Das nachfolgende Kapitel beschreibt die
einzelnen Arbeitsgänge für den
Montageablauf des CASAFLEX-Muffensets
für den Übergang von:

Procedure for
installation
The following chapter describes step by step
the procedure for installation of the
CASAFLEX connecting sleeve set for the
transition from:
CASAFLEX to CASAFLEX
or
CASAFLEX to
plastic sheathing pipe
The following elements are contained in
the CASAFLEX connecting sleeve set:
• 1 reducer sleeve
• 2 shrink hoses
• 1 foam bottle
• 2 stopper plugs
• 2 foam hole patches
• 1 strip emery paper
• 1 connector set to monitor leads
• 1 copy of these Installation

ensure that they are free of any soiling or
contamination.

weld the connections (1) to one another.
When connecting CASAFLEX to plastic
sheathing pipe (KMR), weld the weld-on end
of the plastic sheathing pipe to the
connection.
Carry out a leak test!

Schrumpfmuffe (3) über der Verbindungsstelle ausmitteln und zunächst eine Seite mit
weicher Propanflamme auf die CFL- oder
KMR-Mantelrohre herunterschrumpfen. Die
Länge der geschrumpften Enden sollte ca.
100 mmbetragen.
Nachdem die erste Seite geschrumpft wurde,
ca. 200 mm vom geschrumpften Muffenende
entfernt, eine Entlüftungsbohrung Ø 5 mm in
12 Uhr-Lage setzen, damit beim Schrumpfen
der zweiten Seite auftretende Gase
entweichen können.
Zweite Seite der Schrumpfmuffe auf das
Mantelrohr herunterschrumpfen.

Centre the reducer sleeve (3) on the place to
be connected and first of all shrink it down
onto the CFL or plastic sheathing pipe on one
side by means of a gentle propane flame. The
shrunk-on end should be c. 100 mm long.
After the first side has been shrunk on, drill a
ventilation hole Ø 5 mm in 12 o’clock position
at a distance of about 200 mm from the
shrunk-on end so that any gases generated
while shrinking on the second side can
escape.
Shrink the second side of the reducer sleeve
down onto the sheathing pipe.

Nach dem Abkühlen der Schrumpfschläuche
(4) die Schaumeinfüll- und Entlüftungsbohrungen mit einem Kronenbohrer Ø 24 mm
(z.B. Forstnerbohrer) in 12 Uhr-Lage
einbringen. Die bereits zum Schrumpfen der
Muffenenden an der Schrumpfmuffe
eingebrachte Entlüftungsbohrung (Ø 5 mm),
ist hierbei auf Ø 24 mm aufzubohren.
Es ist unbedingt darauf zu achten, dass die
Bohrungen nicht zu weit zur Muffenmitte
gesetzt werden, damit sich beim Ausschäumen der Muffe keine Lufteinschlüsse
(Lunker) in den Randzonen der Muffe bilden
können!

After allowing the shrink hoses (4) to cool, drill
the holes for filling the foam and for
ventilating the assembly in 12 o’clock position
using a Ø 24 mm crown drill (e.g. a Forstner
drilling bit). The ventilation hole which was
already drilled while shrinking the sleeve ends
onto the reducer sleeve should be widened
from Ø 5 mm to Ø 24 mm.
Always make absolutely sure that the holes
are not drilled too far from the centre of the
sleeve, in order to prevent the formation of
pockets of trapped air (cavities) in the
peripheral zones of the sleeve during foaming
out of the sleeve.

Direkt nachdem der PUR-Schaum aus der
Schaumkartusche in die Muffe eingebracht
wurde, sind die zwei mitgelieferten Einschlagstopfen (6) soweit in die Einfüll- und
Entlüftungsbohrung einzuschlagen, dass das
Entlüftungsloch des Einschlagstopfens noch
frei ist.
Sobald der PUR-Schaum aus den
Entlüftungsbohrungen der Einschlagstopfen
(6) austritt, die Stopfen soweit einschlagen,
dass sie mit der Oberkante der
Schrumpfmuffe abschließen.
Haltelaschen der Einschlagstopfen (6)
abschneiden.
Ausgetretene Schaumreste von der
Muffenoberfläche entfernen.
Muffenoberfläche in dem Bereich, in dem die
Verschlusslaschen (Patch) geschrumpft
werden, mit Ethanol/Spiritus (min. 94%)
entfetten und anschliessend mit
Schmirgelleinen (Korngrösse 40-60)
aufrauhen.

Directly after filling the PUR foam from the
foam bottle into the sleeve, the two stopper
plugs (6) delivered together with the set
should be hammered far enough into the
filling and ventilation holes so that the
ventilation hole of the stopper plug is still
open.
As soon as PUR foam begins to exude from
the ventilation holes of the stopper plugs (6),
hammer them further in until they are flush
with the upper edge of the reducer sleeve.
Cut the securing strap of the stopper
plugs (6).
Remove any foam which has leaked out from
the surface of the sleeve.
Clean off any grease from the surface of the
sleeve in the vicinity of the area where the
patch is to be shrunk on using ethanol or
spirit (min. 94%) and then roughen the area
using emery paper (grain 40-60).

Schaumlochverschluss (Patch)

Minimum eine halbe Stunde nach dem
Ausschäumen der Muffe werden die
Schaumlochverschlüsse (Patch) über die
Einschlagstopfen geschrumpft.
Der Patch wird zunächst, mit der Heissschmelzkleberseite nach oben, auf eine
feuerfeste Unterlage gelegt und mit einer
weichen Propanflamme auf mindestens 65 °C
aufgewärmt.
Mit wärmebeständigen Handschuhen wird
nun der Patch, mit der Heissschmelzkleberseite nach unten, mittig über dem
Einschlagstopfen aufgesetzt und soweit
erwärmt, bis der Heissschmelzkleber
rundführend seitlich austritt und die
Farbindikatoren auf dem Patch nahezu nicht
mehr sichtbar sind.
Den Patch mit der Handfläche glätten und
evtl. Lufteinschlüsse herausdrücken.
Die Montage des Patch ist beendet, wenn er
eng an der Muffe anliegt und die Randzone
des Patch rundführend im ausgetretenen
Heissschmelzkleber liegt.

Wait a minimum of half an hour after foaming
out the sleeve before shrinking on the foam
hole patches over the stopper plugs.
First of all place the patch with the heatsealing adhesive side uppermost on a
fireproof surface and heat it up to at least
65 °C with a gentle propane flame.
Now, wearing heat-insulated gloves, place the
patch with the heat-sealing adhesive side
underneath centrally over the stopper plug
and heat until the heat sealing adhesive
begins to exude all around at the sides and
the colour indicators on the patch are almost
no longer visible.
Smooth the patch down with the hand and
press out any trapped air which may have
formed under it.
The patch has been successfully installed
when it lies tightly over the sleeve and the
edges of the patch all around its
circumference are within the area covered by
the exuded heat sealing adhesive.
