Thank you for purchasing your new Bushnell® Bear Grylls Binoculars or Monocular.

This manual will help you optimize your viewing experience by explaining how you can adjust the optics to your eyes, and how to care for them. Read these instructions carefully before using your binocular or monocular.

EYE ADJUSTMENTS (Binoculars only)

How to Adjust for Distance Between Your Eyes

The distance between the eyes, called “interpupillary distance” or IPD, varies from person to person. To achieve perfect alignment of lens to eyes, follow these simple steps:

1. Hold your binocular in the normal viewing position.

2. Grasp each barrel rmly. Move the barrels closer together or further apart until you see a single circular eld. Always re-set your binocular to this position before using it.

How to Adjust for Individual Eye Strength

As individual eyesight varies from one person to another, your Bushnell Bear Grylls binocular has a diopter setting feature which allows you to ne-tune the binocular to your vision. Follow the focusing instructions on the next page.

EYECUP ADJUSTMENT

Your Bushnell Bear Grylls binocular or monocular is tted with twist-up eyecups designed for your comfort and to exclude extraneous light. For users without eyeglasses, twist the eyecups up, rotating the eyecups

counter-clockwise until they lock into the fully “up” position.

If you wear glasses, make sure the eyecups are in the down position — this will bring your eyes closer to the binocular lens, allowing you to see the full eld of view. To lower the eyecups from the full “up” position, rotate them clockwise. The eyecups may also be left at positions “in between” fully up and fully down, which may suit

some individuals better.

FOCUSING (Binoculars only)

1. Adjust the interpupillary distance by adjusting the center hinge until you see a single circular image.

2. The diopter adjustment ring is located directly below the right eyecup. Make sure the diopter adjustment is set to “zero” for now (raised index tab on the diopter ring is lined up with center mark on the binocular). Keep both eyes open at all times.

3. Using the attached lens cap (10x42 binocular only) or your hand, cover the objective (front) lens on the right side of the binocular as you look into the eyepieces.

4. Using the center focus knob, focus on a distant object with ne detail (e.g., brick wall, tree branches, etc) until it appears as sharp as possible on the left side.

5. Uncover the objective lens on the right side, and cover the left objective lens while continuing to view the same object.

6. Rotate the diopter adjustment ring to bring the object into focus in the right side of the binocular. Avoid over-turning or forcing the diopter mechanism. If you are unable to bring the object into focus in the right side by adjusting the diopter ring, make sure the left side is still focused and that the center focus knob was not moved from its original setting. The diopter adjustment only aects the right side.

7. Your binocular should now be adjusted for your eyes. Focusing for any distance can now be done simply by turning the center focus knob. Make a note of the diopter setting you made (index tab position relative to the +/- scale) for future reference.

FOCUSING (Monocular only)

To focus the monocular, simply rotate the orange focusing ring until your subject appears as sharp as possible. Monoculars do not require an IPD adjustment or diopter adjustment as only one eye is used for viewing. If you are not wearing eyeglasses, extend the eyecup by twisting it counter-clockwise (to retract, twist the eyecup clockwise). A lanyard is included with the monocular, which attaches through the lug just below the focusing ring.

NECKSTRAP ATTACHMENT

Thread the ends of the neckstrap through the strap lugs on each side of the binocular, then back through the plastic buckle. Adjust the position of the binoculars on your chest as they hang around your neck to your preference by changing the length of the strap portion which passes through the lug and buckle (by an equal amount on each side).

TRIPOD SOCKET

The 10x42 Bear Grylls binocular is tripod adaptable. To attach it to a tripod or monopod, unscrew (counter-clockwise) the “B” logo cap which covers the threaded socket inside the center hinge, and set it aside in a safe place. Use a compatible binocular tripod adapter, such as the Bushnell model #161002CM, (an accessory bracket, shown here, which attaches between the binocular and tripod) to attach your 10x42 binocular to any standard tripod to provide a stable image during prolonged viewing.

WATERPROOF / FOGPROOF

Your Bushnell Bear Grylls binocular has been designed and built utilizing the latest waterproof and fogproof technology. The binoculars are O-ring sealed for complete moisture protection. Fogproof protection is achieved from dry nitrogen purging that removes all internal moisture.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR CARE

Your Bushnell Bear Grylls binocular will provide years of trouble-free service if it receives the normal care you would give any ne optical instrument.

1. Avoid sharp impacts. Set the binocular down gently on hard surfaces.

2. Tug on the strap after attaching it to make sure it is securely fastened to the binocular before placing it around your neck.

3. Store your binocular in a cool, dry place whenever possible.

CLEANING

1. Blow away any dust or debris on the lens (or use a soft lens brush).

2. To remove dirt or nger prints, use the supplied cleaning cloth, moving in a circular motion. Use of a coarse cloth or unnecessary rubbing may scratch the lens surface and eventually cause permanent damage. A washable “microber” cleaning cloth is ideal for the routine cleaning of your optics. Simply breathe lightly on the lens to provide a slight amount of moisture, then gently rub the lens with the microber cloth.

3. For a more thorough cleaning, photographic lens tissue and photographic-type lens cleaning uid or isopropyl alcohol may be used. Always apply the uid to the cleaning cloth – never directly on the lens.

We are so proud of our Bushnell® Bear Grylls Monocular and Binoculars that their materials and workmanship are warranted to be free of defects for the life of the product. The warranty is available to any owner of the Bear Grylls optics. This warranty does not cover damages caused by misuse or improper handling, installation or maintenance of the binoculars or monocular. At our option, we will repair or replace any defective Bear Grylls binocular or monocular, which shall be your sole remedy under this warranty. In no event shall we be liable for transportation costs to us, costs of removal or reinstallation of the binocular, or incidental or consequential damages. Some states do not allow the exclusion of limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.

Any return in the U.S. or Canada made under this warranty must be accompanied by the items listed below:

RÉGLAGES OCULAIRES (jumelles uniquement)

Comment ajuster l’écart entre vos deux yeux

La distance entre les deux yeux, également appelée “écart inter pupillaire”, varie d’une personne à l’autre. Pour que les yeux soient parfaitement en face des lentilles, suivez ces quelques étapes très simples :

1. Tenez vos jumelles normalement, comme si vous regardiez au loin.

2. Tenez fermement chaque lunette. Rapprochez les lunettes ou éloignez-les l’une de l’autre jusqu’à ce que vous puissiez voir un seul champ circulaire. Remettre toujours vos jumelles sur cette position avant de les utiliser.

Comment ajuster la dioptrie

La vue varie d’un individu à l’autre, c’est pourquoi vos jumelles Bushnell Bear Grylls jumelles sont équipées d’un dispositif d’ajustement dioptrique qui vous permettra de régler les jumelles à votre vue de manière précise. Suivre les instructions concernant la mise au point situées sur la page suivante.

AJUSTEMENT DES ŒILLETONS

Vos jumelles ou votre monoculaire Bear Grylls de Bushnell sont équipés d’œilletons rotatifs conçus pour votre confort et pour éliminer toute lumière superue. Pour les utilisateurs sans lunettes, tourner les œilletons vers le haut, en tournant les œilletons dans le sens contraire des aiguilles d’une montre jusqu’à ils se verrouillent dans la position

“haute”. Si vous porter des lunettes, s’assurer que les œilletons sont en position “basse”- ceci amènera vos yeux plus prêt des lentilles de jumelles, vous permettant de voir le champ de vision complet. Pour abaisser les œilletons de la position “haute”, faites-les simplement tourner dans le sens des aiguilles d’une montre. Les œilletons peuvent aussi être laissés dans des positions “entre” complètement haute et complètement basse, ce qui peut mieux convenir à certains.

MISE AU POINT (jumelles uniquement)

1. Régler l’écart inter pupillaire jusqu’à voir une image circulaire unique.

2. La bague de réglage dioptrique est située juste en dessous l’œilleton droit. Veillez à ce que le réglage de la dioptrie soit sur «zéro» pour le moment (l’onglet d’index en relief sur la bague dioptrique est aligné sur la marque centrale des jumelles). Gardez les deux yeux ouverts pendant la durée du réglage.

3. En utilisant les capuchons de lentilles intégrés (jumelles 10x42 uniquement) ou votre main, couvrez l’objectif (avant) sur le côté droit des jumelles pendant que vous regardez dans les oculaires.

4. En utilisant la molette centrale faire la mise au point sur un objet lointain doté d’une multitude de détails (par exemple un mur de briques, les branches d’un arbre, etc.) jusqu’à ce que celui-ci soit le plus net possible sur le coté gauche.

5. Découvrir la lentille de focalisation sur le coté droit et couvrir la lentille de focalisation gauche tout en continuant de visualiser le même objet.

6. Tournez la bague de réglage de la dioptrie pour mettre au point l’objet sur le côté droit des jumelles. Eviter de trop tourner ou de forcer le mécanisme dioptrique. Si vous êtes dans l’incapacité de mettre au point l’objet dans le coté droit en réglant la bague dioptrique, assurez vous que le coté gauche est toujours mis au point et que la molette de mise au point centrale ne s’est pas déplacée de son réglage d’origine. L’ajustement dioptrique n’aecte que le côté droit.

7. Vos jumelles sont maintenant ajustées à votre vue. La mise au point pour toute distance peut maintenant être eectuée en tournant la molette centrale de mise au point. Notez le réglage de dioptrie que vous venez d’eectuer (position de l’onglet d’index par rapport à l’échelle +/-) pour vous y référer plus tard.

MISE AU POINT (monoculaire uniquement)

Pour mettre au point le monoculaire, tournez la bague de mise au point orange jusqu’à ce que le sujet soit aussi net que possible. Les monoculaires ne nécessitent aucun réglage de la distance interpupillaire (IPD) ni aucun réglage dioptrique, étant donné qu’un seul œil est utilisé pour l’observation. Si vous ne portez pas de lunettes, éteignez l’œilleton en le faisant tourner dans le sens inverse des aiguilles d’une montre (pour le rétracter, tournez l’œilleton dans le sens des aiguilles d’une montre). Un cordon est fourni avec le monoculaire. Celui-ci s’attache à l’aide de la bride située en-dessous de la bague de mise au point.

FIXATION DE LA BANDOULIÈRE

Faites passer les extrémités de la bandoulière dans les attaches prévues à cet eet de chaque côté des jumelles, puis de nouveau dans la boucle en plastique. Ajustez la position des jumelles à votre goût sur votre poitrine tandis qu’elles sont autour de votre cou, en changeant la longueur de la partie de la bandoulière qui passe dans les attaches et la boucle (d’une longueur égale de chaque côté).

ARTICULATION DU TREPIED

Les jumelles Bear Grylls 10x42 sont adaptables sur trépied. Pour les xer au trépied ou au pied, dévissez (dans le sens inverse des aiguilles d’une montre) le couvercle logo « B » qui couvre le manchon à vis à l’intérieur de la charnière centrale, et conservez-le en lieu sûr. Utilisez un adaptateur de trépied pour jumelles compatible, tel que le modèle Bushnell n° 161002CM (un accessoire de xation, visible ici, qui vient se placer entre les jumelles et le trépied) pour xer vos jumelles 10x42 sur tout type de trépied standard, permettant d’obtenir une image stable lors de l’observation prolongée.
