Subject: Potentially defective DC power wiring harness
Disposition: On all ESP-88 and ESP-88C chassis returned for service that were built before

November 1st, 2008 (DOM 8306), replace the DC power wiring harness with the upgraded part.
Symptom: The chassis S tatus LED is lit red and audio cannot be controlled by the CC16 or CC64 controller.

Audio cards may not be detected during a chassis scan using the ControlSpace Designer software.

Reason: Intermittent / degraded connection on the +5Vdc pin of the DC power wiring harness.
Solution: Replace the DC power supply wiring harness with an upgraded part using the following procedure.

1. Unplug the AC mains cable to the chassis.

2. Remove the chassis top cover.

3. Verify that the chassis is using the original wiring harness.

The original wiring harnesses for both the IPD and the Astec
power supplies use a translucent body connector at the DC
power supply end. The upgraded harnesses use a solid white
connector. The examples shown at right are for units with the
IPD supply. If the wiring harness connector has a translucent
plastic body , unplug it from the power supply and motherboard
and discard it.
4a. If the unit has an IPD power supply ,
install the upgraded harness Bose part
number 318938-001S. Perform the DC
voltage adjustment procedure listed in
the service manual, reference number
286448-SM.
4b. If the unit has an Astec power supply,
install the upgraded harness Bose part
number 318935-001S. Perform the DC
voltage adjustment procedure listed in
the service manual, reference number
313419-SM.

Note: The wiring harnesses for the IPD and
Astec supplies are NOT interchangeable.
They have different wiring connections. Be
sure to use the correct harness for your chassis.
