documentation necessary to install and manage the ESX-1320R or the
ESX-1380R Ethernet Workgroup Switch. This addendum documents the
hardware differences between the ESX-1320/ESX-1380 and the
ESX-1320R/ESX-1380R. Refer to the
ESX-1320/ESX-1380 Installation Guide
for information concerning installation and troubleshooting. Refer to the
ESX-1320/ESX-1380 Local Management Guide
for information on accessing and
using Local Management.
Overview
The ESX-1320R and the ESX-1380R are functionally the same as the ESX-1320
and the ESX-1380, respectively, except the ESX-1320R and the ESX-1380R are
equipped with redundant, load sharing power supplies. If one power supply fails,
the other power supply continues to provide the power necessary to operate the
unit. Two LEDs on the back of the unit (see Figure 1) indicate the operating
status of the two power supplies. To accommodate the addition of the second
internal power supply, the depths of the ESX-1320R and the ESX-1380R are
greater than those or the ESX-1320 and the ESX-1380.
THIS UNIT HAS TWO POWER SUPPLY CORDS. DISCONNECT BOTH
POWER SUPPLY CORDS BEFORE SERVICING TO AVOID ELECTRIC
SHOCK.

Power Supply Operation
Power Supply Operation
The ESX-1320R and the ESX-1380R are equipped with two load sharing power
supplies to provide redundancy. Two power cord outlets, labeled Power 1 and
Power 2 (see Figure 1), are used to provide power to each power supply. To take
advantage of the load sharing and redundancy capabilities, each power cord must
be plugged into a dedicated ac outlet.
LANVIEW Diagnostic LEDs
In addition to the LANVIEW LEDs located on the front panel of the ESX-1320
and the ESX-1380, the ESX-1320R and the ESX-1380R are equipped with two
LANVIEW diagnostic LEDs located on the rear of the unit (see Figure 1). These
LEDs provide an easy way to observe the status of the individual power supplies.
Table 1 provides a description of the LANVIEW power supply LEDs.
