Product description
An electric bike is a conventional bike which features power-assisted pedalling.
How do electric bikes work?
An electric bike is a conventional bike which is motorised to provide power-assisted pedalling. The power assistance only functions if the rider is pedalling. The level of assistance depends on the rider’s needs: it is greater when setting off and varies according to three modes: ECO, NORMAL and SPORT. Choose your mode according to your requirements and level of skill (sport mode cannot be used without a high level of bike riding skill). Electric bikes are covered by European Directive 92/61/CEE, which is why the power assistance is required to cut out at a speed of 25 km/h (15,5 mile/h).
Also, the power assistance only cuts in if the rider is pedalling and cuts out as soon as the rider stops pedalling or when the speed reaches 25 km/h (15,5 mile/h).

Starting to use the bike
When you start riding the bike, always check that the battery connector is correctly plugged in.
Turn the screen ON and select the power assistance mode.
Important: To use sport mode you need to be in the habit of riding a bike.
For your safety, you are advised to turn on the bike lights. Starting to pedal. Power assistance will cut in as soon as the pedals start to turn.
Make sure that you use your gears when you ride. Your bike is equipped with a Nexus derailleur which allows you to modify the gears very easily and with no risk of the chain coming off, even when you stop. Choose a gear from 1 to 3 for setting off and hills, and then gradually change up until the gear which gives you the best performance in terms of speed per pedal rotation (up to seventh gear).

How to charge the battery
Use only the charger supplied with the bike. Using another charger invalidates the product warranty and may damage the battery or the bike's electrical system. First connect the charger to the battery and then connect the charger to the mains. An orange light indicates that the battery is charging. Charging is complete when the light turns green. Charging stops automatically when the battery is fully charged. The average charge time is around five hours when the battery is new. This time may increase when the battery is older.
Battery recommendations:
• Always ensure that the charger is compatible with the local electricity grid.
• When charging is complete, you are advised to disconnect the charger from the battery.
• If you do not use the bike for more than 15 days, you are advised to store the battery in a cool dry place with a temperature of over 10°C (50 °F) and below 40°C (104°F).
• Never allow your battery to remain completely charged down for periods of over 15 days. This may damage it.
• If you do not use the bike for long periods, you need to recharge the battery once a month.
• Never leave the battery out of the bag and exposed to the sun for long periods.
• It is imperative that you protect the battery from frost and heat.
• Never allow a child to handle or play with the battery.
• Never recharge the battery in the rain or in a wet place.
• Never open the battery. Opening it may present high risks of electrocution and renders the warranty null and void.
• Never spray the battery directly with water or any other liquid.
• Prolonged use in heavy rain may require you to dry the bag and battery before reusing them.

If the bike does not function correctly,
it is essential to check the following points
before taking it back to your dealer:
• The power assistance cuts out at 25 km/h (15,5 mile/h): this is completely normal. The bike complies with the regulatory requirements covering electric bikes.
• The screen does not turn on: check that the battery is correctly connected.
• The screen displays «low batt»: the battery is not sufficiently charged. Recharge the battery fully (five hours).
• The screen displays an error message «error5»: the power cable connected to the motor is not connected properly. Check that the connector is plugged in correctly.
• The screen is on and the battery is correctly charged but the power assistance does not cut in when I pedal: check that you have selected a mode (ECO, NORMAL, SPORT).
• If you carry out all these checks and power assistance still does not cut in, or if an error message other than “error 5” appears, you must return the bike to your nearest Decathlon store.

Maintenance advice:
Never sluice your bike down. Do not clean your bike with a high-pressure cleaner. It is best to clean your bike with a damp sponge. Do not use liquid to clean the connector or the electrical components. It is best to clean them with a brush.
Warranty conditions:
Please keep your receipt as proof of purchase. The bike frame is guaranteed for five years. The parts subject to normal wear are guaranteed for two years. The battery is guaranteed for one year.
This warranty does not cover damage resulting from misuse, from a failure to respect the precautions for use, from accidents, from improper use or from commercial use. This bike is for personal use alone. It is not for professional use. This warranty does not cover damage resulting from repairs carried out by persons not authorized by Decathlon. Each electronic component is permanently closed. Opening one of these components (controller bag, battery, screen, motor) may have an adverse effect on people’s physical health or on the system itself. Opening or modifying a system component invalidates the bike warranty. The warranty does not cover cracked or broken screens where signs of a blow are visible.
Notes:
The battery bag is specifically designed for the battery. Do not use the bag for any other purpose. At temperatures of under 0°C (32 °F) and above 60°C (140 °F), the liquid crystal display may be temporarily affected. Theft warning: Remove the bag when the bike is unsupervised. Never throw your battery away. You must take it to a recycling centre or to your nearest Decathlon store. Be vigilant: do not spend too much time looking at the bike screen when riding.
You are strongly advised to wear a helmet. Wearing a reflective safety vest is subject to specific rules.
