Installing eDataQuality software
Follow the appropriate instructions below for your operating system.
Installing
eDataQuality on UNIX
The eDataQuality installation on UNIX uses a step-by-step command-prompt
installer.
1.Insert the appropriate eDataQuality CD into the CD-ROM drive (either the
Client or Server CD, as necessary).
2.Mount the CD-ROM drive.
3.At the UNIX command line, change directories to your CD-ROM drive.
4.Enter the command install_console.

Installing
eDataQuality on
Windows
®
The eDataQuality installation on Windows uses a familiar installation wizard.
1.Insert the appropriate eDataQuality CD into the CD-ROM drive (either the
Client or Server CD, as necessary).
2.The installation program should start automatically. If it doesn’t, choose Start
> Run from the task bar. At the Run prompt, type x:\setup (where x is the
CD-ROM drive) and then click OK.
3.Follow the on-screen installation instructions to complete the installation.
Environment variablesIf you use the JNI-Java, Pure Java, or Perl clients, some of your environment
variables require updates to work properly. On Windows, the installer attempts to
automatically update the necessary paths at the beginning of the variable.
Copying the address
directories
If you use UNIX, you must manually set these variables. See "Additional client
setup steps"in the "Setting up the eDataQuality clients"section of your
eDataQuality User’s Guide for details on setting up these variables.
After installing your software, be sure to copy the proper address directories to
your system. For details, see "Installing the directories"in the "Setting up the
eDataQuality server"section of your eDataQuality User’s Guide for details.

eDataQuality 7.60c Release Notes
Updating your server configuration
You must update your server configuration when upgrading to version 7.60c.
Automatically
updating your
configuration
Manually updating
your configuration
If you use the eDataQuality configuration tool, you can automatically update your
existing configuration. For details on the eDataQuality configuration tool, see
"eDataQuality configuration tool"in the "Setting up the eDataQuality
server"section your eDataQuality Suite User’s Guide. That section of the user’s
guide includes details about how to set up your configuration tool, including how
to set up environment variables.
To automatically update your server configuration:
1.Open the eDataQuality configuration tool.
2.In the configuration tool, open your existing server configuration file.
When you install 7.60c, your existing configuration edqconfig.xml file is
backed up and moved to install_location/edqsrv/bin/back_ups.
When you open your existing file, the configuration tool will automatically
make the necessary changes to upgrade your configuration.
3.Save the updated configuration file to install_location/edqsrv/bin.
If you choose not to use the eDataQuality configuration tool, you can instead
manually update your configuration. To do this, you can either simply reconfigure
the newly installed edqconfig.xml, or follow these steps:
1.Open your existing edqconfig.xml from install_location/edqsrv/bin/
back_ups in a text-editing application or XML-editing application.
2.Change the values, as necessary.
3.Save the updated configuration file to install_location/edqsrv/bin.

For UNIXSample makefiles are included in the installation for review. These samples are
included in install_location/client/samples/cpp. Be sure that the appropriate
compiler defines are included in your makefiles. The following table shows the
required defines per platform:
PlatformRequired compiler defines
AIX PS_UNIX_AIX433
PS_UNIX_AIX6000
SolarisPS_UNIX_SOL
HPPS_UNIX_HP
PS_UNIX_HP9000
LinuxPS_UNIX_LINUX
Recompile your clientAfter installing the updated 7.60c client software, be sure to recompile your client
