Description
Bench grinders are useful for
sharpening tools (drills, scissors, chisels,
etc.); refacing tools (removing burrs
from tool edges); and removing
material as wanted.
The two different types of wheel allow
the grinder to meet various needs.
Typically, use the coarse grinding wheel
for rough cutting -- removing a larger
amount of material. Use the medium
wheel for finishing to leave a smoother
surface.
Unpacking
When unpacking this product, carefully
inspect for any damage that may have
occurred during transit.

4. Do not wear jewelry when operating
any tool. Jewelry may become
caught in moving parts and result in
serious personal injury.
5. Always use attachments designed for
use with this tool. Do not use
damaged or worn attachments.
6. Never activate the tool when not
applied to a work object.
Attachments must be securely
attached. Loose attachments can
cause serious injury.
7. Use steady, even pressure when
using tool. Do not force. Too much
pressure can cause the wheel to
crack, break, or overheat.
8. Keep all nuts, bolts and screws tight
and ensure equipment is in safe
working condition.
9. Do not put hands near or under
moving parts.
WORK AREA
Do not
operate a power tool in an
explosive atmosphere, such
as in the presence of
flammable liquids, gases, or
dust. Power tools create sparks which
may ignite the fumes or dust.
Keep work area
clean and well lighted. Cluttered benches
and dark areas invite accidents.
Keep bystanders,
children, and visitors away while
operating a power tool. Distractions
can cause you to lose control.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
Do not
expose power tools to rain
or wet conditions. Water
entering a power tool will
increase the risk of electric shock.
Do not abuse cord.
• Never carry tool by its cord.
• Never pull the cord to disconnect
from receptacle. Pull plug at outlet
rather than pulling the cord.
1. Make sure cord is located so that it will
not be stepped on, tripped over, or
otherwise subjected to damage or
stress.
2. Do not use an extension cord unless
absolutely necessary. Use of
improper extension cord could result
in a risk of fire and electric
shock. If an extension cord must be
used, make sure:
• That the pins on plug of extension
cord are the same number, size and
shape as those of plug.

• That the extension cord is properly
wired and in good electrical
condition.
• If an extension cord is to be used
outdoors it must be marked with the
suffix “W-A” or “W” following the
cord type designation to indicate it is
acceptable for outdoor use. For
example – SJTW-A.
• See Table titled “Minimum Wire Size
(AWG) of Extension Cord for Bench
Grinder” for proper extension cord
regulations for the bench grinder.
GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
In the event of a malfunction or
breakdown, grounding provides a path
of least resistance for electric current to
reduce the risk of electric shock. This
tool is equipped with an electric cord
having an equipment-grounding
conductor and a grounding plug. The
plug must be plugged into a matching
outlet that is properly installed and
grounded in accordance with all local
codes and ordinances.
DO NOT modify the plug provided - if it
will not fit the outlet, have the proper
outlet installed by a qualified
electrician. Improper connection of the
equipment-grounding conductor can
result in a risk of electric shock. This
tool is intended for use on a circuit that
has an outlet that looks like the one
illustrated in Figure 1. The tool has a
grounding plug that looks like the plug
illustrated in Figure 1. DO NOT use an
adapter with this tool.
PERSONAL SAFETY
Do not misuse this
product. Excessive exposure to vibration,
work in awkward positions, and
repetitive work motions can cause injury
to hands and arms. Stop using any tool if
discomfort, numbness, tingling, or pain
occur, and consult a physician.

1. Stay alert, watch what you are doing,
and use common sense when
operating a power tool. Do not use
tool while tired or under the influence
of drugs, alcohol, or medication. A
moment of inattention while
operating power tools may result in
serious personal injury.
Avoid accidental
starting. Be sure switch is in the locked
or off position before making any
adjustments, changing accessories, or
storing the tool. Carrying tools with
your finger on the switch or with the
switch on invites accidents.
2. Remove adjusting keys or wrenches
before turning on the tool. A key or
wrench attached to a rotating part of
the tool may result in personal injury.
3. Do not overreach. Keep
proper footing and
balance at all times.
Proper footing and
balance enable better
control of the tool in unexpected
situations.
4. Always work in a well-
ventilated area. Wear an
OSHA-approved dust
mask and safety glasses.
5. Keep hands away from rotating parts.
6. Use the tool rest or another practical
way to secure the workpiece.
7. Always use correct size wheels and
made for your grinder. Wheels that
do not match the mounting
hardware will run eccentrically,
causing great risk or injury to the
user and damage to the tool.
TOOL USE AND CARE
Do not use tool if
switch does not turn it on or off. Any tool
that cannot be controlled with the switch
is dangerous and must be repaired.
1. This tool must NOT be modified or
used for any application other than
that for which it was designed.
Do not force the
tool. At all times, let the grinder do the
work, do not force it or apply excessive
pressure to the wheel / cutter. Use the
correct tool for your application. The
correct tool will do the job better and
safer at the rate for which it is designed.

pareja. Presionar demasiado recalienta
el motor y desgasta prematuramente
la rueda abrasiva o hace que ésta se
dañe. Tómese su tiempo y no apure
su proyecto. Es importante recordar el
ángulo original de inclinación del objeto
que se está afilando; intente mantener
dicha forma cuando trabaja.
La rueda abrasiva debe girar sobre
el objeto a afilar. Mantenga una
bandeja con agua cerca y moje la
pieza de trabajo regularmente para
evitar que se recaliente. Además,
el recalentamiento puede debilitar la
pieza de trabajo, haciendo que el metal
sea menos efectivo al hacer su trabajo
o provocando accidentes con el uso
posterior.
Ésta es una lista de consejos útiles si usa
una rectificadora de banco para afilar
los siguientes artículos:
TIJERAS
Si fuera posible, separe las tijeras para
que el afilado sea más fácil y seguro.
Quite el material de la superficie
exterior ÚNICAMENTE. NO afile la
superficie interna de las tijeras.
Trabaje desde el extremo pesado
(grueso) de las tijeras hacia la punta
(vea la figura 6).
CUCHILLAS
Quite el material de AMBAS caras
o lados de la mayoría de las cuchillas.
Trabaje desde el extremo pesado (grueso)
de las cuchillas hacia la punta.
DESTORNILLADORES (PLANOS)
El extremo de un destornillador
correctamente afilado formará
un borde parejo y perfecto,
plano y perpendicular al mango del
destornillador. Sostenga cada cara del
destornillador contra al rueda de la
rectificadora de banco. Mueva el
extremo de forma recta contra la rueda
para rectificarlo correctamente. Al igual
que con toda operación en la que deba
colocar un objeto directamente en la
rueda abrasiva, TENGA CUIDADO y
tómese su tiempo. NO se apure.
BROCAS DE TALADRO
La MEJOR forma de afilar las brocas de
taladro es utilizando un marco para
afilar (disponible en la mayoría de las
ferreterías), pero se pueden dejar
“más elegantes” con su rectificadora
de banco. Comience de un punto
lateral del ángulo existente contra la
superficie abrasiva, lentamente gire la
broca hacia la derecha. Sólo afilará la
punta. Esta técnica exige cierta
paciencia, tómese su tiempo y
practique algunas veces para sentirse
cómodo. Asegúrese de mantener el
ángulo original de la cabeza de la
broca – esto es muy importante para la
futura eficiencia de la broca de taladro
(vea la figura 7).
Diagnóstico
y resolución
de problemas
Si bien su nueva rectificadora de banco
es muy fácil de operar, si tiene
problemas, verifique lo siguiente:
1. La rectificadora no enciende
Verifique que haya corriente en
el tomacorriente; pruebe con
un electrodoméstico; verifique
las conexiones del enchufe;
corrija y ajuste las conexiones
defectuosas; verifique el fusible;
si no está seguro reemplácelo con
la clasificación correcta.
2. La rueda oscila o vibra
Verifique que la contratuerca esté
ajustada. Verifique que la rueda esté
correctamente ubicada en el eje
y la arandela de posición. Si se ejerció
demasiada presión o la rueda se
“atascó”, puede estar dañada,
haciendo que vibre. Si hay pruebas
de que la rueda está dañada, no la
use, quítela y reemplácela por una
nueva. Deseche las ruedas viejas con
cuidado.
3. La rueda deja terminaciones
brutas.
Demasiada presión en la rueda
puede hacer que la terminación
de la superficie sea insuficiente.
Si trabaja con aluminio o una
aleación blanda similar, la rueda se
obstruirá pronto y no rectificará
correctamente.
No se recomienda rectificar aluminio ni
aleaciones blandas similares. Obstruirán
la rueda y posiblemente causen daños
a la rectificadora o lesiones al usuario.
Esta rectificadora de banco no tiene
otras piezas que necesiten servicio
por parte del usuario.
Entretien
El servicio de la herramienta debe
ser realizado sólo por personal de
reparaciones calificado. El servicio
o mantenimiento realizado por
personas no calificadas puede
provocar riesgo de lesiones.
Mantenga su herramienta en buenas
condiciones realizándole un
mantenimiento periódico. Después de
seis meses a un año, dependiendo del
uso, devuelva la herramienta a la
instalación de servicio de Campbell
Hausfeld para:
• Lubricación
• Inspección mecánica y limpieza
• Inspección eléctrica
• Pruebas para asegurar el
funcionamiento adecuado
Si la herramienta no enciende o no
funciona correctamente, devuelva la
herramienta a una instalación de
servicios para repararla.
Limpieza
Limpie el polvo y los desechos de
los orificios y contactos eléctricos,
soplando con aire comprimido.

2. Check for misalignment or binding
of moving parts, breakage of parts,
and any other condition that may
affect the tool’s operation. If
damaged, have the tool serviced
before using. Many accidents are
caused by poorly maintained tools.
3. Use only accessories that are
recommended by the manufacturer
for your model. Accessories suitable
for one tool may create a risk of
injury when used on another tool.
4. Store tools out of reach of children
and other untrained persons. Tools
are dangerous in the hands of
untrained users.
Safety Rules for
Bench Grinders
1. Be sure that the guards are in place
to protect the operator against
flying debris and injury in case the
wheel breaks.
2. Check the wheel for cracks and
chipped edges before mounting
and/or running tool. Stand away
from the front of the wheel and
run for more than one minute to
test it. Replace if you note anything
abnormal. Then test new wheel for
more than 3 minutes.
3. Use only the face of a straight
wheel and the side of a cup wheel
when grinding. Avoid sudden feeds
of work into wheel to minimize the
possibility of cracks or breakage.
4. Let wheel come up to full speed
after switching on and BEFORE you
start to use the grinder.
5. Replace cracked, chipped or
damaged wheels immediately.
6. Be sure the wheel you intend to
mount as a replacement has no
cracks, chipped areas or defects.
Mount wheel on a rod or pencil
through arbor hole and tap side
lightly with a wooden handle or piece
of wood. If it rings clear when tapped
at several places when the wheel is
rotated, the wheel can be used.
7. Adjust tool rests so they are within
1 mm (.04") - 3 mm (.118") of the
grinding wheel. Height of tool rests
should be so that they are level with
the middle (center) of the wheels.
8. Always keep the clearance between
the face of a straight wheel and the
adjust plate less than 1.6 mm (.06").
With a cup wheel, the adjust cover
should be within 1 mm (.04") - 3 mm
(.118") from the wheel surface. This
will prevent bodily harm should the
wheel fly apart and or something
become caught inside.
9. For safe use, keep the standardequipped eye shields in position at
all times.
10. Before switching on the grinder,
turn the grinding wheel by hand to
make sure it is not striking the
work or tool rest.
11. Always use guards and eye shields.
12. Do not over tighten wheel nut.
13. Use only flanges furnished with the
grinder.
Assembly
Before use, the eye shields/spark
arresters must be fitted to the grinder.
Remove both eye shields from packaging,
position the shields over the two
mounting brackets above the grinding
wheels with the flanges of the spark
arrester facing away from you, fix with
the screw and washer provided. At this
stage do not fully lighten, see Figure 3.
