PM-20
Wood/Building Material Moisture Meter
DESCRIPTION
The device PM-20 is used to measure the moisture content of wood and building materials - on con- dition they are not conductive materials! The measurement is invasive by two needles with use of resistivity method. Equipped with 3.5 mm jack for connecting a wide range of measurement accessories (SP1, PP2, BE3, PE4, PE5, CK6, VK7). Through the graphical display, the device is easy to use and ensures a quick determination of the tendency of moisture.

2. Switch off the moisture meter
The device will switch off automatically if it is not used for a long time (after 5 minutes). This extends the life of the inserted batteries. To manually turn off the moisture meter, press and hold the ON / OFF button. Each time the power is turned off , the last settings (scale, language) are saved.

3. Measurement
The device examines the properties of the material by means of a remanence measurement. The dielectric properties depend on the humidity, the bulk density of the material and the metal elements.
CAUTION!! Metal parts (such as nails, screws) in the measuring range of the device increase the measured value. The measurement results are shown on the display. The moisture meter has 13 scales that allow to determine the humidity of the given material. The selected area is shown at the bottom of the display.
Before the measurement, remove the protective cap. Press the measuring needles lightly into the wood or plaster to be measured. The measurement is automatic, so that the measured value can now be read from the display. As soon as the measuring needles are removed, the measured value changes. After the measurement, replace the protective cap.
As an optional accessory, attachable depth probes are available for measurements in plaster and masonry (GE10, GE31). The probes are connected via 3½mm jack connection.

4. Selection of the scale
By including 13 scales in the device you can do without the correction table. This makes the measurement not only more accurate but also easier and more convenient. The selected area is shown at the bottom of the display. To change the scale, briefl y press the ‚SET’ key. CAUTION!! After switching on the device, the last selected scale appears on the display.

5. Operating menu
The operating menu is used to change the individual measuring scales as well as for language selection. To get into the operating menu, you have to keep the left and right buttons pressed at the same time. The left and right buttons are used for navigation in the operating menu. The ‚ON / OFF’ button changes the menu levels and confi rms the set parameters. CAUTION!! The most important parameters are protected against unwanted changes by an additional warning and confi rmation query. Pressing the Back button will take you to the higher menu levels. Confi rming the Back option at the fi rst menu level will take you to the main window.
6. Voice dialing

To avoid accidental changes,it must be confi rmed. Press ‚ON / OFF’ again to confi rm, press the left button to ignore the changes. The language is also saved after removing the batteries.
7. Power supply
The moisture meter PM-20 is powered by two AA batteries. Approved is the use of simple batteries and rechargeable batteries. The battery level indicator shows the discharge status of the batteries. If the battery image is not fi lled, the battery change is necessary. The batteries must be replaced with a new battery pack of the same type. Using a rechargeable battery in a kit with a single battery or a partially discharged battery with a new battery is not permitted. The location of the batteries in the battery compartment is shown in the fi gure below.
