When properly used and cared for, your new appliance has been designed to be safe and reliable. Read all instructions carefully before use. These precautions will reduce the risk of burns, electric shock, fire and injury to persons. When using kitchen appliances, basic safety precautions must be followed, including those in the following pages.
Proper Installation and Maintenance
Have the installer show you the location of the circuit breaker or fuse. Mark it for easy reference.

Gas Safety

Warning:

NEVER cover any slots, holes or passages in the oven or cover an entire rack with aluminum foil. Doing so blocks air flow
through the oven and may cause carbon monoxide poisoning. Aluminum foil linings may also trap heat, causing a fire hazard.

Do not store or use combustible materials, gasoline or other flammable vapors and liquids in the vicinity of this or any other appliance.
• WHAT TO DO IF YOU SMELL GAS:
Do not try to light any appliance.
Do not touch any electrical switch.
Do not use any phone in your building.
Immediately call your gas supplier from a neighbor’s phone. Follow the gas supplier’s instructions.
If you cannot reach your gas supplier, call fire department.
Installation and service must be performed by a qualified installer, authorized service agency or the gas supplier.

Fire Safety
Do not use aluminum foil or protective liners to line any part of the appliance, especially the oven bottom. Installing these liners may result in risk of electric shock or fire.
If materials inside an oven should ignite, keep door closed. Turn off the appliance and disconnect the circuit at the circuit breaker box.
Use this appliance only for its intended purpose as described in this manual. For example, never use the appliance for warming or heating the room. Never use the appliance for storage.
Always have a working smoke detector near the kitchen.
Have the installer show you where the gas shut-off valve is located.
If a burner goes out and gas escapes, open windows and doors. Wait until gas dissipates before using the appliance.
If you smell gas, your installer has not done a proper job of checking for leaks. If the connections are not perfectly tight, you can have a small leak and, therefore, a faint smell. Finding a gas leak is not a "do-it-yourself" procedure. Some leaks can only be found with the burner control in the ON position and this must be done by a qualified service technician.
In the event that personal clothing or hair catches fire, drop and roll immediately to extinguish flames.
Have an appropriate fire extinguisher available, nearby, highly visible and easily accessible near the oven.
Smother flames from food fires other than grease fires with baking soda. Never use water on cooking fires.
Air curtain or other overhead range hoods, which operate by blowing a downward air flow onto a range, shall not be used in conjunction with gas ranges other than when the hood and range have been designed, tested and listed by an independent test laboratory for use in combination with each other.

TO REDUCE THE RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY IN THE EVENT OF A GREASE FIRE, OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING:
SMOTHER FLAMES with a close-fitting lid, cookie sheet, or metal tray, then turn off the burner. EXERCISE CAUTION TO PREVENT BURNS. If the flames do not go out immediately, EVACUATE AND CALL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT.
NEVER PICK UP A FLAMING PAN—You may be burned.
DO NOT USE WATER, including wet rags or towels—a violent steam explosion will result.
Use an extinguisher ONLY if:
1) You know you have a CLASS ABC
extinguisher and you already know how to operate it.
2) The fire is small and contained in the
area where it started.
3) The fire department is being called.
4) You can fight the fire with your back to
an exit.
Burn Prevention
DO NOT TOUCH HEATING ELEMENTS OR INTERIOR SURFACES OF OVEN — Heating elements may be hot even though they are dark in color. Interior surfaces of an oven become hot enough to cause burns. During and after use, do not touch, or let clothing, potholders, or other flammable materials contact heating elements or interior surfaces of oven until they have had sufficient time to cool. Other surfaces of the appliance may become hot enough to cause burns. Among these surfaces are oven vent openings, surfaces near these openings and oven doors.
Always place oven racks in desired location while oven is cool. If a rack must be moved while oven is hot, do not let potholder contact the heating elements.
Always use dry potholders. Moist or damp potholders on hot surfaces may result in burns from steam. Do not let potholder touch hot heating elements. Do not use a towel or other bulky cloth.
Secure all loose garments, etc. before beginning. Tie long hair so that it does not hang loose, and do not wear loose fitting clothing or hanging garments, such as ties, scarves, jewelry, or dangling sleeves.
Child Safety
When children become old enough to use the appliance, it is the legal responsibility of the parents or legal guardians to ensure that they are instructed in safe operation of the appliance by qualified persons.
Do not allow anyone to climb, stand, lean, sit, or hang on any part of an appliance, especially a door, warming drawer or storage drawer. This can damage the appliance, and the unit may tip over, potentially causing severe injury.
Do not allow children to use this appliance unless closely supervised by an adult. Children and pets should not be left alone or unattended in the area where the appliance is in use. They should never be allowed to play in its vicinity, whether or not the appliance is in use.

CAUTION:

Items of interest to children should not be stored in an appliance, in cabinets above an appliance or on the backsplash. Children climbing on an appliance to reach items could be seriously injured.
Cleaning Safety
Exercise caution when opening the appliance. Standing to the side, open the door slowly and slightly to let hot air and/ or steam escape. Keep your face clear of the opening and make sure there are no children or pets near the unit. After the release of hot air and/or steam, proceed with your
cooking. Keep doors shut unless necessary for cooking or cleaning purposes. Do not leave open doors unattended.
Do not heat or warm unopened food containers. Build-up of pressure may cause the container to burst and cause injury.
Use caution when cooking foods with high alcohol content (e.g. rum, brandy, bourbon) in the oven. Alcohol evaporates at high temperatures. There is a risk of burning as the alcohol

Do not clean the appliance while it is still hot. Some cleaners produce noxious fumes when applied to a hot surface. Wet cloths or sponges can cause burns from steam.
IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE: The California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act requires the Governor of California to publish a list of substances known to the state to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm, and requires businesses to warn customers of potential exposure to such substances.
The burning of gas cooking fuel and the elimination of soil during self-cleaning can generate some by-products which are on the list. To minimize exposure to these substances,
always operate this unit according to the instructions contained in this booklet and provide good ventilation.
When self-cleaning, confirm that the door locks and will not open. If the door does not lock, stop self clean operation and contact service.
Wipe out excessive spillage before self-cleaning the oven.
Birds have very sensitive respiratory systems. Keep pet birds out of the kitchen or other rooms where kitchen fumes could reach them. During self-clean, fumes are released that may be harmful to birds. Other kitchen fumes such as overheating margarines and cooking oils may also be harmful.
Keep oven free from grease build up.
Cookware Safety
Do not place food directly on oven bottom.
Follow the manufacturer's directions when using cooking or roasting bags.
Do not clean parts or accessories in the self-clean oven.
Conversion to Liquified Petroleum Gas

Warning:

Personal injury or death from electrical shock may occur if the range is not installed by a qualified installer or electrician.

WARNING:

Avoid fire hazard or electrical shock. Do not use an adapter plug, an extension cord, or remove grounding prong from electrical power cord. Failure to follow this warning can cause serious injury, fire or death.
This appliance is equipped with a 3-prong grounding plug for your protection against shock hazard and should be plugged directly into a properly grounded receptacle. DO NOT cut or remove the grounding prong from this plug.
For personal safety, the range must be properly grounded. For maximum safety, the power cord must be plugged into an electrical outlet that is correctly polarized and properly grounded.
If a 2-prong wall receptacle is the only available outlet, it is the personal responsibility of the consumer to have it replaced with a properly grounded 3-prong wall receptacle installed by a qualified electrician.
Any additions, changes or conversions required in order for this appliance to satisfactorily meet the application needs must be made by a qualified technician.
If your gas range model is designed to allow for L.P. conversion, the L.P. conversion kit may be obtained from your local appliance dealer and should be installed by a qualified service technician. Before installing the kit be sure to follow the L.P. Installation Instructions carefully.

Oven Vent
The oven vent is located under the center of the control panel. When the oven is on, warm air passes through this
vent. This venting is necessary for proper air circulation in the oven and good baking results. Do not block the oven vent since it is important for air circulation. It is normal to see steam escaping from the vent, and condensation may collect in this area. This area may be warm when the oven is in use.

Convection Fan (some models)

The convection fan operates during the convection mode. When the oven is operating in a convection mode, the fan turns off automatically when the door is opened. The convection fan will take 6 minutes to begin rotating once the convection switch has been turned on.

Oven Bottom

The oven bottom conceals the lower heating burner. As a result the burner is protected from damage and spills.

Cooktops

300 Series
Flat Oven Rack This rack can be used for
all cooking needs. Do not clean in the self-clean oven. Your oven comes with two flat oven racks.

CAUTION:

To avoid burns, place oven racks in desired positions before turning oven on. Always use oven mitts when the oven is warm. If a rack must be moved while the oven is hot, do not let oven mitts contact hot heating elements.
Use caution when removing oven racks from the lowest rack position to avoid contact with the hot oven door.
To avoid possible injury or damage to the appliance, ensure racks are installed exactly per installation instructions and not backwards or upside down.
500 Series
REMOVE ALL OVEN RACKS and parts before starting a self-clean cycle. If the
oven racks are left in the oven and remain in the oven cavity for a self-clean cycle, the glide ability of the oven rack system will be damaged and will cause all oven racks to loose their shiny finish and or turn blue. Remove ALL oven racks and clean according to instructions provided in the Care & Cleaning section of this manual.
Removing and Replacing Oven Racks
To remove, pull the rack forward until it stops. Lift up front
of rack and slide out. To replace, fit the rack onto the guides on the oven walls. Tilt the front of the rack upward and slide the rack back into place.

Before Using the Oven for the
Use to select the variable broil feature.

Convection is similar to Bake. Heat comes from the lower burner and the heat is circulated by a convection fan (some models).
Use with the feature or function pads to set oven temperature, bake time, start time (when programming an automatic start time), setting or adjusting the clock and minute timer.
First Time
Oven must be properly installed by a qualified technician before use.
Remove all packing materials from inside and outside the oven.
While cool, wipe with a clean, damp cloth and dry.
There may be a slight odor during first uses; this is normal and will disappear.
Optimum cooking results depend on proper cookware being used.
Read and understand all safety precautions and Use and Care Manual information prior to operating.
Use to clear any feature previously entered except the time of day and minute timer. Press Clear/Off to stop cooking.

Getting the Most Out of Your Appliance

General Tips

Pan Placement

Baking results are better if pans are placed in the center of the oven. If baking more than one pan on a rack, allow at least 1" to 1 ½" of air space around the pan. When baking four cake layers at the same time, stagger pans on two racks so that one pan is not directly above the other. See Baking Layer Cakes with 1 or 2 racks.

Baking Pans and Dishes

Glass baking dishes absorb heat. Follow manufacturers' recommendations.
For tender, light, golden brown crusts, use light, shiny metal bakeware.
Dark, rough or dull pans (nonstick or anodized) will absorb heat and result in a browner, crisper crust. Some manufacturers recommend reducing the temperature 25 ºF when using this type of pan. Follow manufacturers' recommendations.
Insulated cookie sheets or bakeware may increase the length of cooking time.
Do not set any heavy objects on the open oven door.
Do not keep the empty bakeware in the oven during cooking as this changes cooking performance.

Aluminum Foil

Do not use aluminum foil or protective liners to line any part of the appliance, especially the oven bottom. Installing these liners may result in risk of electric shock or fire.

Preheating the Oven

Place oven racks in desired position before heating the oven.
Preheat the oven in all cooking modes.
Allow oven to preheat while preparing recipe ingredients or food items.
Setting a higher temperature does not shorten preheat time.
Once oven is preheated, place food in the oven as quickly as possible to minimize the loss of heat and reduction of oven temperature.

Adjusting the Oven Temperature

Your appliance has been factory calibrated and tested to ensure an accurate baking temperature. For the first frew uses, follow your recipe times and temperature recommendations carefully. If you think that the oven is cooking too hot or too cool for your recipe times, you can adjust the control so that the oven cooks hotter or cooler than the temperature displayed.
To adjust oven temperature:
1. Press “BAKE”.
2. Set the temperature to 550°F (287°C) by pressing and
holding the “+”.
3. Within 2 seconds, press and hold “BAKE” until the 2 digit display appears. Release “BAKE” . The display now indicates the amount of degrees offset between the original factory temperature setting and the current temperature setting. If the oven control has the original factory calibration, the display will read "0".
4. The temperature can now be adjusted up or down 35°F (19°C), in 5°F steps by pressing and holding the “+” or “-”. Adjust until the desired amount of offset appears in the display. When lowering the oven temperature, a minus sign (-) will appear before the number to indicate that the oven will be cooler by the displayed amount of degrees.
5. When you have made the desired adjustment, press “Clear/Off” to go back to the time of day display.

For Best Results

Open the door as briefly as possible to avoid temperature reduction.
Use the interior oven light to view the food through the oven window rather than opening the door frequently.
Use the Timer to keep track of cooking times.

High Altitude Baking

When cooking at high altitudes, recipes and cooking times will vary.
For accurate information, write the Extension Service, Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado
80521. There may be a cost for the guides. Specify which high altitude food preparation guide you prefer: general information, cakes, cookies, breads, etc.

Condensation

It is normal for certain amount of moisture to evaporate from the food during any cooking process. The amount depends on the moisture content of the food. The moisture may condense on any surface cooler than the inside of the oven, such as the control panel.

Operating the Oven Light

The interior oven light will automatically turn ON when the oven door is opened.
Press “Oven Light” to turn the interior oven light ON and OFF whenever the oven door is closed.
The interior oven light is located at the upper left rear wall of the oven interior and is covered with a glass shield held by a wire holder. The glass shield must be in place whenever the oven is in use.
To change the interior oven light, see Replacing an Oven Light in the Maintenance section.

Operation

BAKE

About the Appliance

Behind the classic design is modern and perfected technology that ensures a high degree of efficiency. For instance, we have further improved the distribution of heat in the oven by using newly designed elements. The advantage of this results in shorter cooking times, perfect results and lower energy costs.
This oven is very convenient and easy to operate, even with the wide variety of options. The cooking mode and temperature can be adjusted with very little effort. The additional functions such as Cook Time can be set at the touch of a button in just a few seconds, and the display always presents the most important information while you are cooking.

Operating the Oven

Baking layer cakes with 1 or 2 oven racks

Bake
Bake is cooking with dry, heated air. The lower burner cycles to maintain the oven temperature.
The Bake mode can be used to prepare a variety of food items, from pastries to casseroles. Refer to recipe or package directions for oven temperature and baking time.
Tips
Preheat the oven if the recipe recommends it.
Baking time will vary with the size, shape and finish of the bakeware. Dark metal pans or nonstick coatings will cook faster with darker results. Insulated bakeware will lengthen the cook time for most foods.
For best results, bake food on a single rack with at least 1-1 walls.
Eliminate heat loss from the oven by using the window to periodically check food for doneness instead of opening the door.

For best results when baking cakes using 2 oven racks, place bakeware on rack positions 2 & 5 (See Fig. 2). For best results when using a single oven flat rack, place bakeware on rack positions 2 or 3 (See Fig. 1).

If multiple racks are necessary, use a maximum of 2 racks. For cakes and cookies use rack positions 2 and 5. Stagger cake pans so that one is not directly above the other (see graphic above). See "Pan Placement" under "General Tips" for more info. You may also consider using a convection mode.
The oven can be programmed to bake at any temperature from 170°F to 550°F (77°C to 287°C). The factory preset automatic bake temperature is 350°F (177°C).
To set bake
1. Press “BAKE”. "— — —" appears in the display.
2. Within 5 seconds, press the “+” or “-”. The display will show "350°F (177°C)." By pressing and holding the “+” or “-”, the temperature can then be adjusted in 5°F increments (1°C if the control is set to display Celsius).
3. As soon as the “+” or “-” pad is released, the oven will begin heating to the selected temperature. When the displayed temperature reaches the desired baking temperature, the preheat indicator light will turn OFF and the control will beep 3 times.
4. To cancel bake, press “Clear/Off”.
To change the oven temperature after bake has started:
1. Press “BAKE”. Visually check the bake temperature and that it needs to be changed.
2. Press the “+” or “-” pad to increase or decrease the set temperature to the desired new oven temperature.

Setting timed bake and delayed timed bake features

The “BAKE” and “START TIME” pads operate the features that will turn the oven ON and OFF at the times you select in advance. The oven can be programmed to start immediately and shut off automatically (timed bake) or to begin baking at a later time with a delayed start time (delayed timed bake).

Use caution with the timed bake and delayed timed bake features. Foods that can easily spoil such as milk, eggs, fish, meat or poultry, should be chilled in the refrigerator first. Even when chilled, they should not stand in the oven for more than 1 hour before cooking begins, and should be removed promptly when cooking is completed.

Broil

BROIL
Broil uses intense heat from the
upper burner.
The Broil mode is best suited for cooking thin, tender cuts of meat (1" or less), poultry and fish. It can also be used to brown breads and casseroles. Always broil with the door closed.
The benefits of broiling include:
Fast and efficient cooking.
Cooking without the addition of fats or liquids.
4. For optimum browning, preheat broil burner for
approximately 3-4 minutes before adding food.
5. Place food in the oven. Close the oven door.
6. Broil on one side until food is browned. Turn and broil food on 2nd side.
7. When broiling is finished press “Clear/Off”.
Note: Always pull the oven rack out to the stop position before turning or removing the food.
CAUTION:
Should an oven fire occur, close the oven door and turn the oven OFF. If the fire continues, use a fire extinguisher. DO NOT put water or flour on the fire. Flour may be explosive.
Tips:
Preheat oven for approximately 5 minutes.
Steaks and chops should be at least ¾" thick.
Brush fish and poultry with butter or oil to prevent sticking.
Turn meats once during the recommended cooktime.
When top browning casseroles, use only metal or glass ceramic dishes such as Corningware®.
Use the broil feature to cook meats that require direct exposure to radiant heat for optimum browing results. When broiling always remember to arrange the oven racks while oven is still cool. Position the rack as suggested in the broil settings table.

How Convection works
Convection uses a fan to circulate the oven's heat
uniformly and continuously around the oven. This improved heat distribution allows for fast, even cooking and browning results. It also gives better baking results when using two racks at the same time.
Heated air flows around the food from all sides, sealing in juices and flavors. Meats cooked with convection are juicier. Poultry is crisp on the outside while staying tender and moist on the inside. Breads and pastries brown more evenly. Most foods baked in a standard oven can be cooked faster and more evenly with Convection.
Convection is similar to Bake. Heat comes from the lower burner. The main difference in convection baking is that the heat is circulated throughout the oven by the convection fan. This improves heat distribution.

How to use Convection
When baking:
1. For optimum cooking results it is recommended to preheat the oven when baking foods such as cookies, biscuits and breads.
2. Reduce oven temperature 25°F from recipe’s recommended oven temperature. Follow the remainder of the recipe’s instructions using the minimum recommended cooktime.
3. When using 2 oven racks at the same time, place in positions 2 & 5 for best results.
Layer cakes will have better results using the “BAKE” pad.
(177°C).
To set Convection:
1. Press “Convection”. "— — —" appears in the display.
2. Within 5 seconds, press the “+” or “-”. The display will
show "350°F (177°C)." By pressing and holding the “+” or “-”, the temperature can then be adjusted in 5°F increments (1°C if the control is set to display Celsius).
3. As soon as the“+” or “-” pad is released, the oven will
begin heating to the selected temperature. When the displayed temperature reaches the desired baking temperature, the preheat indicator light will turn OFF and the control will beep 3 times.
4. To cancel Convection, press “Clear/Off”.
To change the oven temperature after Convection has started:
1. Press “Convection”. Visually check the bake
temperature and see if it needs to be changed.
2. Press the “+” or “-” pad to increase or decrease the set
temperature to the desired new oven temperature.
Operating the Gas Cooktop

Cookware material types

The cookware material determines how evenly and quickly heat is transferred from the surface element to the pan bottom. The most popular materials available are:
When roasting
1. Preheating is not necessary when roasting foods using Convection.
2. Since Convection cooks food faster, reduce the cooktime by 25% from the recommended cook time of your recipe. Check the food at this time. If necessary, increase cooktime until the desired doneness is obtained.
3. Do not cover foods when roasting - this will prevent the meat from browning properly.
4. Use the same temperature as indicated in the recipe.
Note:
When using Convection, cook time reductions may vary depending on the amount and type of food being cooked.
Setting Convection
The oven can be programmed to Convection at any temperature from 300°F to 550°F (149°C to 287°C). The factory preset automatic bake temperature is 350°F
Aluminum - Excellent heat conductor. Some types of food will cause it to darken (Anodized aluminum cookware resists staining & pitting).
Copper - Excellent heat conductor but discolors easily.
Stainless - Slow heat conductor with uneven cooking
results. Is durable, easy to clean and resists staining.
Cast Iron - A poor heat conductor however will retain heat very well. Cooks evenly once cooking temperature is reached. Not recommended for use on ceramic cooktops.
Porcelain-enamel on metal - Heating characteristics will vary depending on base material.
Glass - Slow heat conductor.

Using proper cookware

CAUTION:
*These settings are based for medium-weight metal or aluminum pans with lids. Settings may vary when using
other types of pans.
Do not place flammable items such as plastic salt and pepper shakers, spoon holders or plastic wrappings on the cooktop when it is in use. These items could melt or ignite. Potholders, towels or wooden spoons could catch fire if placed too close to the range cooktop.
Important: Do not place aluminum foil, or ANY material that can melt on the range cooktop. If these items melt they may damage the cooktop.
Note: The size and type of utensil used, and the amount and type of food being cooked will influence the setting needed for best cooking results.

Setting proper burner flame height

The color of the flame is the key to proper burner adjustment. A good flame is clear, blue and hardly visible in a well-lighted room. Each cone of flame should be steady and sharp. Adjust or clean burner if flame is yellow-orange.
For most cooking; start on the highest setting and then turn to a lower setting to complete the process. Use the recommendations below as a guide for determining proper flame size for various types of cooking (Fig. 2)
For deep fat frying; use a thermometer and adjust the surface knob accordingly. If the fat is too cool, the food will absorb the fat and be greasy. If the fat is too hot, the food will brown so quickly that the center will be undercooked. Do not attempt to deep fat fry too much food at once as the food will neither brown or cook properly.

CAUTION:
Never extend the flame beyond the outer edge of the cooking utensil. A higher flame wastes energy, and increases your risk of being burned by the flame (Fig. 2).

Setting surface controls

Your gas range may be equipped with different sized surface burners. The ability to heat food quicker and in larger volumes increases as the burner size increases.
The smaller simmer burner (some models) is best suited for simmering delicate sauces, etc.
The standard size (9,000 BTU) burners may be used for most surface cooking needs.
The larger POWER PLUS burner (some models) is best used for bringing large quantities of liquid to temperature and when preparing larger quantities of food.

It is important to select cookware that is suitable for the amount and type of food being prepared. Select a burner and flame size appropriate for the cookware size.

Center Oval Burner (some models)

The center oval burner is for large cooking pots or pans, oval pans, fish poachers, and griddles. Be sure to center the pan over the burner and select a flame size appropriate for the pan.

Setting a surface burner

1. Place cooking utensil on center of surface burner grate. Make sure the cooking untensil is centered and stable on the grate.
2. Push the desired surface control knob in and turn counterclockwise out of the OFF position (see Fig.1).
3. Release the knob and rotate to the LITE position.
4. Visually check that the gas burner has lit.
5. Push the control knob in and turn counterclockwise to the desired flame size. The control knobs do not have to be set at a particular setting. Use the control knob markings and adjust the flame as needed..

Setting the Clock

When the appliance is first plugged in, or when the power supply to the appliance has been interrupted, the display will flash "12:00".
To set the analog clock:
1. Press "CLOCK" once (do not hold pad down).
2. Within 5 seconds, press and hold "+" or “-” until the
desired time of day appears in the display.
Note: The clock cannot be changed during any timed bake or self-clean cycle.

Changing between continuous bake setting or 12-Hour Energy Saving feature

The oven control has a built-in 12-Hour Energy Saving feature that will shut off the oven if the control is left on for more than 11 hours and 59 minutes. The oven can be programmed to override this feature for continuous baking.

DO NOT cook with the surface control knob left in the LITE position. The electronic ignitor will continue to spark if the control knob is left in the LITE position.
When setting any surface control knob to the LITE position, all electronic surface ignitors will spark at the same time. However, only the surface burner you are setting will ignite.
In the event of an electrical power outage, the surface burners can be lit manually. To light a surface burner, hold a lit match to the burner head, then slowly turn the surface control knob to LITE. After burner lights push in and turn knob to desired setting. Use caution when lighting surface burners manually.
Changing to continuous bake setting:
1. Press and hold “TIMER On/Off” down for 5 seconds until tone is heard, " — — hr" will appear in display for continuous cooking. The current time of day will return to the display.
2. To cancel the continuous bake setting, press and hold for 5 seconds until tone is heard. "12hr" will appear in display indicating that the control has returned to the 12-Hour Energy Saving feature.

Temperature conversion

The electronic oven control is set to operate in °F (Fahrenheit) when shipped from the factory. The oven can be programmed for any temperature from 170°F to 550°F (77°C to 287°C).
To change the temperature to °C (Celsius) or from °C to °F (control should not be in a Bake or Clean mode):
1. Press “BROIL” . "— —" appears in the display.
2. Press and hold “+” the until "HI" appears in the display.
3. Press and hold “BROIL” until °F or °C appears in the display.
4. Press the “+” or “-” to change °F to °C or °C to °F.
5. Press any control pad to return to normal operating mode.

Setting a silent control panel

When choosing a function, a beep will be heard each time a pad is pressed. If desired, the control can be programmed for silent operation. Press and hold “START TIME”. After 7 seconds, the control will beep once. This will block the controls from sounding when a pad is pressed. To return the sound, press and hold “START TIME” again for 7 seconds until the control beeps once.

Setting oven lockout

The control can be programmed to lock the oven door and lockout the oven control pads.
To set the oven lockout feature: (for models with Convection)
1. Press “Clear/Off” and “Convection” together and hold for 3 seconds. “Loc” will appear in display, the “Door Locked” indicator light will flash and the motor driven door lock will begin to close automatically. Allow about 15 seconds for the oven door to lock. Once the oven door is locked, the current time of day will appear in the display.
2. To cancel the oven lockout feature, press “Clear/Off” and “Convection” hold for 3 seconds. The control will unlock the oven door and resume normal operation.

Setting the minute timer

1. Press “TIMER On/Off”.
2. Press the “+” to increase the time in one minute increments. Press and hold the “+” to increase the time in 10 minute increments. The timer can be set for any amount of time from 1 minute to 11 hours and 59 minutes. Note: If the “-” pad is pressed first, the timer will advance to 11 hours and 59 minutes.
3. When the set time has run out, the timer will beep 3 times and will continue to beep 3 times every 60 seconds until “TIMER On/Off” is pressed.

To change the timer while it is in use

While the timer is active and shows in the display, press and hold the “+” or “-” to increase or decrease the time remaining.
To cancel the minute timer before the set time has run out press “TIMER On/Off” once .
Note:
To set the oven lockout feature: (for models without Convection feature)
1. Press “Lock” and hold for 3 seconds. “Loc” will appear in display, the “Door Locked” indicator light will flash and the motor driven door lock will begin to close automatically. The minute timer will display hours and minutes until 1 hour remains on the timer. Once less than 1 hour remains, the display will count down in minutes and seconds. Once the timer has less than 1 minute remaining only seconds will display.
The minute timer DOES NOT start or stop the cooking process. It serves as an extra timer in the kitchen that will beep when the set time has run out. The minute timer can be used alone or while using any of the other oven features. When the minute timer is in use with any other feature, the minute timer will be shown in the display. To view other functions, press the pad for that function.

Preparing for a Self-Clean Cycle
During Self-Clean, the oven is heated to a very high temperature. Soil is burned off at this temperature.
Adhere to the following cleaning precautions:
DO NOT use oven cleaners or oven protective coatings
in or around any part of the Self-Cleaning oven.
DO NOT clean the oven door gasket. The woven
material of the oven door gasket is essential for a good seal. Care should be taken not to rub, damage or remove the gasket.
DO NOT use any cleaning materials on the oven door
gasket. Doing so could cause damage.
Remove all utensils and ANY ALUMINUM FOIL.
These items cannot withstand high cleaning temperatures and will melt.
Remove racks. See “Removing & Replacing Oven Racks” under Accessories. If they are not removed during the Self-Clean cycle, their color will turn slightly blue and the finish will dull. After the cycle is complete and the oven has cooled, rub the sides of the oven racks with wax paper or a cloth containing a small

Avoid These Cleaners

Do not use commercial oven cleaners such as Easy Off®. They may damage the oven finish or parts.
When the self-clean cycle has completed:
1. The time of day will appear in the display window and the “Clean” and "LOCK" light will continue to glow.
2. Once the oven has cooled down for about 1 HOUR and the "LOCK" light has gone out, the oven door can be opened.
3. A moist cloth is the best way to wipe out the remaining ash from the oven.

Stopping or interrupting a self-clean cycle

If it becomes necessary to stop or interrupt a self­cleaning cycle once it has been activated:
1. Press “Clean/Off”.
2. Once the oven has cooled down for about 1 HOUR and the "LOCK" light has turned off, the oven door can be opened.
3. Restart the Self-Clean cycle once all conditions have been corrected.
CAUTION:
To avoid possible burns use care when opening the oven door after the self­cleaning cycle. Stand to the side of the oven when opening the door to allow hot air or steam to escape.
DO NOT force the oven door open. This can damage the automatic door locking system. Use caution and avoid possible burns when opening the door after the self-cleaning cycle has completed. The oven may still be VERY HOT.
Note:
Whenever the self-clean feature is active you may check the amount of time remaining in the self-clean cycle by pressing the “Self Clean” pad. Remember the range door cannot be opened until the range has cooled sufficiently. You will need to add about 1 hour to the time displayed before you can use the range for cooking.
When the oven is cool, wipe away any residue or powdered ash with a damp cloth or paper towel.
Never use scouring pads or abrasive cleaners.

Cooktop Cleaning and Maintenance

Each burner head has a small ignition port located as illustrated. Should you experience ignition problems it may be that this port hole is partially blocked with soil. With the burner head in place, use a small wire gauge needle or the end of a paper clip to clear the ignition port.
To clean the surface burner heads
For proper gas flow it may be necessary to clean the burner head and slots. To clean, first use a clean DAMP cloth to soak up any spills. Remove any food from between the burner slots using a small non-abrasive brush like a toothbrush and afterwards wipe up using a damp cloth. For stubborn soils located in the slots, use a small-gauge wire or needle to clean.
To clean the recessed and contoured well areas of the cooktop
If a spill occurs on or in the recessed or contoured areas, blot up spill with an absorbent cloth. Rinse with a clean, damp cloth and wipe dry.
To clean the surface burner grates, caps & burner drip pans (some models)
CAUTION:
To avoid possible burns use care when cleaning the cooktop. DO NOT attempt to clean the cooktop whenever the cooktop or burner heads are still hot.
To avoid possible burns DO NOT attempt any of the cleaning instructions provided below before turning OFF all of the surface burners.
The cooktop and surface burners are designed tomake cleaning easier. Since cooktop surface burners are sealed, cleanups are easy when spillovers are cleaned up immediately. Routinely clean the cooktop. Wipe with a clean, damp cloth and wipe dry to avoid scratches. The contoured well areas and burner drip pans (some models should be frequently cleaned also.
Keeping the burner head ports and slots clean will prevent improper ignition and uneven flame. Refer to the following sections for further instructions.
Use a soap-filled scouring pad or a mild abrasive cleanser to clean the surface burner caps and surface burner drip pans (if equipped).

Maintenance

Replacing an Oven Light

CAUTION:
Make sure the appliance and lights are cool and power to the appliance has been turned off before replacing the light bulb(s). Failure to do so could result in electrical shock or burns. Wear a leather­faced glove for protection against possible broken glass.
The light bulb is located at the rear of the oven and is covered with a glass shield held by a wire holder. The glass shield must be in place whenever the oven is in use.
To replace the oven light bulb:
1. Turn electrical power off at the main source or unplug the range.
2. Press wire holder to one side to release the glass shield.
3. Replace bulb with a new 40 watt appliance bulb.
4. Replace glass shield over bulb and snap wire holder into place.
5. Turn power back on again at the main source (or plug in the range back in).
6. The clock will then need to be reset. To reset, see Setting the Clock and Minute Timer in this Use and Care Guide.

Removing the Oven Door

CAUTION:
When removing the door:
Make sure oven is cool and power to the oven has been turned off before removing the door. Failure to do so could result in electrical shock or burns.
The oven door is heavy and fragile. Use both hands to remove the oven door. The door front is glass. Handle carefully to avoid breaking.
For safe, temporary storage, lay the door flat with the inside of the door facing down.
Grasp only the sides of the oven door. Do not grasp the handle as it may swing in your hand and cause damage or injury.
Failure to grasp the oven door firmly and properly could result in personal injury or product damage.
Do not lay removed door on sharp or pointed objects as this could break the glass. Lay on a flat, smooth surface, positioned so that the door cannot fall over.

4. Firmly grasp both sides of oven door along the door sides (Do not use the oven door handle - see figure).
5. Close the door to the broil stop position (the oven door will stop into this position just before fully closing).
6. With the oven door in the broil stop position, lift the oven door hinge arms over the roller pins located on each side of the oven frame (see figure).
To remove the oven door:
1. Be sure to read the above CAUTION before attempting to remove the door.
2. Open oven door completely (horizontal with floor - see figure). Door hinge locations are circled.
3. Pull the door hinge locks on both left and right door hinges down from the oven frame completely towards the oven door (see figure). A tool such as a small flat-blade screwdriver may be required.

1. Firmly grasp both sides of oven door along the door sides (Do not use the oven door handle - see figure).
2. Holding the oven door at the same angle as the removal position, seat the hook of the hinge arm over the roller pins located on each side of the oven door frame (see figure). The hook of the hinge arms must be fully seated onto the roller pins.
3. Fully open the oven door (horizontal with floor - see figure). Door hinge locations are circled.
Special door care instructions - Oven doors contain glass that can break.
Read the following recommendations:
1. Do not close the oven door until all the oven racks are fully in place.
2. Do not hit the glass with pots, pans, or any other object.
3. Scratching, hitting, jarring or stressing the glass may weaken its structure causing an increased risk of breakage at a later time.

4. Push the door hinge locks up towards and into the oven frame on both left and right oven door hinges (see figure) to the locked position.
5. Close the oven door.

Cabinets not square or are built in too tightly. Contact builder or installer to make appliance accessible.
Carpet interferes with appliance. Provide sufficient space so appliance can be lifted over carpet.

Moisture is present after cleaning. Lightly fan the flame & allow burner to operate until flame is full. Dry the surface burners thoroughly following the instructions under “Cleaning the cooktop and surface burners” provided in the Care & Cleaning section.

Oven Problem Possible Causes and Suggested Solutions
Surface burner flame is orange. Dust particles in main gas line. Allow the burner to operate a few minutes
until flame turns blue. In coastal areas, a slightly orange flame is unavoidable due to salt air.
Oven light is not working properly. Replace or reinsert the light bulb if loose or defective. Touching the bulb
with fingers may cause the bulb to burn out.
Oven light does not turn off. Check for obstruction in oven door. Check to see if hinge is bent. Entire appliance does not operate. The time of day is not set. The time of day must first be set in order to
operate the oven. See “Setting the clock” in the Setting oven controls section.
Make sure cord/plug is closed.
Service wiring is not complete. Contact your dealer, installing agent or authorized service agent.
Electrical power outage. Check house lights to be sure. Call your local electric company for service.
Oven is not self-cleaning properly. Allow the oven to cool before running self-clean. Always wipe out loose
soils or heavy spillovers before running self-clean. If oven is badly soiled,
set oven for the maximum self-clean time. Clock and timer are not working properly. Make sure there is electrical power to oven. Oven portion of appliance does not
operate.
With a new oven there is a strong odor when oven is turned on.
Be sure the oven controls are set properly for the desired cooking feature.

This is normal with a new oven and will disappear after a few uses.
Operating the self-clean cycle also "burns-off" the smell more quickly. Control does not react when a key is
touched. Fan is running during modes that do not
use convection Warm air or steam escapes from oven
vent. Oven smokes excessively during broiling. Incorrect setting. Follow broiling instructions in Setting Oven Controls.
Flames inside oven or smoking from oven vent.
Be sure that pad is clean. Touch the center of the touchpad. Use the flat
part of your finger.
On some models, the convection fan runs while the oven is preheating for
the bake mode. This is normal.
It is normal to see or feel steam or warm air escaping from the oven vent.
Do not block the vent.
Make sure oven door is closed for broiling.
Meat too close to upper burner. Reposition the broil rack to provide proper
clearance between the meat & the burner. Preheat the oven.
Meat not properly prepared. Remove excess fat from meat. Cut remaining
fatty edges to prevent curling, but do not cut into lean.
Grease has built up on oven surfaces. Regular cleaning is necessary when
broiling frequently. Old grease or food spatters cause excessive smoking.
Excessive spillovers in oven. For example this will happen for pie spillovers
or large amounts of grease left on the oven bottom. Wipe up excessive
spillovers before starting oven. If flames or excessive smoke are present
see “About broiling” in the Setting Oven Controls section.
