Introduction
Model FZ40 with a solid insulated door or GFZ40 with a glass door. Congratulations on your new freezer, we feel certain that it will serve you well for many years ahead. To obtain maximum benefit and efficiency from your freezer, please read the following instructions carefully and act accordingly
INSTALLATION
1. Upon receiving the freezer, check for any damage that may have occurred during transit. If there is, please contact your dealer immediately
2. Place the freezer on an even flat surface and use the adjustable feet for levelling.
3. Do not site the freezer close to heat sources such as cookers or radiators and do not expose to strong sunlight. The glass door freezer must never be placed in direct sunlight – Please note that the effect of the Sun’s rays can affect goods stored in the glass door freezer.
4. The freezer is equipped with a condenser on the rear side and we recommend to have the condenser cleaned with a soft brush each second month.
5. To minimize operating costs and maximise the life of the compressor it is essential to allow good ventilation at the rear. A clearance of 100mm is recommended
6. The cleaner has already been cleaned at the factory, but we recommend you to clean it again using a solution of 1Tsp of Sodium Bicarbonate to 0.5ltr of warm water. DO NOT CLEAN
THE GLASS DOOR WITH ABRASIVE CLEANERS OR MATERIALS!

ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
This freezer is equipped with a fixed plug. If the plug does not fit the socket, you must contact your supplier immediately or contact a suitably qualified person to change it. The installation of a new plug should only be carried out by someone qualified and carrying all necessary safety certificates. If the power cord is damaged in any way it should be replaced by the supplier to avoid a hazard.
WARNING!!
This Freezer Must Be Earthed!!
Plug the mains lead into a socket which will supply the voltage 230v/50Hz. Variations in the mains voltage of +/- 10% are allowed, but major variations will reduce the lifetime of the compressor. If there is any doubt about the installation, we recommend a qualified electrician should check it and confirm that it is operating satisfactorily and has not been damaged in transit.

CONTROL PANEL
The control panel comprises of the following elements:
Green mains supply light. This must always be on
Thermometer which shows the temperature inside the freezer
Thermostat knob to adjust the temperature in the freezer. To
decrease the temperature, turn the knob clockwise
Freezers with an internal fan motor are equipped with a door switch which cuts out the fan motor by opening the door (standard for glass door model)
Internal light will be equipped with an On/Off switch to turn off the light during the night (Normally standard for glass door model)
OPERATING
FZ40 can be used to freeze down fresh food as well as to store
The frozen food, whereas the GFZ40 is a conservator which may only be used for storing frozen food.
Before use, the interior of the freezer should be cleaned by using a solution of 1 tsp Sodium Bicarbonate to 0.5ltr water. Do not clean the glass door with abrasive cleaning agents or materials!
If the freezer has been exposed to very low ambient temperatures, do not switch on the freezer until the compressor temperature is estimated to be at least +10˚C
Always ensure that the contents do not impede the free air circulation (for the fan assisted
GFZ40) as this may lead to
excessive differences between the upper and lower parts of the freezer
You are advised to adjust the thermostat according to the ambient conditions of your freezer. (25˚C approx-Thermostat pos. 4 and 30˚C approx-Thermostat pos. 5
We always recommend that you always pack fresh food as well as frozen in air tight plastic/plastic bags
Fresh food should always be placed so that it has contact with the freezing shelves
If the freezing shelves are equipped with a wire cover, it can be opened by lifting it and pulling towards you.

FROZEN FOOD STORAGE
Pre-packed commercially frozen food should be stored in accordance with the manufacturers instructions for a 3 Star food storage compartment. (Conservation temperature 18˚C). To ensure that quality is maintained, the following should be remembered: Place packets in freezer as soon as possible after purchase, if there are instructions on the packet, follow these with regard to storage times. The storage life of food varies and the recommended storage times should not be exceeded.
IMPORTANT: If a substantial temperature rise occurs in the frozen food, then storage life may be reduced and the storage time stated may no longer apply. This may occur:
During defrosting
Due to non compliance with the manufacturers instructions
Due to factors such as electric power failures or faults
DEFROSTING
As time goes on frost will build up on the freezing shelves in certain areas. The amount of frost on the shelves will reduce the capacity of the freezer and increase the internal temperature. This frost should be scraped away periodically using a wooden or plastic scraper or a stiff bristle brush. It is recommended this is done when the thickness of the frost is approaching 5-10mm or a minimum of 4 times per year so the inner body of the freezer can be cleaned. Choose a time when stock in the freezer is low and proceed as follows:
Place the frozen goods at a cold place (in another freezer) or wrap them in insulating material
Take away the small white drain knob at the bottom of the freezer
Turn the black knob at the centre of the louvered plate outwards and place a flat dish under the drain tube for collection of defrosted water
Turn the thermostat knob anticlockwise to position stop, open the door and wait for the temperature to naturally adjust so that the ice on the freezing shelves will melt loose.
NEVER USE METAL OR SHARP TOOLS AS A SCRAPER

TROUBLESHOOTING
In the case of operation disturbances, please check the following:
Is the freezer connected to the mains?
Is the mains supply intact? (blown fuse etc.)
Has the freezer recently been filled with fresh food, or has the
door been opened for extended periods?
Is the thermostat set correctly?
Is the door properly closed and sealed?
Is the frost layer on the shelves too thick? If Yes, unplug the
freezer and start a manual defrost
Is the circulation of air unimpeded? For
GFZ40 – Is the
internal fan motor running?
LOADING OF FREEZER SHELVES
We recommend loading the freezing shelves as evenly as possible. The maximum load per shelf is 30Kg approx.
