Watersoftening system
Your dishwasher requires soft water to ensure proper washing results and
is equipped with an internal water softening system. However, if you have
a household water softening system, you will not need to use the internal
system provided.
The amount of salt required depends on the degree of hardness of your tap
water (see table at right for more information).
For the water softening system to function properly, it will need to use
dishwasher water softener salt. The amount of salt dispensed can be set from
"H:O0" to "H:07". Salt is not required at H:O0 (this is the default factory
setting =see table at right).
, Open the door (for hidden controls only).
, Turn the unit on using the [ON/OFF] button.
, Hold down the "A" button (see page 4) and press [START] until the
display indicates "H:O0".
, Release both buttons.
, Press the "B" button to select the desired setting.
, Save the selected setting by pressing [START].
, Close the door (for hidden controls only).

in your dishwasher.
Your dishwasher uses less water, therefore you need to use less detergent.
With soft water, 1 tablespoon (15ml) of detergent will clean most loads. The
detergent dispenser cup has lines that measure detergent to 1 tablespoon
(15ml) and 1.75 tablespoons (25ml). 3 tablespoons (45ml) of detergent will
completely fill the detergent dispenser cup.
NOTE:Ifyou do not know the hardness ofyour water supply, use 15ml of detergent.
Increase the amount of detergent, if necessary, to the least amount required to get
your dishware and kitchenware clean.
To Close:
Place finger as shown in figure at right, slide forward, then press down firmly
until you hear it click into place.

Recommended
Aluminum: Colored anodized aluminum may fade over time. Minerals in your water may cause the aluminum to darken
or spot. This can usually be removed by using a soap-filled steel wool pad.
China, Crystal, Stoneware: Some hand-painted pieces may discolor, fade, or spot. Hand-wash these pieces. Position
fragile glassware so that it will not topple over or contact other pieces during the wash cycle.
Glass: Milk glasses may yellow.
Non-Stick Coatings: Apply a light coating of vegetable oil to non-stick surfaces after drying.
Plastics: Make sure the piece is dishwasher safe.
Stainless Steel, Sterling Silver, and Silver Plate: Place these pieces so that they do not contact dissimilar metals.
Not Recommended
Acrylic: Crazing (small cracks throughout the acrylic) may occur.
Adhesive-Joined Pieces: Adhesives that join materials such as plastic, wood, bone, steel copper, tin, etc. may loosen.
Bone-Handled UtensUs: Handles may separate.
iron: Iron will rust. Hand-wash and dry immediately.
Non-Dishware Items: Your dishwasher is intended for use in cleaning ONLYstandard household dishware and kitchenware.
Pewter, Brass, Bronze: These materials will tarnish. Hand-wash and dry immediately.
Tin: Tin will rust. Hand-wash and dry immediately.
Wood: Wooden bowls, wooden utensils, and wood-handled utensils can crack, warp, and lose their finish.
Do not pre-wash items having loosely-attached soiling. Remove large food particles, bones, seeds, toothpicks, and ex-
cessive grease. Items having burned-on, baked-on or starchy soils may require pre-treatment.
Load only dishwasher-safe items into the dishwasher. Load dishes in the dishwasher racks so the insides of bowls, pots,
and pans are facing downward. Avoid nesting and contact points between dishes. Separate items of dissimilar metals.

A regular inspection and maintenance of your machine will help to prevent faults.
This saves time and prevents problems.
Overall condition of the machine
Check spray arm for grease and limescale deposits.
If you find such deposits:
o Fill detergent dispenser with detergent.
o Start the appliance without utensils in the cycle with the highest rinsing
temperature (see page 13 for cycle temperatures).
o Clean the appliance with detergents/appliance cleaners which are particularly
suitable for use with dishwashers.
o Regularly clean door seal with a damp cloth.
Never use asteam cleaner to clean your dishwasher. The manufacturer is not liable
for any consequential damage.
Regularly wipe the front of the appliance with a damp cloth; water and a little liquid
soap are adequate. Do not use sponges with a rough surface or abrasive deter-
gents, as these could scratch the surfaces.
Stainless steel appliances: To prevent corrosion, avoid using sponge cloths.

Filters
The filter system consists of a coarse filter, a fiat fine filter and a microfilter.
The filters keep large foreign objects in the rinsing water away from the pump.
Foreign objects may occasionally block the filters.
Check the filters for residue by:
o Unscrew filter cylinder as illustrated at top right and take out filter system.
o Remove any residue and clean filters under running water.
o Reinstall filter system in reverse sequence and ensure that the arrow marks are
opposite each other after closing the filter system.
Spray arms
Limescale and contaminants in the rinsing water may block nozzles and bearings
on the spray arms.
Check outlet nozzles on the spray arms for blockages by:
o Unscrew the upper spray arm.
o Remove the lower spray arm.

Wastewater pump
Large food remnants in the rinsing water not retained by the filters may
block the waste water pump. The rinsing water does not get pumped out
and covers the filter.
In this case:
o Disconnect the appliance from the power supply.
o Remove the filters.
o Scoop out water, use a sponge if required.
o Using a spoon, pry off pump cover (as illustrated) until it clicks, then grip
the cover by the lug and first pull it upward until it resists and then pull
it out forward.
o Check inner compartment and remove any foreign objects.
o Place cover in the original position, press down and engage.
o Reinstall filters.
