INSTRUCTION GUIDE

Key Pad Entry Alarm – HS4317

• Small flat head screwdriver

• Small Phillips head screwdriver

FUNCTIONS

1. Announcing Visitors
Simply set the mode switch to “chime” for the electronic chimes to sound
when someone opens the door.

2. Alarm Mode
When you do not expect visitors, set the mode switch to “instant”. If someone
opens the door, a piercing alarm sounds for 90 seconds or until you enter the
security code.

Note: After 90 seconds, the alarm resets to sound when the door opens.
When you leave your house, open door, set the mode switch to “delay”, leave and
close the door. When you return, you must enter the security code within 8 sec­onds, or the alarm sounds.

3. Panic Alarm
Press “panic” to immediately sound the alarm without opening the door. The
alarm sounds for 90 seconds or until you enter the security code.

Note: After 90 seconds, the alarm resets to sound when the door opens.

4. Turning the Alarm Off

Simply set the mode switch to “off” to turn off the alarm and the electronic chimes.

Note:

• You can still use “panic” with the mode switch set to “off”.

• You cannot set the mode switch to “off” to silence the alarm. You must enter
the security code or wait 90 seconds for the alarm to stop sounding.

INSTALLATION

You must mount the alarm and magnet so the magnet rests with its arrow point­ing toward one of the alarm’s markings for proper alignment. Choose a location
that lets you install the magnet on a door or window and the alarm immediately
next to it on the frame or vice versa. The distance between the alarm and the
magnet must be no more than 5/16 inch. Use the supplied screws or the supplied
adhesive tape and follow these steps to mount the alarm and magnet.

1. Remove the two screws on the bottom of the alarm and remove the back
cover.

2. Use three of the five supplied long screws or two of the pieces of supplied
adhesive tape to mount the back cover. If using tape, make sure mounting
surfaces are free of dust, oil and other substances that could affect adhesion.

3. Connect 9-volt alkaline battery onto appropriate terminals.

4. Slide the alarm onto the back cover.

5. Replace the two screws on the bottom of the alarm.

6. Use the two remaining long screws or the other piece of the supplied adhe­sive tape to mount the magnet so its arrow points toward one of the mark­ings on either side of the alarm.

Note: Set the alarm’s mode switch to Chime and open the door. You should hear
the electronic chimes. If not, readjust the position of the magnet.

SETTING THE SECURITY CODE

You can set your own four-digit alarm security code.

• Your alarm’s security code is preset to 1234 at the factory. Be sure you use a
different security code.

• You must enter all four numbers within 15 seconds, or the red indicator turns
off and the alarm exits the procedure and resets to the previous security
code.

• If you remove the battery, the security code resets to 1234.

Follow these steps to set your own security code.

1. Press CODE. The red indicator lights.

2. Enter the current security code. The red indicator flashes.

Note: If this is the first time you are setting the code, enter 1234.

3. Enter the desired four-digit code. The red indicator lights steadily.

4. Press CODE within 5 seconds. The red indicator turns off.

Note: If you do not press CODE within 5 seconds, the red indicator turns off and
the alarm exits the procedure and resets to the previous security code.

BATTERY REPLACEMENT

If one of the following conditions occurs, replace the battery:

• the chimes’ or alarm’s sound becomes weak

• the red indicator does not light

• the alarm does not work at all when the door opens

• the alarm sounds a steady tone, and you cannot stop it by entering the secu­rity code

• the alarm stops sounding before you enter the code or before 90 seconds

• For longer battery life use a 9-volt alkaline battery.

If the alarm does not respond after you replace the battery, remove the battery
and re-install it. Each time you remove the battery, the security code resets to

1234.

The product you have purchased is guaranteed against defects in workmanship
and materials for the period stated on the package. Warranties implied by law
are subject to the same time period limitation. Some states do not allow limita­tions on how long an implied warranty lasts, so this time limitation may not apply
to you.

If the product fails due to a manufacturing defect during normal use, return the
product and dated sales receipt to the store where purchased for replacement OR
send the product and the dated sales receipt to:

by this warranty. Repair service, adjustment and calibration due to misuse,
abuse or negligence are not covered by this warranty. Unauthorized service or
modification of the product or of any furnished components will void this warran­ty in its entirety. This warranty does not include reimbursement for inconvenience,
installation, set-up time, loss of use, postage, unauthorized service, or other prod­ucts used in conjunction with, but are not supplied by, Lamson & Sessions.

All requests for replacement must include a dated sales receipt (copies accept­ed). LAMSON & SESSIONS IS NOT LIABLE FOR LOST PROFITS, INDIRECT, SPECIAL,
EXEMPLARY, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES INCLUDING WITHOUT
LIMITATION ANY SUCH DAMAGES DUE TO IMPROPER WIRING OR MISUSE OF THE
PRODUCT. As some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental
or consequential damages, the above limitation and exclusion may not apply
to you.
