2.2 Guarantee
Our liability for defects in the goods supplied has been defined in our terms and conditions of delivery. No liability will be admitted for damages which arise through failure to observe the operating and servicing instructions
or the conditions of use. Only impeccable products which possess the properties we claim for them leave our warehouse. When the indications given below in these operating and servicing instructions are complied with, proper operation of the equipment can thus be guaranteed.
2.3 Safety
These operating and servicing instructions contain fundamental indications which are to be observed in the course
of operation and for purposes of servicing and maintenance. It is therefore essential that these operating and
servicing instructions be read by the technical personnel of the operating party before commissioning. In addition,
the operator should draw up a set of operating instructions, based on the present operating instructions and
having regard to the given site-specific and company-specific features, and instruct the responsible technicians
accordingly before commencing any activity.
3. Warehousing / transport
The emergency luminaires should be stored in dry conditions where there is no danger of frost, if possible in the
supplied transport packaging (cardboard + pallet). The same conditions apply to the conveyance of the equipment
to the place where it is to be installed.

4. Installation
The supporting floor must be level and capable of sustaining the weight of the emergency luminaires. In addition,
the following conditions must be met at the place of installation:
• There must be no risk of the emergency luminaire being damaged by vehicles or other external impact.
• The luminaire must be clearly visible, if possible from all sides.
Release the screws of the luminaire cover on the side with a suitable screwdriver, and lift the cover off the luminaire housing. Then remove the two screws on the mounting plate of the emergency luminaire. After this you can
simply open the mounting plate upwards, together with the luminaire electronics. Break through the pre-punched
holes on the left and right sides of the luminaire housing, mount the screwed cable glands supplied and introduce
the power cables to the housing.
Decide which pre-punched fastening holes on the back of the housing you wish to use. Break through these
holes, and then mount the luminaire housing on the wall or ceiling, using suitable screws and plastic washers.
Connect the power cables as shown in the connection diagrams in section 5 below. Then you can swing back the
mounting plate, together with the luminaire electronics, back into place and fasten it with the two screws provided.
Clean the cover. The surface must be clean, dry and free from grease. Attach the supplied self-adhesive pictogram in the middle of the cover.
The cover should then be replaced, and fixed in place with the screws provided.
5. Electrical connections
As standard practice the luminaire will be delivered in maintained lighting operating mode (see section 5.2 below).
Special requirements of a design nature (such as Ex classification, corrosion protection and the like) should be
checked on site and complied with. Functional control and checking of all safety facilities and safety measures
should be carried out, and a documentary record kept. All the applicable regulations of the VDE (German Association of Electrical Engineers) and other higher authorities are to be observed and complied with.
5.1 Standby operating mode: connecting the L, N and PE leads
1) Standby operating mode
Luminaire in standby operating mode. For charging the battery, the lamp only has a continuous phase (L) connection to the power supply. When a power supply is present, the lamp is not operational. The lamp only goes
into operation when there is a power failure. In case of a power failure the luminaire automatically switches into
emergency lighting mode. Finally you need to connect the battery to the power supply provided (prepared plug
connection).

5.2 Maintained operating mode: connecting the L, L1, N and PE leads
2) Maintained operating mode
Luminaire in maintained operating mode. For charging the battery, the lamp has a continuous phase (L)
connection to the power supply. When there is an uninterrupted power supply, the bridge from L to L1 ensures
that the lamp remains in constant operation. In case of power failure, the luminaire automatically switches into
emergency lighting mode on battery power. Finally you need to connect the battery to the power supply provided
(prepared plug connection).
5.3 Maintained operating mode with external switch: connecting the L, L1, N and PE leads
3) Maintained operating mode with external switch
Luminaire in maintained operating mode with external switch. For charging the batteries, the luminaire has a continuous phase connection (L) to the power supply. In parallel to this, the luminaire can be switched on and off via
a second switched phase (L1), e.g. in dependence on the general lighting system. When the power supply is
continuous, the luminaire can be put into operation by means of the external switch. In case of a power failure,
the luminaire switches over automatically into emergency lighting mode with power from the battery, irrespective
of the current switch setting. Finally you need to connect the battery to the power supply provided (prepared plug
connection).
5.4 Switching for central power supply: connecting the L, L1, N and PE leads
The luminaire can also be connected in central power supply operating mode. To do this, you should connect the
luminaire as shown in section 5.2 above. Do not however connect the battery to the power supply provided (pre-
pared plug connection).
6. Operation
When connected to the power network, the emergency luminaire switches into operating mode. In operating
mode, the battery will be permanently charged. The correct operating mode will be indicated by the lighting up of
the green LED. When the luminaire is disconnected from the power network or in case of a failure of the external power supply, the emergency luminaire will switch into emergency operation and the green LED will be
extinguished.
7. Testing / faults
We recommend that you carry out the following test procedures with a view to checking the correct functionality
of the emergency luminaires:
7.1 Check every day that the green LED is permanently illuminated.
7.2 Once a month, carry out a test by pressing the test button on the outside of the housing. This will simulate a
power failure, and the emergency luminaire will switch over into emergency operation.

7.3 Once a year, an operating duration test of the battery should be simulated for the entire length of the running
period (3 hours).
7.4 The battery capacity will be affected by the ambient temperature. If the ambient temperature is permanently
higher than 45°C, you can expect to see a significant reduction in the operating duration. If the battery operating
life called for in your sector cannot be supplied, the battery must be changed.
7.5 As a rule, the battery will be recharged in 24 hours. If however the battery has been stored without charge for
an extended period, the charging time may be correspondingly longer.
7.6 The luminaire must be replaced if it does not start within 2 to 3 seconds, or if the ends show a black discoloration.
When disposing of defective equipment, please observe the applicable regulations for recycling and disposal.
Plastic components are designated as such by an appropriate symbol.
9. Inspection / servicing / maintenance
In inspecting, servicing and maintaining electrical operating equipment, please have regard to the applicable
regulations and prescribed intervals.
9.1 Cleaning
For any cleaning of the surface that may be necessary, please use the standard cleaning materials that are
generally available. On no account should organic solvents be used.
9.2 Replacing the battery
The battery has a service life of 4 years. To replace it, loosen the two screws below the lamp. Fix the new
battery in place and connect the plug connection on the luminaire. Please only use suitable batteries.
