Notes regarding DPWQ 306000 and DPDQ 306000
– In the operating mode wit h curr ent ou tput , the device delivers an outp ut cur rent o f either 4...2 0 mA .
This device is not a transmit ter.
– The air quali ty sign al “good “...“bad“ is repr esented by the outp ut sign al 4...20 mA or 0...10 V (selectable via DIP). – The chemic al sens or is a consumabl e.
The lif etime o f the se nsor depends on n atur e and co ncentrat ion of th e pollu tant gas burd en.
– This device ma y only be u sed in no n-pr ecipit ating air wit hout above- atmo spher ic or below-atmosp heric p ressu re at the senso r element. – The voltage o utpu t is shor t-ci rcuit proof. – Applying ove rvol tage w ill dest roy the device. – In case of pollut ion, we r ecomm end cleaning an d recalibrat ion in th e factory. – The device op erating rang e covers 10...95 % relative hu midit y respe ctiv ely 0...+50 °C.
Outside of tha t rang e, mismeasurem ents o r increased de viations will o ccur.
– If this device is o perated beyond th e specified ra nge, all warran ty claims are f orf eited.
Air quality is me asure d thro ugh a chemical s ensor. Due t o its fu nctional principle, t he lifetime o f the sen sor dep ends on natur e and concent rati on of the poll utan t gas bur den. The sensi tive la yer of t he sensor eleme nt rea cts wi th all vo latile o rgani c compounds and is ther eby mo difie d in its electrical prope rtie s or “exhauste d“. This pr ocess results in a displ aceme nt of th e character istic c urve. Such ch aracteris tic cur ve disp lacem ent how ever a mount s to less t han 15 % ⁄ year un der nor mal burden. In m easuring air qua lity, th e gener al condition o f air quali ty is de tect ed. Whe ther air quality is “goo d“ or “bad“ is differently interpreted by each person. Diff eren t pollution burdens a nd conc entr ations influence t he air quality si gnal (0...10 Volt) in different ways. Examples for t his are cigare tte smoke, deo doran t sprays, cleani ng agen ts, or also various adhes ive materials for floor and wall cov ering s as well as d yestuff s. Increased bu rdens e.g. by solvents, nicotine, hydrocarbons, a erosol prop ellant s etc. in tensi fy co nsump tion ⁄ aging of th e sensor elemen t. Par ticularly un der high p ollut ant gas b urdens – also during n on-o perational i dle sta te per iods of t he dev ices (t ransp ort an d stor age) – ze ro-point drift w ill occur. Consequ entl y, this must be correct ed at sit e accor ding to t he res pective cir cumst ance s or basic burde ns.
Air quality measuring instr uments of dif ferent manu facturer s cannot directly be compa red because o f diff erent func tional principles, preset basic burdens (zero-poi nt), and p ermitted burden s (ampli fica tion ⁄ sensitivit y). Dev ices ar e preset respectiv ely calibrat ed according to t he sensor manu fact urer‘s specif icatio ns. Here, a zero-point and a fin al value is deter mined and thus a maximu m burden. In par ticular cases, e xceeding measuring ranges or e xcessi ve basic burde ns on the d evices will oc cur (ou tgassing flo or carpeting, wall paint, etc.). In order to enable distinguishi ng differe nt air qualities, d evices need t o be adjust ed by th e customer ac cording to th e conditions existi ng on sit e that do not correla te to t he fac tory-preset definition range and calibrat ion. Please note t hat factor y calib ratio n is ther eby lost and co mplian ce wit h tech nical da ta can no longe r be guar anteed.
ATTENTION!
Ther e is no universally unif orm standa rd, whi ch coul d be applied to a subst ances t o whic h the sen sor responds, a nd gas mi xtur es are a djust ed. The refore this sensor does no t act selectively, but r athe r refl ects t he overall air qualit y. In princ iple, one a lso cannot st ate pr ecisely what is "bad air " or wha t is "good air" because this is a pure ly subje ctiv e sensa tion.
The gas inter -exchange in t he sens or element happens by di ffu sion. Dependin g on the changes t o the concen trat ion and t he flo w velocity of t he air surrounding th e sensor, the r eact ion of the devi ce to th e chang e of concentratio n may ta ke plac e with a delay. It is ess entia l to cho ose an ins talla tion lo cation for t he devi ce in which t he air st ream f lows a round the sensor. Other wise t he gas ex chang e may be considerably delayed o r prev ente d.
Automatic calibration of air quality (default)
The automatic bac kgrou nd logic is a self-c alibrating mechani sm that i s suita ble for u se in applicati ons in which the air quali ty reg ularl y drops to fresh air level. This should ty picall y occu r during times in w hich the rooms are un occupied. Th e sensor reach es its normal a ccuracy af ter 24 hours of c onti nuous operation in an envir onmen t that h as been s ubjected to a f resh air suppl y . The deviati on err ors re main minimal if the senso r is expo sed to f resh ai r at leas t 4 times w ithin 2 8 days. The ABC lo gic needs cont inuous opera ting cy cles of m ore th an 24 hours to operat e corr ectl y.
Manual calibration of air quality
After conn ectin g the device, ensure co ntinu ous operati on for a t least 2 h ours us ing air defined as "norm al" air quality. Manual c alibration c an be st art ed by pressing the DIP 3 button, irr espective of the DIP3 switch st atus. The calibrat ion procedu re is st arted by pressing the "ZER O" but ton (f or appr ox. fi ve seco nds). This is signalled via t he flas hing LED. Then calibra tion takes pla ce. During this p hase, th e LED is co ntinu ously a ctiv e and a 60 0 secon d countdow n runs.
Putting in operation
After swit ching o n the device, a self-tes t and te mperi ng period follo ws. This proc ess tak es aro und 30 - 50 min utes, d ependi ng on the a mbien t condi tions. It is impe rati ve to perform manu al calibratio n once t his pro cess is completed. Th e ABC logic can t hen be op tiona lly act ivat ed.
Switching point set ting
A switching po int bet ween 10 % an d 95 % of the measur ing ran ge can be select ed using the SE T pote ntiometer. A potential-free c hange over contact is available as a s witc h outp ut.
Of fs et
The VOC measured value can be adjusted subsequently using the offset potentiometer. The adjusting r ange is ± 10 % of the m easur ing range.
