SMARTPRO – USER’S MANUAL
Thank you for choosing CARTONI. The
CARTONI SMARTPRO fluid head is the ideal
support for the latest D V ca meras weighing from 0
to 6 Kg (13 lbs). The following s et-up instructions
are for the achievement of precise pan, tilt and
diagonal movement. T o get optimum results from
your SMARTPRO system, the equipment set up is
very important.
Before using the p atented fluid drag system, you
will need to accurately counterbalance your
camera in order to allow the tilt drag unit to
operate in total freedom without gravity
interference.
Please remember that pan and tilt lock levers
must be set in lock position bef ore any attempt is
made to fit or rem ove equipment mounted on the
head. It is advisab le to lock pan and tilt sections
when the camera is left unattended.
1 – Before opening the tripod, release all three
levers (1) and lift up the system at the desired
height
4 – Lock both pan and tilt (5) and (6), turn both
tilt drag selector (7) and counterbalanc e knob (8)
to the minimum level
5 – Open completely the slide loc k lever (11) to
release the camera plate (10)
6 – Attach the camera pla te (10) to the bottom of
the camera assem bly and firmly secure it with the
camera screw; try to place the camera plate
centered on the camera, keeping the center of
gravity position in mind
7 – Place the camera sideways on top of the
SMARTPRO head, the wedge plate will lock into
place: in this pos itio n t he camera can slide f or th to
back
8 – Hold the camera in horizontal position with

adjusting the sliding plate

drag control by adjusting selectors (7) and (4)
