Function
The Caleffi HYDROCAL™ combination air, dirt and hydro separator is a device that, incorporates high performance air and dirt removal functionality into the hydro separation function which makes the primary and secondary circuits connected to it hydraulically independent, and can be used on hot or chilled water systems. The HYDROCAL features a proven stainless steel internal element that combines to continuously and automatically eliminate air micro-bubbles with the simultaneous removal of dirt particles as tiny as 5 microns. The air discharge capacity is very high, with the capability of automatically removing all the air present in the system down to the micro-bubble level. The 3 in 1 high performance functionality of the HYDROCAL saves system installation and maintenance costs as there is no need to include separate air and dirt separators.

SAFETY INSTRUCTION
This safety alert symbol will be used in this manual to draw attention to safety related instructions. When used, the safety alert symbol means ATTENTION! BECOME ALERT!
YOUR SAFETY IS INVOLVED! FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS MAY RESULT IN A SAFETY HAZARD.
CAUTION: All work must be performed by qualified personnel trained in the
proper application, installation, and maintenance of systems in accordance with all applicable codes and ordinances.
CAUTION: If the HYDROCAL is not installed, commissioned and maintained properly, according to the instructions contained in this manual, it may not operate correctly and may endanger the user.
CAUTION: Make sure that all the connecting pipework is water tight.
CAUTION: When making the water connections, make sure that the
hydronic separator connecting pipework is not mechanically overstressed. Over time this could cause breakages, with consequent water losses which, in turn, could cause harm to property and/or people.
CAUTION: Water temperatures higher than 100°F (38°C) can be dangerous. During the installation, commissioning and maintenance of the hydronic separator, take the necessary precautions to ensure that such temperatures do not endanger people.
