NATURAL GAS (NG) TO PROPANE (LP) GAS
SNLPKITF
This kit is used to convert only SGS and SGSX sealed STAR burner cooktops from natural gas operation to propane gas operation. This kit cannot be used to convert other Thermador model sealed burner cooktops, ranges or any other brand of cooktops.
SAVE THE NATURAL GAS PARTS IN CASE CONVERSION FROM
LP BACK TO NATURAL GAS IS DESIRED. AN ADDITIONAL LP TO
NATURAL GAS CONVERSION KIT WILL ALSO BE REQUIRED.

Tools Required:
7 mm Socket Driver w/ 3” minimum extension 20 mm Socket Flat-head Screwdriver (small)
The following must be met when testing supply piping system:
a) The appliance and its individual shutoff valve must be disconnected from the gas supply piping system at test pressures in excess of 1/2 psig (3.5 kPa).
b) The appliance must be isolated from the gas supply piping system by closing its individual manual shut-off valve during any pressure testing of the gas supply piping system at test pressures equal to or less than 1/2 psig (3.5 kPa).

CAUTION:
1. TURN OFF GAS AND ELECTRICITY
If the cooktop is installed in the counter, 1) shut off the gas valve to the cooktop, and 2) remove cooktop power cord from electrical outlet or turn breaker off at breaker box and 3) turn all control knobs to the “OFF” position.
2. CONVERT PRESSURE REGULATOR
FROM 6” W.C. TO 10” W.C.
The gas pressure regulator supplied with the unit is convertible from natural gas to propane (LP) gas. To operate correctly on propane gas, the pressure regulator must be converted as follows: (See Figure 1.)
a) REMOVE THE HEXAGON CAP from the top of the regulator.
b) REMOVE THE PLASTIC BUTTON IN THE CAP
AND TURN IT OVER, pressing it rmly in place so
that the letters “LP” can now be seen upright in the stem.

c) REPLACE THE CAP and button assembly into
the top of the regulator sealing it rmly. Make
certain spring is still in place.
d) Finally, INSTALL THE FOIL CONVERSION STICKER next to the rating plate, located on the bottom corner of the rough-in-box. (Note: Arrow on back part of regulator needs to
point in the direction of gas ow to the cooktop.)
3. REPLACE MAIN ORIFICES and
VENTURIS
REMOVE GRATES, BURNER CAPS, BURNER BASES AND VENTURI NUTS. Maintop does not require removal.
REMOVE MAIN ORIFICES. Note: The Thermador Cooktop models contain
7mm orices. A method of retaining main orices
in the socket during extraction and insertion is to apply a piece of foam tape to the socket (see Figure 3). Insert the socket driver with 3” minimum extension
into the jet holders to remove existing orices, as
shown in Figure 4.
3
ASSEMBLE NEW ORIFICES in place on the cooktop exactly as layed out in the orifice package card as shown in Figure 5. Place the new orifices into the socket one at a time (the tape will keep them in place), then insert each orifice into its threaded hole in jet holders. USE LOW TORQUE.

4. CONVERTING VALVES FOR PROPANE GAS
The bypass jet on each valve must be adjusted. Your cooktop may come with either hollow or solid valve shafts. Determine the bypass screw location accordingly. See figure 7. a) Place all knobs to “Off” position. b) Remove knobs. c) Locate hole on cover which is aligned to bypass screws. See Fig. 8. d) Insert screwdriver in hole and turn bypass screw clockwise until “bottomed out”. USE LOW TORQUE. e) Replace knobs.
