General
BreezeCOM is pleased to announce the release of BreezeNET Version 4.4. This version adds the following features to the BreezeNET product line: Authentication and power save. Please find below a description of these new features, and others that are specific for the BreezeNET units and the SA-PCR.
An updated BreezeVIEW management application is now available.
Authentication
Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) authentication algorithm protects authorized Wireless LAN users against eavesdropping and access by un-authorized users. When enabled in an AP-
10, only a station
adapter that has the privacy option implemented and an identical encryption key will be able to associate to the access point. Authentication has been implemented as defined in the 802.11
This feature is an orderable option. You can either order a BreezeNET unit (including SA-PCR) with the privacy option factory installed, or you can upgrade to add the Privacy feature to existing units, it is also possible to return the units to BreezeCOM for upgrading.
When ordering new u
nits or upgrading existing ones please use the following catalog numbers for the
Privacy option:
811104 For AP-10, WB-10, SA-40 and SA-10 811105 For SA-PCR
The authentication parameters are configurable using the monitor or a SNMP management station.
Power Save
Power Save mode is primarily intended for the SA-PCR, usually installed on laptops or handheld computers, in order to conserve battery energy. The Power Save mode allows the SA-PCR to go into a Doze state for a predefined period that will reduce the PCMCIA power consumption. The settings for this option are made per cell and per station. Power Save needs to be configured in both the APĀ10 and the SA-PCR. Performance of the whole cell will be effected even if only the AP and one station are set to Power Save Mode.
Power Save Mode has been implemented as defined in the 802.11 standard. The power save in the AP also works with Symbol's station adapter.
