE GUITAR
Carvin TwinBlade Humbuckers are replacement pickups for standard single coils. Mount them into a single coil pickguard opening.
PICKUP WIRING
The shield wire always goes to ground. For standard humbucking operation, solder the Red and White wire together and cover it with tape to insulate. Solder the Green wire and shield to ground. The Black wire is the hot output. (
See fig.1
)
WIRING THE CONTROLS
You should install a ground wire that runs from the tailpiece or bridge to the control area. Solder this ground wire to the back of one of the potentiometers. Be careful not to use excessive heat when soldering to the potentiometers or switches as you may damage them.
(
See fig.2
)
PICKGUARD WIRING WITH BRIDGE SWITCH
FIG 3 shows wiring with a mini-switch used to turn the bridge pickup on when the 5-way position switch is on either the middle or neck position. This is the standard wiring configuration for the Carvin Custom Shop when TBH60’s are installed in a pickguard.

PICKGUARD WIRING WITH COIL SPLITTER
FIG 5 shows wiring with a mini-switch used to tap (shut off) one coil on the bridge pickup. To tap all three pickups, a total of 3 mini-switches must be used–one for each pickup.
PICKGUARD WIRING WITH NO MINI SWITCH
FIG 4 provides a common wiring diagram for use with a single volume and tone pot.
