Experiment with these suggested settings when dialing in your tone.
You can also tailor your sound with the type of pickups you use and
where they are placed on the Bass guitar.
Humbuckers (dual coil pickups) generally have higher output than
singlecoil pickups, and tend to overdrive more easily. Singlecoils
usually have a brighter, ‘clearer’ tone but less body to the sound. In
addition, a pickup sounds tighter and more crisp closer to the
bridge and has a warmer, more rounded sound closer to the neck.

INTRODUCTION
Thank you for buying The Kickstart Bass 30. Correctly used it will
provide years of reliable service and fulfill all you performance
needs. Please read this user guide thoroughly in order to safeguard
your equipment and to obtain maximum performance from it.
The Kickstart Range of combos have been designed and voiced to
be an ideal introduction to bass guitar amplification. They are
designed to help you start playing and keep playing for years to
come. The designs are deliberately simple for easy and intuitive
operation, but still will produce a wide range of tones for different
musical styles. They are ideally suited to home practice, producing
versatile tones without extremes of volume.

1. Input: Using a good quality shielded signal cable, connect the
output of your bass guitar to this socket. It is compatible with piezo
transducers, active and passive pick-up systems.
2. Deep: When pushed in this switch increases the lower end
response of your amplifier.
3. Gain: This control sets the gain at the input (the electrical signal
strength). This control needs to be set higher for piezo and passive
pick-ups, and lower for active pick-ups (where a battery is fitted
inside the bass guitar). When setting the gain the peak light should
not stay illuminated, however there is no problem if it flashes when
you hit the strings hard.
4. Bass: This is used to control the level of bass or low frequency
sound. When the control is in the centre there no effect on the
sound produced, turning the control to the left reduces the amount
of bass, and turning the control to the right will increase it.
5. Mid: This works the same as the Bass control but affects the
mid-range frequencies.
6. Mid Shift: This switch, when depressed, changes the control range
of the Mid control (5.) This switch when depressed moves the mid
control down so that it effects the lower mid range of frequencies.
The difference will only be noticed if the mid control is set to either
'cut' or boost'. When the control is set to the centre no difference
will be audible.
7. Treble: This works the same as the Bass control but affects the
treble or high frequencies.
8. Volume: This control sets the overall output level of the amplifier.
9. Peak Power Indicator: This red LED illuminates when the amplifier
is starting to distort, if this light starts to illuminate turn the gain
control to the left until the light stays off for a clean undistorted
sound.

10. Audio In: This 3.5mm mini jack socket is for the connection of
line level music from an mp3 player for example, so that you
can play along to backing tracks or your favorite songs.
11. Phone: This 3.5mm mini jack socket provides a mono signal for
stereo headphones. (NOTE the internal speaker is disconnected
when headphones are inserted for silent practice).
12. Power LED: This blue LED illuminates when the unit is supplied
with the correct mains voltage and switched on. When switched
off, the LED will slowly extinguish.

1. Mains Switch: This turns the AC mains power to the unit on or
off. Ensure that the AC power socket and plug are easily
accessible during use.
NOTE: The unit is not isolated from the mains until the power
cord is removed
2. IEC Input Socket: Connect the supplied IEC mains lead here.
Should the mains fuse need replacing, it is located below the
mains input. Always replace the fuse with the same type and
rating printed on the rear panel of your amp. If the replacement
fuse blows immediately, then contact your local service agent.
DO NOT fit a higher rated fuse. This appliance must be earthed.
Please ensure the supplied AC power lead is connected to a
mains supply socket fitted with a safety earth connection.
NOTE: ALWAYS DISCONNECT THE UNIT FROM THE MAINS
SUPPLY BEFORE CHANGING THE FUSE.
STORAGE
When you are not using your amplifier, disconnect it from the mains
supply and store it away from any source of moisture.
