1.1 Product Introduction
This specification defines the unique product features and requirements of the BT-1238-TTS
portable Bluetooth Handsfree Speaker. It can be connected to Bluetooth enabled devices such
as a mobile phone and can also be used with a PC via USB connection.
With the unique TTS, a voice guild to let the user know the connection condition and incoming
caller number.

1.5 REQUIRED PRODUCT APPROVALS
This product shall be tested for compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements listed
below. Testing shall be performed, and reports generated by a certified test facility.
1.5.1 Bluetooth (BQB)
The product shall be designed to have the BQB (Bluetooth Qualification Body) approval.
1.5.2 FCC
This product shall be designed and manufactured so that it must be operated in accordance
with Parts 15 of FCC Rules and Regulations. This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC
rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause
harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including
interference that may cause undesired operations.
1.5.3 CE
The unit shall be designed and manufactured so that it may be operated in with UL 60950.
1.5.4 RoHS
The unit shall be designed and manufactured so that it may be operated in Accordance with
RoHS. Manufacturers need to understand the requirements of the RoHS Directive to ensure
that their products and their components comply.
2. USER INTERFACE AND OPERATION

2.3 CHARGING THE UNIT
Before using the BT-1238-TTS for the fist time, charge the unit for at least 6 hours.
1. Plug in the mini USB into the port located at the side of the unit
2. Plug the other end into the USB port located on the PC/Notebook or the car charger
adaptor. (If plugged it into the adaptor then plug the adaptor into the appropriate port in
the car.)
3. The red LED will then turn on as the battery begins to charge. When the unit is completely
charged, the red LED will turn off automatically.
2.4 TALK TO SPEAK (TTS) System
Talk to speak (TTS) system converts normal language text into speech.
1. When BT-1238-TTS is in the pairing mode, the unit will speak “Start Pairing”.
2. When you’re done pairing, the unit will speak “Pairing Stop”.
3. When the mobile phone connects to the BT-1238-TTS, the unit will speak “Connected”.
4. When the mobile phone is disconnected to the BT-1238-TTS, the unit will speak
“Disconnected”.
5. When a call comes in while paired, the unit will speak the caller’s number.
2.5 PAIRING
1. Turn the unit on
2. Press and hold the
“Start Pairing” and the blue LED should blink rapidly.
3. Follow the mobile phone’s instruction guide on how to pair with Bluetooth.
4. Search for the device called BT-1238-TTS and enter the PIN “1234”.
5. Once pairing as succeeded the unit will speak “Pairing Stop”, and the blue LED will flash
slowly.
6. Connect the mobile phone and BT-1238-TTS and the unit will speak “Connected”. Now the
BT-1238-TTS is ready to manage calls.
To cancel pairing while in pairing mode, press the again to exit from pairing.
2.6 USB CONNECTION
When the USB is inserted to the computer, the device will act as a computer speaker and
microphone. Note:
a) When it is connected to the computer, the volume will be controlled by the computer.
Volume buttons on the BT-1238-TTS will be disabled.
b) While using USB and Bluetooth at the same time, the Bluetooth has priority over the USB
connection. After the Bluetooth conversation has ended, the USV connection will
automatically be restored.
2.7 AUTO SHUTDOWN
When not connected with the Bluetooth for longer than 30 minutes, the device will
automatically shut down.
2.8 SUN VISOR CLIP
To attach to the car visor, attach the sun visor clip to the back of the BT-1238-TTS. Then
mount unit onto the sun visor in the vehicle with the speaker facing down.
