INTENDED USE

Your Black & Decker hair dryer has been designed for drying hair as described in this manual. This product is intended for household use only.

Using your appliance

◆ Make sure that the appliance is switched off

before connecting to or disconnecting from the power supply.

After use

◆ Switch the appliance off and remove the plug

from the socket before leaving it unattended and before cleaning or inspecting any parts of the appliance.

Inspection and repairs

ELECTRICAL SAFETY

◆ Before use, check that the mains voltage

corresponds to the voltage on the rating plate.

This appliance is double insulated in accordance with EN 60335; therefore no earth wire is required.

To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not immerse the cord, plug or motor unit in water or other liquid.

ASSEMBLY

Selecting the voltage (SC831 only)

◆ Determine the local mains voltage.

◆ Turn the voltage selection knob (1) to the

correct setting.

Fitting and removing the attachments

◆ Allow the appliance to cool before changing

the attachments.

◆ Fit the concentrator nozzle (4, 10) for general

hair drying and styling.

◆ To add volume and lift, fit the diffuser (5, 11).

USE

Switching on and off

SC831

The heat control switch (2) has three positions: off, warm and hot.

◆ When the switch is moved to 0, the appliance

is switched off.

◆ Slide the switch to position 1 for warm air.

◆ Slide the switch to position 2 for hot air.

SC832

The speed control switch (7) has three positions: off, slow and fast.

◆ When the switch is moved to 0, the appliance

is switched off.

◆ Turn the switch to position 1 for blowing air at

a low speed.

◆ Turn the switch to position 2 for blowing air at

a high speed.

Heat selector (SC832 only)

The heat selector (8) has three positions: warm, hot and very hot.

◆ When the switch is set in position 1, the hair

dryer blows normal warm air.

◆ Turn the switch to position 2 for hot air.

◆ Turn the switch to position 3 for very hot air.

Cool shot button

◆ Press and hold the cool shot button (3, 9) to

set your individual style.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Before doing any cleaning or maintenance, switch the appliance off and remove the plug from the power source.

◆ Remove any loose hair which may have become

trapped in the diffuser or the rear filter.

◆ Do not try to disassemble or repair the hair

dryer yourself.

PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT

Black & Decker provides a facility for recycling Black & Decker products once they have reached the end of their working life. This service is provided free of charge. To take advantage of this service please return your product to any authorised repair agent who will collect them on our behalf.
