Inserting a SIM card

Your Aquaris X5 Plus is a dual SIM smartphone which accepts two nano-SIM cards in the same slot.
You can access the SIM tray from the exterior of the device. Do not attempt to remove the battery cover.
You will find the SIM key inside the box containing your device. Make sure the device is switched off first, then insert it into the SIM slot and extract the tray. Place your nano-SIM card into the tray. Make sure it is in the correct position by using the notch on the corner to guide you (see image). Insert the tray into the slot with the nano-SIM inside it.
Your Aquaris X5 Plus only accepts nano-SIM cards.

Inserting and Removing the microSD Card

The internal memory of your Aquaris X5 Plus can be expanded to 256 GB using a microSD card.
To insert a microSD card, follow these steps:
Insert the point of the SIM key into the orifice of the microSD slot.
Extract the tray and insert the microSD card, making sure the metal pins are at the bottom and facing towards the back of the device (see image).
To remove the microSD card, follow the same steps but in reverse order, keeping in mind the following recommendations:
a. For greater security, we recommend switching the device off before removing the
microSD card.
b. If you remove the microSD with the device on, perform a “secure removal” of the card first
to avoid damaging it. This action might mean that you lose some data. To do this, select the menu options Settings > Storage and USB > SD Card >
> Settings > Eject.
c. Make sure you reinsert the tray to prevent dust or dirt from entering the device.

Managing microSD Card and USB drives

You can install a microSD card or use USB drives (pendrive or compatible external hard disk connected with an OTG adapter) to cover your storage medium requirements.
When you insert a new microSD or a new device connected with an OTG adapter to your smartphone, a message displays on the notification bar informing you that it is available together with the Eject and Configure options. If you select Configure, a configuration wizard opens so that you can choose whether you want to use your memory as portable or internal storage.
Portable storage: Its use is limited to the microSD/external USB device. You cannot
·
install apps on it and it is only an auxiliary storage medium to the internal memory of your smartphone on which you can save your photos, videos, or some external app data (if supported) on it.
· Internal storage: Replaces nearly all the internal memory of your smartphone,
enabling you to install apps on it (if supported) and save all the data you create (photos, videos, downloads, etc). The card or USB device is formatted and encrypted (for security purposes). This means that this microSD/USB device cannot be used on another device without reformatting it.
You can choose whether to store your multimedia files on your phone´s internal memory or directly onto the external microSD card or external USB device. Remember that any content stored on the MicroSD/USB will not be available when the card is removed and any apps installed on this medium will no longer function.
To make best use of a microSD/USB, we would recommend that you choose a high-capacity one so that you do not run out of space, or that the type of microSD card is high (“Class 10” is recommended) to minimise the impact on the performance of the device.

Getting Started
You can change the configuration of the microSD/USB device at any moment by selecting menu options Settings > Storage and USB > SD Card or USB Device >
> Settings and select Format as Internal (should it be set as “Portable”) or Format as Portable (should it be set as “Internal”).
If you configure the microSD/USB so that you can save multimedia files and apps on it, when you connect your device to a computer with MTP, the internal storage of the device cannot be viewed and you can only access the microSD/USB as Internal Storage. However, if the multimedia files are saved on internal storage instead of on the microSD, when you connect the device to a computer with MTP, you will only be able to view the Internal Storage .
Remember that when formatting the microSD card or USB device with either option you will lose all the data stored on it.

Charging the Device and Transferring Files

Your smartphone contains a rechargeable (non-removable) 3200 mAh battery, which is charged via the micro-USB port located at the bottom of the device. A USB (type A) to microUSB (type A) cable is provided with the phone for charging the battery. To charge it, follow these simple steps:
A) Using a mains adapter (not included):
1. Plug the USB cable into the mains adapter.
2. Connect the mains adapter to any standard plug socket (220 V/50 Hz).
3. Connect the other end of the cable to the micro-USB port on your smartphone.
B) Using a laptop or desktop computer:
1. Connect the USB cable to a compatible USB port on your computer.
2. Connect the other end of the cable to the micro-USB port on your smartphone.
The battery in your Aquaris X5 Plus is non-removable. If it is removed by anyone other than our Technical Support staff, your device could be damaged and the Warranty invalidated.
Allowing the battery to charge fully (2h 50 min) is recommended when you charge it for the first time as this will help calibrate the battery meter. Bear in mind that some batteries perform better after completing a number of charge/discharge cycles.
The time required to charge your device may vary slightly depending on whether it is charged via the mains adapter or via a computer USB port.
For optimum charging, we recommend using a 5 V 1 A charger with your device.

If you connect your smartphone to a computer using the USB cable, you can also transfer files between the two devices (to/from the internal memory, or the microSD card, if in use). This will allow you to use, copy or store images, videos, music, text documents, etc. on one or both devices.
You can select the file transfer mode when you connect your Aquaris X5 Plus to a computer. When you connect it, press the Touch for other USB options message to see the USB
computer connection menu. You can connect as a Media device (MTP), Camera (PTP) or Charging, which allows data connections and file transfers between the computer and the
device to be eliminated in order to improve the charging speed. Or you can connect as MIDI, allowing you to connect musical instruments or other devices with MIDI inputs such as keyboards for example.
There are a number of ways to transfer files. The steps below will show you how to transfer them via USB:
Connect your Aquaris X5 Plus to a computer using the micro-USB to USB cable provided.
1.
Insert the micro-USB connector into the corresponding micro-USB port on the device and the generic USB connector into the corresponding USB port on the computer.
Select and copy the desired files onto your smartphone or computer. Remember that you
2.
can store them on either the phone´s internal memory or on the microSD card, if you are using one.
To transfer files in MTP or PTP mode from your mobile (and/or MicroSD card) to a computer running Mac OS and vice versa, you will need to download and install the free Android File Transfer app to your computer: www.android.com/filetransfer/.
Do not disconnect the cable while files are being transferred.
