Safety Notes
Before start-up please read these instructions!
Before using the machine please read the operating instructions for your unit and comply in particular with these safety instructions. Please keep the instructions safe for later use.
The warning and information signs attached to the unit provide important information for safe operation.
Apart from the information in the operating instructions comply with the general safety regulations and regulations for the prevention of accidents.
Never direct the water jet at people, animals, the unit or electric components.
Power supply
f The voltage indicated on the rating plate
must correspond to the voltage of the power source.
f We recommend that this equipment is only
connected into a socket which is protected by a circuit-breaker that would be actuated by a 30 mA residual current.
f If the supply cord is damaged, it must be re-
placed by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
f Never touch the mains plug with wet hands.
f Do not pull plug while operating the device.
f Do not run over, crush or pull the power sup-
ply cable or extension lead, otherwise it may be damaged. Protect the cable from heat, oil and sharp edges.
f Do not use the appliance, if the power supply
cable or important parts, e. g. high-pressure hose, trigger gun or safety devices are damaged.
f Warning: Inadequate extension cords can be
dangerous.
f If an extension cord is used, the plug and
socket must be of watertight construction. The extension cord must have a cross section in accordance with the operating instructions and be protected against splashed water. The connection must not be in water.
f When replacing plugs on the power supply
cable or extension lead the spray water guard and mechanical stability must remain intact.
Water connection
f Comply with the regulations of your water
supply company.
f All connecting hoses must have properly
sealed joints.
f The appliance should never be used on the
drinking water supply without a back flow valve. Water which has passed the back flow valve is regarded as undrinkable.
f The high-pressure hose must not be dam-
aged (danger of bursting). A damaged highpressure hose must be replaced immediately. Only use hoses and connections recommended by the manufacturer.
f High-pressure hoses, fittings and couplings
are important for the safety of the appliance. Use only hoses, fittings and couplings recommended by the manufacturer.
Application
f Before use, check that the unit and operating
equipment are in perfect condition and are safe to operate. Do not use the unit if it is not in perfect condition.
f Do not direct the jet against yourself or oth-
ers in order to clean clothes or footwear.
f Never draw in solvent-containing liquids, un-
diluted acids, acetone or solvents! This includes petrol, paint thinners, heating oil. The sprayed vapour is highly flammable, explosive and toxic.
F 016 L70 545 | (14.1.11) Bosch Power Tools
Page 7
English | 7
f The appropriate safety regulations must be
observed when using the unit in dangerous areas (e.g. petrol stations). It is forbidden to operate the unit in potentially explosive locations.
f The unit must be placed on a solid base.
f Only use detergents recommended by the
manufacturer and comply with the application, disposal and warning instructions of the detergent manufacturers.
f All current-conducting components in the
working area must be protected against splashed water.
f The gun trigger must not be jammed in posi-
tion “ON” during operation.
f Wear suitable protective clothing to protect
against splashing from some parts. Do not use the appliance within the range of persons unless they also wear protective clothing.
f Vehicle tyres/tyre valves may only be cleaned
from a minimum distance of 30 cm, otherwise the vehicle tyre/tyre valve could be damaged by the high-pressure jet. The first indication of this is a discoloration of the tyre. Damaged vehicle tyres/tyre valves can be extremely dangerous.
f Materials containing asbestos and other ma-
terials which contain substances which are hazardous to your health must not be sprayed.
f Detergents must not be used undiluted. The
products are safe to use as they contain no acids, alkalis or substances which are detrimental to the environment. We recommend that the detergents are kept out of the reach of children. If detergent comes into contact with the eyes, wash immediately with plenty of water and if swallowed contact a doctor immediately.
Operation
f The operator must use the unit in accordance
with the regulations. He/she must take local conditions into account and be aware of other people, especially children, when operating the unit.
f The unit may only be used by authorised per-
sons who have received training or have demonstrated their ability to operate the unit. The unit must not be operated by children or juveniles (danger of accidents due to incorrect use of the unit). Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
f The unit is not intended for use by persons
(including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the unit by a person responsible for their safety.
f The unit must never be left unsupervised
while the unit is switched on.
f The water jet from the high-pressure nozzle
produces a recoil on the gun. You should therefore hold the gun and spray lance firmly with both hands.
Transport
f Switch off the motor and secure the unit be-
fore transporting.
Maintenance
f Switch off the unit prior to all cleaning and
maintenance work and before replacing components. Pull out the mains plug if the unit is mains-operated.

Autostop function
The machine is designed to switch off the motor when the trigger 9 is released on the gun. This feature relieves high pressure from the system to achieve a longer lifetime and lower energy consumption. (A short squeaking noise can occur and is completely normal.)
Stopping
Release trigger 9. Press the trigger safety lock
10. The power gun is now locked and can not be
operated accidentally.
Press on/off switch 4.
Close water tap. Unplug the machine from the mains supply.
Press the trigger safety lock 10 to release the trigger 9. Fully press the trigger 9 until there is no more water pressure in the machine. Release trigger 9. Press the trigger safety lock 10.
Disconnect water supply hose from machine and water supply.
Self priming function
The machine can also operate with water from sources other than a water tap, e. g. ponds and water butts due to the self priming function. The
use of an additional water filter (not supplied) is highly recommended for this kind of use.
Make sure the water source is situated no more than 1 m below the level of the machine.
Fill water supply hose (not supplied) with water before connecting it to the machine. Running
the machine without water (running dry) will damage it.
Run machine without lance attached until there is a constant flow of water.
Turn off machine and connect lance.
