SECTION 1: IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
Read all instructions carefully before using your Blendtec® Signature Series™ blender�
The following important information is provided according to ETL and NSF
International standards� Following the instructions provided in this manual will help
prevent personal injuries and damage to the machine and will ensure that you have
the best possible experience with your Signature Series�
Note: The instructions that appear in this manual are not meant to cover every
possible condition or situation that may occur� Good judgment must be used when
operating this or any other machinery�
1.1 SAFETY CERTIFICATION
The Signature Series is certified by ETL (Report Nos� 3018204-4,
3018204-2) to comply with UL standard 982 and to CSA
C22�2#195�
The standards have been developed over many years to prevent
injury, fire and damage� Part of the certification process includes
quarterly audits to ensure that Blendtec is producing equipment
to stringent criteria� This certification ensures that your Signature
Series has been tested for electrical and mechanical safety�
1.2 HEALTH CERTIFICATION
The Signature Series and the accessories bearing the NSF mark are listed by
NSF International� NSF standards have been developed over many years
to prevent contamination from toxic substances and to ensure ease of
cleaning� Part of the certification process includes an annual audit to ensure
that Blendtec is producing equipment to stringent criteria� This certification
ensures that your Signature Series has been tested for food/sanitation safety�
1.3 HOME USE
The Signature Series is intended for home use only� Any use of the
Signature Series for commercial purposes will void the warranty�
1.4 USE AND SUPERVISION
This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children)
with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or a lack of operation
knowledge unless they are supervised by a person responsible for their
safety� Children should not be allowed to handle or use the machine without
proper adult supervision�

1.5 AVOIDING CONTACT WITH MOVING PARTS
1.12 ATTACHMENTS NOT SOLD BY BLENDTEC
Follow the precautions below to prevent personal injury and damage to
the blender:
• Keep hands, hair and clothing away from all moving parts�
• Never put hands in the blender jar or add substances by hand when the
blender jar is on the motor base�
• Never touch the blade with your fingers, regardless of whether the jar is on the
motor base�
• Keep all utensils away from the drive socket and blender jar blade
during operation�
• Never place the jar on the drive socket if the blender motor is operating�
• Never remove the jar if the blender motor is operating�
• Do not rock or remove the blender jar during operation�
1.6 BLENDER BLADE
The blender blade is sharp� Be careful when adding ingredients to the jar
and washing the jar�
1.7 MATERIALS NOT APPROPRIATE FOR USE IN THE BLENDER JAR
Never put metal (e�g�, utensils), rocks or glass in the blender jar� Damage
caused by such materials is not covered under the warranty� Utensils should
only be used in the jar when the motor is not running�
1.8 JAR CAPACITY
Never operate the blender if the jar is filled higher than the capacity
marked on the jar�
Do not operate the blender with any attachments not sold or endorsed by
Blendtec� Using such attachments may cause fire and/or injury and will void
the warranty�
1.13 CAUTION – TOUCHING DRIVE SOCKET AFTER EXTENSIVE USE
The blender drive socket and/or drive shaft may become hot after numerous
cycles� Avoid touching either after using the blenderextensively�
1.14 POWER CORD PRECAUTIONS
• Never operate the blender with a damaged cord or plug� If the supply cord is
damaged, it must be replaced by Blendtec or an authorized service agent�
• Do not permit the cord to hang over the edge of the work surface�
• Never use an extension cord with the unit�
• Unplug the blender when not in use, before changing blender locations and
before cleaning�
1.15 LIQUID
To protect against the risk of electrical shock, do not put the motor base in water or
any other liquid� Do not use the blender outdoors, where it might be subject to
precipitation� Damage resulting from such use will void the warranty�
1.16 POWER SWITCH
Turn the power switch off when you are finished using the blender� The power
switch (ON/OFF switch) is located on the back of the blender motor base�
1.9 USE OF BLENDER LID
To prevent blender ingredients from flying out of the jar and making a mess,
always secure the lid on the blender jar before blending�
1.10 HOT INGREDIENTS
Do not place hot ingredients in the blender jar�
1.11 SOUP CYCLE
When blending on the Soup cycle, blade friction will heat the contents� The
vented lid will release the pressure� Be careful not to come in contact with
any steam coming from the clear vented lid insert�
1.17 ADJUSTMENTS AND SERVICE OF MOTOR
Never attempt to disassemble the blender motor base� The base does not
contain user-adjustable or user-serviceable parts� A qualified service agent
must make all service adjustments� Disassembling or attempting to service
the blender will void the warranty�
1.18 UNIT MALFUNCTION AND DAMAGE
If the blender malfunctions, stop using the blender� Call 1-800-BLENDTEC or
801-222-0888�
If the blender is dropped or damaged in any way, return the blender to
Blendtec or a local authorized service agent immediately for examination,
repair, electrical /mechanical adjustment or possible replacement�
