The Wireless Distribution System (WDS) or Bridge/Repeater Mode allows the AirStation to wirelessly communicate with other Buffalo AirStation Access Points (Base Stations) that support WDS. The AirStation 54 Mbps* Standard Bridge Base Station supports communication with up to six other Buffalo Bridge APs for point-to-point or point-to-multi-point communication and to cover dead zones in WLANs
The AirStation 54 Mbps* Wireless Bridge Access Point is an affordable wireless networking solution that allows you to create a wireless network or to expand the range of an existing wireless network. The AirStation 54 Mbps* Wireless Bridge Access Point point features a built-in 10/100M 4-port switch and Buffalo’s patented AirStation One-Touch Secure System (AOSS) technology, which enables you to set up wireless connections with the push of a button. AOSS automatically detects and configures other AOSS-enabled devices and clients to seamlessly create secure wireless connections. The AirStation 54 Mbps* Wireless Bridge Access Point also supports WDS – also known as Wireless Distribution System or the Bridge/Repeater Mode, for point-to-point or point-to-multipoint communication and covers dead spots in Wireless LAN's. WDS allows the AirStation 54 Mbps* Wireless Bridge Access Point to wirelessly communicate with other AirStation Access Points that support WDS. Other features of the AirStation 54 Mbps* Wireless Bridge Access Point include support for Wi-Fi Protected Access
(WPA) with TKIP, AES, 802.1x and WEP for added security. By supporting WDS communication with up to six other Buffalo AirStation Access Points, as well as offering the ability to support external 2.4 GHz Antennas, the AirStation 54 Mbps* Wireless Bridge Access Point is the ideal solution to create a wireless network or to greatly expand the range of your existing wireless network.

*54 Mbps is the IEEE 802.11g standard theoretical maximum data transfer rate. Actual wireless network throughput is limited by environmental and system factors and will be less. †When operating in High-Speed Mode™, this Wi-Fi device achieves an actual throughput of up to 34.1 Mbps, which is the equivalent throughput of a system following 802.11g protocol and operating at a signaling rate of 125 Mbps.
