IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
While using electrical appliances, in order to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and / or injury to persons, basic safety precautions should be followed, including the following:
• Read all instructions carefully, even if you are familiar with the appliance.
• To protect against the risk of electric shock, DO NOT IMMERSE the appliance,
cord set or plug in water or other liquids.
• To clean, wipe the exterior with a damp cloth.
• Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used near children. Never leave an appliance unattended when in use.
• Switch off and remove the plug from the power outlet when not in use before assembling or disassembling parts, cleaning or carrying out any maintenance of the appliance. Never pull the cord while unplugging out from power outlet.
• Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions, or is dropped or damaged in any manner. Return the complete appliance to your nearest authorized service facility for examination, electrical repair, mechanical repair or adjustment to avoid any hazard.
• The use of attachments or accessories not recommended or sold by this appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock or personal injury.
• Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table, counter, or touch hot surfaces.
• Avoid touching hot surfaces, use handles and knobs.
• Do not operate or place any part of this appliance on or near any hot surfaces (such as gas or electric burner or in a heated oven).
• Do not abuse the cord. Never carry the appliance by the cord or yank it to disconnect it from the outlet; instead, grasp the plug and pull to disconnect.
• When using an extension cord with your appliance, make sure the extension cord is correctly wired, and rated for its use.
• This product is intended for household use only.
• Do not attempt to repair the appliance yourself; instead, take it to your Black & Decker-owned or Authorized Service Centre for repair.

How to use your Vacuum Cleaner
• This Vacuum Cleaner is intended for household use only.
Do not use this appliance outdoors.
ASSEMBLY:
Connecting the hose
• Insert the hose connector (6) into the inlet of the appliance
• Push the hose until the release button clicks into place.
• To disconnect the hose, press the release button and pull out the hose.
Connecting the telescopic tube
• Push the hose handle (1) into the telescopic tube (9).
• To remove the tube, pull the hose out of the tube.
Fitting the floor head
• The floor head (12) can be used for vacuuming on carpet and hard surfaces (e.g.
laminate and tiles).
• Push the tube (9) into the head (12).
• To remove the head, pull it from the tube.
Fitting accessories
The crevice tool (19) is designed to help vacuum in narrow and hard-to reach places. The brush tool (18) can be used to vacuum furniture, blinds, curtains, windows and stairs. The accessories can be mounted on both the hose handle (1) and the tube (9). When not in use, the accessories should be placed in the tool storage compartment (14). Open the tool storage compartment (14) by pressing the latch (15). The door will automatically spring open. Remove the required accessory & close the door. Push the accessory onto the hose handle (1) or the tube (9) as required. To remove an accessory, pull the accessory from the hose handle or the tube.
USE:
Unwinding and rewinding the power cord
The cord rewind button (4) can be operated by hand or foot. Pull a sufficient length of cord from the back of the appliance & connect it to a suitable power supply. After use, unplug the cord and press the cord rewind (4) button to retract the cord into the unit. Manually guide the cord to ensure it does not swing back. Ensure the plug is correctly located.

Adjusting the tube length
The telescopic tube (9) can be adjusted as follows: Push the knob (10) and slide the tube to the desired length. Release the knob.
Adjusting the suction head
For vacuuming on carpets, switch the brush actuator (13) to the up position. For vacuuming on laminates, tiles, etc., switch the brush actuator to the down position. Take care not to trap fingers when adjusting the brush position.
Switching on and off
• The on/off switch (3) can be operated by hand or foot.
• To switch the appliance on, press the on/off switch (3).
• To switch the appliance off, press the on/off switch again.
Adjusting the airflow
Rotate electronic speed control (5) to adjust the airflow as desired. The slider on the nozzle can also be used to momentarily reduce the airflow if required.
Vacuuming
When operating the appliance, make sure that the hose is not trapped, twisted or blocked. In case of overheating, a cut-out will operate and the appliance will automatically stop. If the appliance stops operating, unplug the appliance and allow it to cool for 2-3 hours before continuing.
Note: Never use the Vacuum to pick up anything burning or smoking (matches, cigarettes, hot ashes, etc.)
How to care for your Vacuum Cleaner
Regular cleaning of the dust-bag and filter will maintain the efficiency of your Vacuum Cleaner and the life of the motor. Clean the Vacuum Cleaner body with a damp cloth & allow it to dry thoroughly before using it again. Do not use any abrasives.
Change of filters
The motor protection air filter is located in the dust-bag compartment and protects the motor from dust. To reach this filter, press the latch (16) and open the dust-bag compartment. Fig. 20-26: Pull the filter carrier from its location & remove the filter and replace it with a new one. Close the dust-bag compartment.
Attention: Do not use the vacuum cleaner without the motor protection filter fitted.
