1.3 Preface
Thank you for choosing Cadi.Sense Wireless Thermometer, the next generation thermometry. Cadi.Sense is a continuous and automatic temperature monitoring solution that is specially
T-S1-800.900-I10-B01 4
designed for home use. This product revolutionizes the way temperature is measured by using a temperature sensor “button”, called the ThermoSensor, which has been used in hospitals since 2004.
By simply pasting the ThermoSensor (by sticking it to the inside of the diaper/undergarment), temperature can be continuously and automatically measured and sent wirelessly to the SmartNode receiver, enabling you to conveniently monitor your loved ones’ temperature, without disturbing their rest and play, on your mobile devices or computers. The system allows you to monitor the trend of the readings, enabling you to better manage fever. The readings can be saved in spreadsheets for reference and further analysis.
1.4 International Awards and Recognition
The ThermoSensor has been given the following awards:
Enterprise Challenge Innovator Award 2004, given to Cadi Scientific by The Enterprise Challenge, a unit under the Singapore Prime Minister’s Office that funds innovative proposals with the potential to create new value or significant improvements to the delivery of public service.
National Healthcare Group Scientific Congress Award 2006, given to Tan Tock Seng Hospital for a clinical study on ThermoSensor presented at the congress.
Asian Hospital Management Award 2007, given to Singapore General Hospital for its technical service improvement project on wireless monitoring of vital signs including temperature.
Red Dot Design Award 2008, given to Cadi Scientific by Red Dot Institute, Germany, in an international design competition with more than 12,000 submissions from more than 60 countries.
Frost & Sullivan Customer Service Leadership Award 2009 in the Southeast Asia wireless sensor networks market.
Microsoft Healthcare User Group Award 2010.
The clinical accuracy of the ThermoSensor in measuring body temperature has been found in several clinical studies to be comparable to that of conventional methods. The device has been used by patients in hospitals in Singapore, Malaysia and other countries. In addition, the device complies with the regulatory requirements of the European Union (EU) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

1.7 How Does Cadi.Sense Work?
ThermoSensor measures your loved one’s temperatures periodically (every 30 secs)
and sends the temperature readings wirelessly to the SmartNode receiver.
SmartNode receives the temperature readings.
Cadi.Sense web-based application software enables you to view the
temperature readings in real time from a computer or smartphone via WiFi.
1.8 About Normal Body Temperature and Fever
The measured body temperature of a person depends on where it is measured, how it is measured, when it is measured and how old the person is. In addition, the range of normal body temperature varies from person to person. For temperature measured using Cadi.Sense, a temperature higher than 37.8 °C should be considered a fever.
Please follow the step-by-step instructions closely to ensure that the ThermoSensor is properly pasted.
Important Notes:
Please note that the ThermoSensor may take about 10 minutes to heat up from room temperature to the body temperature. A temperature reading is wirelessly sent every 30 seconds to your SmartNode, and this temperature reading will appear on the Cadi.Sense application.
Paste the ThermoSensor by sticking the adhesive part to the inside of the diaper/undergarment, so that the sensor's metal part will touch the lower abdomen (left or right) when the diaper/undergarment is properly worn. Note that temperature readings may not be accurate if ThermoSensor is incorrectly pasted.

Note (b): If the connection is successful, the following text will appear: “SmartNode is now connected to xxxxxx. To access SmartNode, please go to www.cadisense.com or use the LAN URL. Please be patient as SmartNode needs about a minute to reboot.” Figure 6 shall then appear. However if the connection is not successful, the following text will appear: “Connection failed – please try again, or switch off and on SmartNode then try again.”
Note (c): After successful connection to your WiFi router, SmartNode will remember the router’s SSID and password (unless you have intentionally unmarked the default “Remember Settings” during connection). So if you were to switch off and on SmartNode, it will automatically re-connect to your WiFi router, taking about 2 minutes.
Step 2:
After successful connection to your WiFi router, you may not be able to use “http://10.10.10.10” to access your SmartNode anymore. Nonetheless you can still access it using the LAN URL (in the example shown in Figure 6, the LAN URL is http://10.0.0.84).

Step 3:
Find the UPNP setting and enable it (note: some router may not have this feature). You may have to reboot your WiFi router for the setting to take effect (please check with your WiFi router’s manual). You may have to reboot SmartNode (taking about 2 minutes) by switching it off and on again.
Step 4:
If UPNP feature is not available or not working, then you have to carry out manual port forwarding. Basically, the objective of manual port forwarding is to instruct your WiFi router to allow external (outside home) access of your SmartNode. Different routers may have different ways and names for carrying out port forwarding (also called virtual server), but the main information to be keyed into your WiFi router are similar:
(1) Device IP Address (also called Local IP): the LAN URL (please refer to Section 2.2
Step2), which is the LAN IP address of SmartNode
(2) Public Port (also called external port): 50000
(3) Private Port (also called internal port, local port, or host port): 80
(4) Protocol: TCP
(5) Enable: Yes
Note: (a) Please refer to the section “More Information on Port Forwarding” for details on several different WiFi routers. (b) You may have to reboot your WiFi router for the settings to take effect (please check with your WiFi router’s manual). You may have to reboot SmartNode (taking about 2 minutes) by switching it off and on again.
