This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced ·
physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless
they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a

Always use the appliance for the appropriate purpose! ·
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. ·

The appliance is not suitable for straightening animal hair! ·

Do not pull on the connecting cable and do not carry the unit by means of ·

Always disconnect the appliance from the mains and allow the appliance to cool ·
down before cleaning and maintenance, or if faults occur during operation!
Only specialists are allowed to do reparations. Improperly reparations can cause ·
considerable danger!

Safety instructions when operating the appliance
DANGER! Danger to life from electric shock!
There is danger to life in case of contact with live cables or components! Hence,
please observe the following safety instructions:
If the connecting cable is damaged, it should only be replaced by a service ·
agent recommended by the manufacturer in order to prevent any danger! Please
contact the manufacturer or his customer service.
The voltage of the power source must be the same as specied on the rating ·
plate (V)!
Before use check that the appliance functions properly! The appliance should not be ·
used if:
- the connecting cable is damaged
- the appliance shows noticeable damage
- the appliance has been dropped

To avoid damage or danger by improper use, the instructions for use should be ·
carefully kept and followed!
If you give the appliance to another person then you should also supply them with ·
the instructions for use!
Connect the appliance only to AC current and to a socket with earthing contact. Do ·
not pull the cable over sharp edges, clamp it into place or allow it to hang down!
Keep the cable away from hot and damp areas!
Never wind the mains cable around the appliance!·
The connecting cable must not come into contact with hot appliance parts and should ·
never run between the straightening plates!

Safety instructions when operating the appliance
DANGER! Danger to life from electric shock!
There is danger to life if the live appliance comes in contact with water! Hence, please
observe the following safety instructions:
Never use the appliance with wet hands, in or near the bath, shower or over a lled ·
washbasin. If the appliance falls into water, remove the mains plug immediately.
Under no circumstances reach into the water when the appliance is still connected to
the power supply!
When the appliance is used in a bathroom, unplug it after use since the proximity of ·
water presents a hazard even when the appliance is switched off!
Warning! Danger of burns from hot appliance components!
Components of the appliance can become very hot during operation and lead to
possible burns. Hence, please observe the following safety instructions:
Never grasp the appliance on or near the straightening plates when the appliance is ·
on since this can cause burns (approx. 15 min to cool). Avoid any contact between
hot appliance parts and your skin and eyes. Never transport the appliance when it
is hot!
Never use ammable substances, e.g. hairspray, styling mousse etc., on your hair ·
before using this appliance as this may cause burning when the substance comes
into contact with the straightening plates!
The appliance may only be used on dry, natural hair. Do not use on articial hair!·
Caution!
Please observe the following safety instructions to avoid damages and risks
attributable to improper use:
The appliance must not come into contact with ammable materials. It must also ·
not be used near ammable materials because the straightening plates reach
temperatures of approx. 230°C!
Never cover the straightening plates with any object! ·
The appliance must never be switched on when clamped together. Ensure that the ·
appliance is open!
After use, or if pausing for a signicant length of time, disconnect the appliance from ·
the mains and let the appliance cool down!
Do not place the appliance or the connecting cable on hot surfaces e.g. cooker or ·
similar or in the vicinity of open ames!
Never put the appliance on soft cushions or blankets during operation! ·
Safety instructions for cleaning and maintenance

There is danger to life if the live appliance comes in contact with water! Hence, please
observe the following safety instructions:
Protect the appliance from moisture. Never put it into the dishwasher. ·
Do not use the connecting cable to pull on the plug nor remove the plug from the ·
socket with wet hands!

The appliance is only intended for straightening and styling human hair.
No liability is accepted for any damage resulting from use for other purposes, faulty
operation or amateur repairs. Guarantee services are also excluded in such cases.

Preparing the hair
Wash your hair and dry it well. ·Comb your hair thoroughly. Do not use hairspray or other ammable ·
chemical hair care products.
Place a hand towel around your neck to prevent the possibility of skin burns.·
Switching on the appliance
Use the locking switch ·(g) to open the appliance (see fig. 1). Insert the mains
plug and switch on the appliance using the ON/OFF switch (b)(see fig. 2). The
temperature level of 170°C indicated in display (d) ashes until the appliance has
reached its pre-set temperature of 170°C (see fig. 3). The pre-set temperature is
reached after approx. 1 minute.

Select the suitable temperature for your hair type. Notes on this are found in the ·
table below!
Setting lower temperature levels
Press the “·–“ key repeatedly on the rocker switch (c) until the required temperature level is set (fig. 4a). Minimum temperature 130°C.
Setting higher temperature levels
Press the “·+“ key repeatedly on the rocker switch (c) until the required temperature level is set (fig. 4b). Maximum temperature 230°C.
Note!
For every newly selected temperature level, the indicator in display ·(d) ashes until
the temperature is reached. Higher temperature levels are reached in just a few
seconds, a reduction of temperature level takes effect more slowly.
Selectable temperature levels
You can select the individual temperature levels in 10°C increments between the
minimum temperature of 130°C and the maximum temperature of 230°C.
WARNING!
Risk of burning your hair if selected temperature is too high!
Depending on your hair type the wrongly selected temperature or improper use of the
hair straightener puts your hair at risk of drying out or in the worst case burning. Listed
below are the recommended temperature levels that should always be observed:
Always select the lowest temperature level (130°C) when using your
hair straightener for the rst time.
Select a low temperature level from 140°C till 160°C
for blonde, bleached or colored hair.
Select a medium temperature level from 170°C till
190°C for normal and slightly wavy hair.
Select a high temperature level from 200°C till 230°C
for very thick, curly and hard to straighten hair.

Hold the appliance at the handle (h), always at a safe distance from skin and eyes.
Use a mirror.
Part your hair into approx. 4 cm strands.·
Hold the appliance in the hand as shown in ·fig. 5.
Begin at the roots and lay the prepared strands one at a time between the ·
straightening plates (e)(see fig. 5).
Close the appliance and draw the hair straightener slowly from the roots ·
through to the tips of your hair (see fig. 5). Repeat until your hair is as
straight as you desire. After nishing styling, let your hair cool down and
then comb it through.
Straightening short hair
Follow the instructions as for long hair, but instead of drawing the appliance through ·
your hair, clamp the strands in the appliance for approx. 10 seconds.

Switching off the appliance
Switch off the appliance using the ON/OFF switch ·(b).
CAUTION!
The appliance can be damaged by overheating!
Make sure that the appliance is open during the cooling phase.
Ion generator

Your appliance is tted with an ion generator. Activating this function will
give your hair enhanced shine while styling. The ion generator also
prevents the build-up of static charge on your hair. To activate the function,
press the ion ON/OFF switch (a)(see fig. 6). The ion indicator lights up green,
ions are discharged from the ion discharge openings (f).
Note!
The ion generator can only be activated, when the appliance is switched on
before, by using the ON/OFF switch (b). After turning the appliance off,
the ion generator is always deactivated when turning the appliance back
on. To reactivate the function, press the ion ON/OFF switch (a). To deactivate
the ion generator, press the ion ON/OFF switch (a) again. The ion indicator
light goes off.
Automatic deactivation function

The appliance is energy-efcient and it switches off automatically after 45 minutes.
The display starts to ash after 40 minutes, i.e., 5 minutes before the actual
deactivation
operation (see fig. 7a). Two options are available to you for selection during this
period:
1. You can allow the 5 minutes to pass without actuating any key – the appliance
is deactivated (see fig. 7b).
2. You can press the control switch +/– (c) once or the ion ON/OFF switch (a) within
these 5 minutes to interrupt the deactivation operation and continue to work
with the appliance directly (see fig. 8a). This action resets the deactivation
operation. The system starts counting another 45 minutes before triggering the next
deactivation (see fig. 8b).
Cleaning and maintenance ›
DANGER! Danger to life from electric shock!
There is danger to life in case of contact with live cables or components! Hence, please
observe the following safety instructions:
Before cleaning, disconnect the appliance from the mains. ·Never immerse the appliance in water.·
WARNING! Danger of burns from hot appliance components!
Parts of the appliance can be very hot and cause burns even after it has
been switched off. Hence, allow the appliance to cool down fully without
fail before cleaning it.
CAUTION!
Please observe the following safety instructions to avoid damages and risks
attributable to improper use:
Do not use sharp or abrasive cleaning agents.·
You can clean your appliance with a slightly damp cloth and dry it with a ·
soft dry cloth.
If the straightening plates get dirty, use a few drops of washing-up liquid to help ·
clean them. Make sure that you remove all washing-up liquid residues from the
straightening plates.
Environment and Disposal ›
Never dispose of your appliance with the regular household waste. Follow the waste
disposal regulations of your locality or return your appliance to retailer.
